NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with one of the following engines:

• 2.4L 4 CYL DOHC 16V Dual V.V.T (Sales Code ED3).
DISCUSSION:
CAUTION! Updating the PCM software or replacing the PCM on a vehicle with an incorrect
replacement engine will result in a no-start condition which can not be undone.
If the engine has been replaced (numbers do not match) do not perform a PCM flash or replace
the PCM, unless it is a certified MOPAR engine built specifically for this vehicle application.
PCM update/replacement can not be completed on a vehicle with an incorrect replacement engine
until the vehicle is returned to the original equipment configuration. Confirm that the last eight
digits of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) matches the engine identification number before
proceeding with PCM software updates or PCM replacement. The engine identification number (last
eight digits of the VIN) is stamped on the bottom rear of the engine near the transmission (Fig. 1) .
