This campaign is now visible on NHTSA’s website. Issue: The accelerator pedal assembly may contain springs that may fatigue and break. If the springs break, the accelerator pedal will not return to idle after being engaged. If this were to happen, the vehicle may crash and possibly cause injuries to occupants. To remedy the issue Pierce will replace the accelerator pedal assembly at no charge to the customer. • • • • Parts are expected to ship the first week of February 0.5 hours labor per truck is allowed for this repair 2 hours travel allowed A campaign claim must be submitted to Pierce upon completion of the repair A list of trucks in your area will be found at www.pierceparts.com once customer notifications have been sent. Pierce has determined that, for certain production lots, the accelerator pedal assembly may contain springs with a defect caused by the pedal manufacturer’s process that may fatigue and break. If the springs break, the accelerator pedal will not return to idle after being engaged. If this were to happen, the vehicle may possibly crash and possibly cause injuries to occupants. To remedy the issue Pierce will replace the accelerator pedal assembly at no cost to the vehicle owner. The customer is being notified to schedule a service appointment to have the pedal assemblies replaced for the vehicles included in this recall. VEHICLES INVOLVED The vehicles involved are Quantum models between 2008 and 2011. Federal law prohibits the sale of any of the affected vehicles. Involved vehicles have been identified by Pierce job numbers and are listed on Pierceparts.com. Computer listings contain the complete job number, owner name and address data. Owner name and address data will enable dealers to follow up with owners involved in this campaign. Pierce has identified these vehicles based on accelerator pedal ship dates provided by the supplier and the corresponding vehicle build dates.
