E82 (1 Series Coupe) E88 (1 Series Convertible) E90 (3 Series Sedan) E91 (3 Series Sports Wagon) E92 (3 Series Coupe) E93 (3 Series Convertible) Produced from SOP to 11/2010 except for the M3 SITUATION A grating or groaning noise is heard when the front axle compresses and/or rebounds. This may be heard particularly over speed bump-type surfaces. The noise normally occurs at lower outside temperatures. The noise may be less prevalent when the vehicle has been driven up to the operating temperature. CORRECTION Replace the front sway bar bushings with the improved parts. Important: Only lubricate with water to assist in the installation of the new bushings. Note: Vulcanized rubber mounts on the sway bar were gradually introduced from 04/2010 to 11/2010. These vulcanized rubber mounts were installed to prevent noises from occurring. If you are using a Main labor code for another repair, use the Plus code labor operation 31 35 521 instead. Refer to KSD2 for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowance.
