BACKGROUND Emission certification labels that were replaced on a small number of vehicles may have been replaced with a label listing incorrect information. The affected emission labels are replacement service parts, and were not installed at the factory; they were installed during postmanufacturing repairs that required replacement of the underlying part. This will cause the vehicle to be non-compliant with emissions regulations. CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION Owners of affected vehicles will be sent a notification and a label for this campaign. Do an iN VIN status inquiry to make sure the vehicle is shown as eligible. Some vehicles affected by this campaign may be in your used vehicle inventory. https://www.in.honda.com/Rjanisis/pubs/SB/AH/A18-070/enu/A18-070.HTM 8/10/2018 Non-Compliance Recall: Emission Label (Service Part) Page 2 of 5 CORRECTIVE ACTION If the customer comes to the dealer and requests the label to be replaced, refer to LABEL REPLACEMENT and replace the label. On the iN refer to Parts > Parts Library > Parts System Guide > Ordering > Special Ordering Programs and Procedures > Controlled Parts and Emission Labels. A part number is not required as the system will assign the correct part number based on the VIN. • If you need to order a label, have the service advisor inform the customer that they will need to return to the dealer once the replacement label arrives. 1. Clean the existing label with alcohol or mild detergent and a clean shop towel. 2. Peel off the backing from the new label and apply it over the existing label. NOTES • Make sure the surface is clean and dry before applying the new label. • To avoid tearing the label, do not reposition it once you begin to apply it. • Apply the label slowly, from one end to the other. • To avoid wrinkles in the label, press it down firmly once it is applied.
