CONDITION
During previous air conditioning service, leakage prevention agent (A/C stop leak) may have been
added to the A/C system. Adding stop leak products to the A/C system is not a recommended or
approved Toyota repair process. During A/C service, moisture enters the A/C system, and can react
with the previously added A/C stop leak, forming a gelatinous substance. The gel substance that
forms can cause the A/C compressor to bind and or seize.

Precautions regarding usage of A/C stop leak during
A/C system service
USA
Applicability
RECOMMENDATIONS
In order to help prevent gelling and possible damage to A/C system components that can occur as a
result.
1) Do not use any A/C stop leak products to diagnosis or repair suspected A/C system leaks.
2) Because it's unknown if A/C stop leak has been used for A/C system service in the past,
precautions should be taken to ensure moisture does not enter the A/C system. Following these
precautions might help prevent gelling from occurring if A/C stop leak is already present in the system.
A) Seal disconnected parts with plugs or vinyl tape
B) Vacuum purge A/C system
C) Confirm leaks are not present
