Classification : BT14-003 Referen ce: D ate: NTB14-013 February 25, 2014 ALTIMA SEDAN; HISS AND / OR WHINE TYPE NOISE FROM LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL AREA APPLIED VEHICLE: 2013-2014 Altima Sedan (L33) APPLIED ENGINE: QR25DE (4-cyl) engine only IF YOU CONFIRM: When slowly raising the engine RPM, a hissing, whining, and / or air leak type noise of an applied vehicle is heard coming from the driver side lower instrument panel area. • The noise is verified while the vehicle is parked and the transmission is in the Park (P) position. NOTE: A customer may state the noise can be duplicated during light to moderate acceleration in the 10 - 40 MPH range. ACTION: 1. Remove the ground wire connected between the transmission and driver side frame rail. 2. If the noise stops after removing the ground wire in Step 1 above and repeating the procedure under IF YOU CONFIRM, replace the ground wire with the one listed in PARTS INFORMATION. • See page 2, Figure 1 for ground wire location. • Before installing, flatten the tabs on both eyelets of the new ground wire (see page 2, Figure 3). • Bolts torque: 10 N•m (1.02 kg-m, 88.5 in lbs) • Make sure the ground wire does not twist at either end when securing the bolts. 3. If the noise does not stop after removing the ground wire in step 1 in the ACTION section and repeating the procedure under IF YOU CONFIRM, this bulletin does not apply.
