GROUP NUMBER CAMPAIGN c Technical Service Bulletin SUBJECT: DATE 18-01-026 MODEL(S) TUCSON (TL) SEPTEMBER 2018 TUCSON VACUUM PUMP SEALANT APPLICATION / CAP REPLACEMENT (SERVICE CAMPAIGN T3C) IMPORTANT *** Dealer Stock and Retail Vehicles *** Dealers must perform this Campaign on all affected vehicles prior to customer retail delivery and whenever an affected vehicle is in the shop for any maintenance or repair. When a vehicle arrives at the Service Department, access Hyundai Motor America's "Warranty Vehicle Information" screen via WEBDCS to identify open Campaigns. Description: Some subject vehicles may experience the illumination of various warning lamps including the brake warning lamp and other lamps. This bulletin describes the procedure to apply sealant to the vacuum pump or replace the vacuum pump cap based on vehicle inspection. If the affected part(s) are out of warranty, request a Prior Authorization # for goodwill consideration prior to completing the Campaign. NOTE 3: Sealant will be reimbursed as Sublet under Op Code 80C032R0. Circulate To: General Manager, Service Manager, Parts Manager, Warranty Manager, Service Advisors, Technicians, Body Shop Manager, Fleet Repair SUBJECT: TUCSON VACUUM PUMP (SERVICE CAMPAIGN T3C) Service Procedure: 1. Check the vehicle’s dashboard for any warning lights (refer to notice below). Lift up the vehicle and loosen the engine under cover mounting bolts (A). Tightening Torque : 7.8 ~ 11.7 Nm (0.8 ~ 1.2 kgf.m, 5.7 ~ 8.6 lb-ft) NOTICE If any warning lights are present, the vacuum pump cap will be replaced. A If no warning lights are present, sealant will be applied to the vacuum pump. 2. Remove the engine under cover (B). B 3. Check the position of the electronic vacuum pump (C). C TSB #: 18-01-026 Page 2 of 7 SUBJECT: SUBJECT: TUCSON VACUUM PUMP (SERVICE CAMPAIGN T3C) NOTICE If any warning lights are illuminated on the dashboard, skip to Step 5 to replace the vacuum pump cap. If no warning lights are illuminated, proceed with Step 4 to apply sealant to the vacuum pump. 4. If no warning lights are illuminated on the dashboard, proceed with the following steps to apply sealant to the vacuum pump. 4a. Clean the vacuum pump connector molding on both sides of (D). D 4b. Apply (2) coats of sealant on both sides (D). D TSB #: 18-01-026 D Page 3 of 7 SUBJECT: SUBJECT: TUCSON VACUUM PUMP (SERVICE CAMPAIGN T3C) 4c) Clean and apply sealant to the rear side (E). 4d) Reinstall all removed parts in the reverse order of removal. E 4e) Check for any DTCs and perform the appropriate diagnostic service. Ensure no warning lights are present to complete the procedure. 5. If any warning lights are on, proceed with the following steps to replace the vacuum pump cap. 6. Disconnect the pump connector (A). A 7. Loosen the (4) pump cap mounting screws (B). B Tool : Torx T-20 Tightening Torque : 14.7 ~ 19.6 Nm (1.5 ~ 2.0 kgf.m, 10.8 ~ 14.4 lb-ft) TSB #: 18-01-026 Page 4 of 7 SUBJECT: SUBJECT: TUCSON VACUUM PUMP (SERVICE CAMPAIGN T3C) 8. Carefully loosen the cap assembly (C) and pull straight off without rotating. C 9. Slowly rotate the cap assembly (C) a half-turn clockwise to untwist the wires. C 10. Disconnect the cap terminals using long nose pliers (D). Note the wire color installed at each terminal before removal. ! CAUTION Note the wire color installed at each terminal before removal. D The new cap and wires will be installed in the same orientation in the next step. TSB #: 18-01-026 Page 5 of 7 SUBJECT: SUBJECT: TUCSON VACUUM PUMP (SERVICE CAMPAIGN T3C) D 11. Install the new cap assembly terminals (E) by hand in the same orientation noted in the previous step. Ensure the blue gasket is installed on the new cap. E 12. Slowly rotate the cap (F) a half-turn counterclockwise to cross the wires and push firmly until the cap is completely seated to the vacuum pump. F TSB #: 18-01-026 Page 6 of 7 SUBJECT: SUBJECT: TUCSON VACUUM PUMP (SERVICE CAMPAIGN T3C) 13. Tighten the cap assembly mounting screws (G) and reconnect the pump connector. Tool : Torx T-20 Tightening Torque : 14.7 ~ 19.6 Nm (1.5 ~ 2.0 kgf.m, 10.8 ~ 14.4 lb-ft) ! G CAUTION DO NOT overtighten the cap mounting screws. 14. Reinstall all removed parts in the reverse order of removal. 15. Check for any DTCs and perform the appropriate diagnostic service. Ensure no warning lights are present to complete the procedure.
