noncompliance is remedied.
All involved vehicles that are in New and Unsold dealer inventory must be held and not delivered to

Service Procedure
Important: The purpose of this procedure is to perform two tests of ten cycles each, as described below, or to trigger
DTCs P0521, P06DE, P06DD, whichever comes first. The test should be stopped immediately upon triggering a DTC if
that occurs.
1. Park the vehicle in a safe location. Put the transmission in park and apply the parking brake.
2. Connect the MDI or MDI2 and start GDS. Clear all codes in the vehicle, and double check that there are no
codes in the ECM before starting the procedure.
Module Diagnostics => [K20] Engine Control Module => Data Display => Engine Mechanical Data
3. Start and run engine for minimum 15 minutes until the coolant temperature gauge needle is centered in the
gauge.
4. Raise the engine speed to 2,000 rpm for 30 seconds.
5. Rev up the engine rpm to 4,000 rpm limit and hold for 15 seconds.
6. Release the acceleration pedal to go down rpm to idle and wait for 15 seconds.
Important: One test cycle is from steps 4 to 6.
7. Repeat the test cycle (Steps 4-6) ten times.
8. Check DTC Display Tab for trouble codes P0521, P06DE, P06DD. Exit Engine Mechanical Data screen to
save session log.
9. If any of these DTCs set: P0521, P06DE, P06DD, skip to Step 15.
•
If P0521, P06DE, P06DD are not present, proceed to Step 10.
10. Turn off the engine.
11. Disconnect scan tool from DLC. Remove key fobs from vehicle. Open door and close door. Wait for 30
seconds to allow modules to power down.
12. Leaving engine off, turn on vehicle and re-initialize Engine Mechanical Data. Start engine. Repeat the test
cycle (Steps 4-6) ten more times.
13. Check DTC Display Tab for trouble codes P0521, P06DE, P06DD. Exit Engine Mechanical Data screen to
save session log.
•
If any of these DTCs set: P0521, P06DE, P06DD, skip to Step 15.
•
If P0521, P06DE, P06DD is not present, go to Step 14.
14. If P0521, P06DE, P06DD are still not set during this test, further action is not required. Release the vehicle to
the customer and 20 cycles have been completed.
15. If any of these DTCs set: P0521, P06DE, P06DD during this test, hold the vehicle until further notice.
Dealer Responsibility
Dealers must take the steps necessary to ensure that the service update correction has been made to all involved vehicles
in dealer inventory before selling or dealer-trading the vehicle, but no later than April 30, 2021.
All new, used, GM Certified Used, courtesy transportation vehicles, dealer shuttle vehicles, etc. in dealers' possession
and subject to this bulletin must be held and inspected/repaired per the service procedure of this bulletin before customers

take possession of these vehicles. Involved vehicles must be held and not delivered to customers, dealer-traded,
released to auction, used for demonstration, or any other purpose.
All GM Certified Used vehicles currently in the dealers’ inventory within the Certified Pre-Owned Inventory System
(CPOIS) will be de-certified and must be held and remedied per the service procedure in this bulletin. Upon submitting
an accepted/paid warranty transaction in the Global Warranty Management (GWM) system, the vehicle can be re-certified
for sale within the CPOIS system, or once again be used in the CTP program.
GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of
conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained
technicians have the tools, equipment, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT
assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your dealer for information on whether your
vehicle may benefit from the information.
