Dealers must perform this Service Campaign whenever an affected vehicle is in the shop for
any maintenance or repair.
When a vehicle arrives at the Service Department, access Hyundai Motor America's Vehicle
Information Screen (VIS) via WEBDCS to identify open Campaigns.
Description: 2013-2019MY Santa Fe/Santa Fe XL (NC) Onboard Refueling Vapor Recovery
(ORVR) system may exceed its capacity in certain situations.
This bulletin provides the procedure to install an Auxiliary Canister and kit to increase the ORVR
system capacity.
There are no drivability concerns associated with the condition.

this Service Campaign and the affected part is still under warranty, submit a separate claim using the
same Repair Order. If the affected part is out of warranty, submit a Prior Approval Request for
goodwill consideration prior to performing the work.
NOTE 3: Cost of the cable tie $0.20 will be reimbursed as sublet under both labor operations.

KIT (A) Auxiliary canister is fitted with a GREEN color O-ring. The BLACK color O-ring’s cross
sectional diameter is slightly larger than GREEN color O-ring. The GREEN color O-ring must be
removed and replaced with BLACK color O-ring, which is included in the kit.
KIT (B) Auxiliary canister is fitted with an updated BLACK color O-ring. Install as is.

NOTE: Dealers have been sent 20 campaign stickers for the start of this campaign. Additional can be
ordered through its facing PDC.
NOTICE
For vehicles registered in certain states, a VEHICLE EMISSION RECALL – PROOF OF
CORRECTION CARD must be filled out by the service manager, and given to the vehicle owner
upon completion of the campaign. A Campaign Sticker must also be filled out and placed on
the hood of the vehicle. Refer to pages 11 and 12 for more details.
For all vehicles, a Campaign Sticker must be filled out and placed on the hood of the vehicle.
Service Procedure:
1.
Lift up the vehicle on a hoist.
Locate the canister assembly and
disconnect:
 Vapor tube quick-connector (A)
 Purge tube quick-connector (B)
 Fresh air tube quick-connector (C)
Disconnect the Canister Close Valve
(CCV) wiring connector (D).

Remove the canister protector installation
bolts & nut.
Then remove canister protector and
canister assembly together with CCV and
filter.

Pull out the CCV pig tail harness (E) from
canister cover key hole.

Rotate the CCV and filter (F) 45 degrees
clockwise and then pull straight away
from canister assembly to separate from
canister.

When working with 31410-B8999QQH
KIT (A), the auxiliary canister GREEN
color O-ring (G) must be replaced with
the BLACK color O-ring.

It is not necessary to exchange O-rings

Hold the auxiliary canister (H) at a 45
degree angle and insert it straight into the
canister.

the auxiliary canister is fitted with
BLACK color O-ring.

After full insertion, rotate 45 degrees
counterclockwise to fully seated at the
upright position.

Reinstall the canister and auxiliary
canister assembly together with the
canister protector.

Install the bolts and nut loosely.
Do not fully tighten yet.
Cut the fresh air ventilation tube ( I ) that
connects to the air filter by 180mm.

Reconnect the Vapor tube quickconnector and the Purge tube quickconnector.
Refer to step #1 for Vapor tube quickconnector and Purge tube quickconnector reconnection locations
Install the CCV and the air filter assembly
to the auxiliary canister.

Insert the air hose length of 10mm over
fresh air and install the other end over
the air filter nipple.
NOTICE
Inside diameter of air hose ends
are different.
 Connect the YELLOW color
stripe end to fresh air
ventilation tube
 Connect the WHITE color

Secure the hose connections with the
hose clamps.
To ensure proper sealing, apply the
clamp over the overlap area of air hose
and tube or nipple.

Reconnect the CCV wiring connector.
Tie the CCV connector and pig tail
harness to the brake cable support
bracket with the cable tie to secure.

Clean the vehicle body side member next
to the air filter.
NOTICE
Clean the body side member to
ensure proper adhesion.
Then peel off the backing film and apply
the padding firmly to the area.
The purpose of the padding is to limit the
rotational movement of the air filter.

Tighten the canister protector bolts and
nut to secure the canister.
Tightening Torque:
2.9 ~ 4.3 lb-ft (3.9 ~ 5.9 N.m, 0.4 ~ 0.6
kgf.m)

GDS Evap Leakage Test:
Follow GDS instructions and perform
GDS Evap Leakage Test to confirm parts
and hoses are installed properly.

Check for installed parts and hose
connections if EVAP leakage is detected.
After making corrections, clear the
DTC(s) and perform GDS Evap Leakage
Test again.
Repair procedure is completed if EVAP
Leakage Test doesn’t detect any
leakage.

For vehicles registered in California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts,
New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington:
VEHICLE EMISSION RECALL - PROOF OF CORRECTION CARD
A Vehicle Emission Recall - Proof of Correction card must be filled out for all vehicles registered in
California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York,
Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington. Residents of these states, who
own an affected vehicle, will be required to possess a Vehicle Emission Recall - Proof of Correction
card as evidence of voluntary service campaign completion, when they apply for vehicle registration
renewal.
WHAT TO DO WITH THE CARD:
The Vehicle Emission Recall - Proof of Correction card must be completed by the Dealership’s
Service Manager using a permanent ink pen. A fine point pen is recommended. When filling in the
information, copy the information directly from the vehicle, not from the repair order. ALL
INFORMATION MUST BE PRINTED AND NEAT.
The copy of the card shown below indicates the areas to be filled in. Each area must be filled in.
The completely filled out Vehicle Emission Recall - Proof of Correction card should be given to
the owner of the vehicle upon completion of the Campaign.
