Greenfleet Operations Dixon, CA SIL 721 Service Information Letter August 21, 2019 Units Affected: Units mounted on 2014-2019 Dodge Chassis (see attached list) Dodge Chassis No Start Issue Altec is committed to providing our customers reliable products from initial delivery throughout the useful life of the machine. Some customers have reported that the engine on the affected chassis will not start after sitting over a weekend time period. Investigation found there was an issue with the Dodge chassis and the ZeroRPM ignition module. Unplugging the ZeroRPM Dodge ignition module and plugging the module back in was found to reset the module allowing the engine to start again. Chassis starting operation will then return to normal. Altec recommends that affected units be modified by adding an ignition reset button to the ZeroRPM system. Note that this is different from the JEMS system recovery push button switch, which provides an alternate means to turn on the JEMS display if it does not come on when the vehicle ignition key is inserted. The Dodge ignition module may also need to be updated to the latest revision. These modifications should be done no later than the next preventive maintenance interval. Order part number 990864599, Dodge Ignition Reset Button Kit, by calling 1-877-GO ALTEC (1-877-462-5832). Before installing the kit, each chassis should be checked to see if the Dodge ignition module must be replaced. Locate the module mounted below the steering column or behind the center dash (refer to Figures 1 and 2, dash shown removed). Check to see if the module has any of the following items (refer to Figure 3). The serial number sticker is located on the back of the module. • No serial number on the module • Serial number is five characters long • Module lid is black (opposite side of serial number) • Serial number is 13 characters long and ends in -00001 through -00005 Page 1 of 2 SIL 721 Module Module Figure 1 — Steering Column Mount Figure 2 — Under Dash Mount Figure 3 — Serial Number Location If any of the above conditions exist, order a new Dodge ignition module, part number 990131696, by calling 1-877-GO ALTEC (1-877-462-5832). Replace the module at the same time the modification is done. This repair is covered under the Altec Warranty Policy and can be performed by Altec, the customer, or the customer’s warranty provider. Altec will perform the repair for free at an Altec facility. If the customer, or the customer’s warranty provider performs the repair, a warranty claim must be submitted to be reimbursed for the cost of the parts and/or labor. Altec will allow up to $135 for the labor to perform this repair. Call 1-877-GO ALTEC (1-877-4625832) to schedule the work to be done by an Altec service technician. Customers are responsible for the travel costs of an Altec Mobile Service technician if the technician performs the inspection or repair at the owner’s location. Page 2 of 2
