DETECT OBJECTS/OBSTRUCTIONS WHEN IN REVERSE

IF YOU CONFIRM
The rear parking aid sensors are inoperative or operating incorrectly,
And
Damage has occurred to the rear sonar sensors or harness by road debris from the rear
wheels.
ACTION
Install the rear sonar sensor protector kit, listed in the PARTS INFORMATION on page 7,
to the rear bumper.
NOTE: This bulletin does not cover any damage that has occurred to the rear sonar
sensors or harness. Refer to the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) for component repair.

will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire SERVICE PROCEDURE as it
contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
The following steps will be performed on the inside corners of both the driver and
passenger side of the rear bumper. The following figures are of the driver side.

Unclip the two (2) white harness clips
circled in Figure 1 from the bumper lip.

2.
Using the dimensions shown in Figure 3, measure and then make two (2) marks on
the bumper lip as shown in Figure 4 and Figure 5.

Drill two (2) 8 mm (5/16”) holes where
marked in step 2, as shown in
Figure 6.

Apply a zinc rich primer to the drilled
holes.

Install the sonar sensor protector to the back side of the bumper lip (Figure 7).


See the PARTS INFORMATION on page 7.
Insert two (2) clips, first through the back side of the sonar sensor protector, and then
the bumper lip, with inserted tip facing toward the front of the vehicle as shown in
Figure 7.
Clips must be installed so that the inserted portion faces toward the front of
the vehicle, or harness damage may occur.

7.
Drill an 8 mm (5/16”) hole through the sonar sensor protector’s hole into bumper
bracket, where shown in Figure 8.
When drilling a hole in the bumper bracket, take care not to contact the
BSW (Blind Spot Warning) sensor as damage could occur.
NOTE: Some models may not have a bumper bracket to locate the 3rd hole of the
sonar sensor protector. In these cases a 3rd clip is not required.
8.
Apply a zinc rich primer to the drilled hole.

10.
Reattach the white harness clips to the bumper lip.
NOTE: If the vehicle is equipped with a rear side step, use the provided hole, shown
in Figure 10, to attach white harness clip.

Perform steps 1-10 on the passenger side of the rear bumper.
