Coolant leak under vehicle. Workshop findings: An aluminum water pump is installed. Technical Background Recently, the water pump seals have been made available for purchase separately. Service The water pump should only be replaced if there is a leak from the control/weep hole (Figure 1). All other replacements are unauthorized i.e. combination replacement with the thermostat housing. Figure 1. Control/weep hole leak. Note: Do not replace the thermostat housing and the water pump at the same time. Regardless of which part is replaced, the seal must be replaced as well (Figure 2 and 3). Figure 2. Note: In the case of a combination repair is required due to leak in the water pump and thermostat housing, a photograph of both leaks is required to be attached to the repair order. All undocumented combination replacements are subject to claim review. Warranty In case of leaks on the coolant thermostat housing, use the following accounting numbers: Service number/damage code: 1955/0050. In case of leaks on the coolant pump, use the following accounting numbers: Service number/damage code: 1950/0050. This TSB is informational only and not applicable to any Audi Warranty.
