01-071 HVAC Evap Core Page 1 of 3 Service Bulletin 01-071 Section 01 - HVAC Description The Evaporator Core May Crack in Models 579/567 Vehicles Built With a Cummins ISX-15 Engine. Release Date 11/22/2019 Introduction Peterbilt has determined in certain Models 579 and 567 vehicles manufactured with a Cummins ISX-15 engine built before 11/05/2018 the evaporator core may crack. An improved suction line has been released to alleviate the stress that may cause a cracked evaporator core. Resolution Fix As Fail If a customer comes into your dealership and demonstrates the condition above, install the updated suction line(s) in addition to replacing the evaporator core. See the procedure below for updated routing of the updated suction line. Non-related Air Conditioning system repairs are not covered by this bulletin. Warranty Through standard warranty Peterbilt will pay for parts at dealer net plus applicable mark up and labor: 2.4 hours labor to replace the evaporator suction line and evaporator core on Day-cab or sleeper configuration and file a long form claim and reference 01-071 in the “CCC” field. If the chassis requires either the F50-1780-200 or the F50-1780-100 line, file a long form claim for the line. File a long for claim for additional Air Conditioning repairs associated with this bulletin. Procedure 1. Remove refrigerant from the system and check for leaks. If leaks are coming from components other than the evaporator core and/or lines included in this bulletin, and the vehicle is no longer covered on warranty, repair/replacement of those components is not covered by this bulletin. 2. The updated suction line (F50-2188) is secured to the plenum with two p-clamps and the existing bolts. Refer to the routing diagram below for updated routing. 3.
