Page 1 of 4 TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 6.7L - Illuminated MIL With DTCs P1291, P1292, P0191 And/Or P06A6 Engine Harness Chafe 19-2231 24 July 2019 Model: Ford 2017-2019 F-Super Duty Issue: Some 2017-2019 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P1291, P1292, P0191 and/or P06A6. This may be due to an engine harness chafe on the powertrain control module (PCM) bracket. Action: Before completing Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual pinpoint tests, follow the Service Procedure steps on vehicles that meet all of the following criteria: • 2017-2019 F-Super Duty • 6.7L diesel engine • Illuminated MIL with DTCs P1291, P1292 P0191 and/or P06A6 Warranty Status: Information Only. Repair/Claim Coding Causal Part: IN Condition Code: 30 Service Procedure 1. Inspect if the engine harness pushpin is in place on the PCM bracket. (1). PCM, PCM bracket and harness installed. (Figure 1) (2). PCM and the harness removed, PCM bracket shown. (Figure 2) • Note: If the harness pushpin is not in place on the PCM bracket, a harness chafe may be present near where the pushpin is located on the engine harness resulting in these DTCs. (3). Example of chafe location on the engine harness near the PCM pushpin. The chafe occurs due to rubbing on the PCM bracket. (Figure 3) (4). Example of chafe location with the tape removed.
