Symptom-based workshop manual Service 134/18 ENU 1001 1 Symptom - Engine - Engine Problems and Engine Noise: Also Replacing Ignition Coils (SY 134/18) Model Line: 911 (991) Boxster (981)/Cayman (981) Model Year: As of 2014 up to 2016 Subject: Ignition coil Symptom: Customers complain about engine problems or loud engine noise. The following fault memory entries may also be stored: • • • • • • P0301 - Misfire P0302 - Misfire P0303 - Misfire P0304 - Misfire P0305 - Misfire P0306 - Misfire Cause: Defective diodes in the ignition coil (for switch-on spark suppression) can cause engine problems. Remedial Action: In the event of a customer complaint,check the cylinder liner for damage. In the event of replacing the short block, install new coils at the same time. All ignition coils must be replaced in addition to the damaged components, see Workshop Manual '282020 Removing and installing ignition coils'. Date of Introduction: Modified ignition coils have been used during production since 05 February 2016. Parts Info: Information The following points must be observed in relation to the part numbers listed below and the relevant vehicle (depending on equipment): • Part number indexes will increase over time.
