Cause
There are several aftermarket options of secondary fuel filter specified by third-party
sources as compatible with the common-rail fuel system. Several of the fuel filters
shown as compatible do not, in fact, meet the correct specifications and should not be
used.
Solution
As of October 2019, there are only three aftermarket secondary fuel filters that meet
filtration specifications for the US17 GHG Common Rail Engines. If an engine is
equipped with a secondary fuel filter other than the OEM fuel filter or the following
approved aftermarket filters shown below, potential damage to the fuel system may
occur.
