Mazda North American Operations Irvine, CA 92618-2922 Service Alert Subject: WRONG LOCKING LUG NUTS USED ON VEHICLES PRODUCED AFTER MAY 01, 2018 Service Alert No.: SA-028/18 Last Issued: 05/30/2018 APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS 2019 CX-3 2018 Mazda3 2018 CX-5 2018 Mazda6 2018 CX-9 2018-2019 MX-5 DESCRIPTION Some vehicles with accessory installed wheel locks may have had the wrong kit installed using a 21 mm wheel lock key. As of May 01, 2018, Japan produced vehicles use 17 mm hex lug nuts instead of 21 mm on the same size thread. Follow the instructions below to replace the wheel lock kit with a 17 mm wheel lock key. NOTE: The Mazda3 produced in Mexico is not affected. REPAIR PROCEDURE 1. Confirm the wheel lock key is 21 mm and not 17 mm. 2. If the key is confirmed to be 21 mm, order the correct wheel lock kit and replace the wheel locks.
