Transaction No.: 20 5 2 8 5 3 / 7
Condition
Clicking noises from the left and/or right front corner(s)
Technical Background
In order to accurately diagnose and repair customer reported clicking noises from the front corner(s) the Measure section of this TPI consists of
three individual sections, each section describes the symptom and the remedy which should be applied
Symptoms and descriptions regarding clicking noises can appear to be very similar when described, where possible the
customer should demonstrate the reported symptom to enable correct diagnosis
Production Solution
Symptom 1 - Applicable to all VIN’s exhibiting the issue as described within the Measure section
Symptoms 2 and 3 (Iron brakes only) - Refer to the Measure section to confirm the method of repair depending on VIN
Service
Symptom 1
Single click from the front wheel corner(s) when the steering is moved from lock to lock whilst stationary
Verify that the customer complaint matches the video within the Bentley Hub – Reference TPI Transaction number 2052853/- Symptom 1
- If so then replace both front lower inner control arm bushes (Figure 1)
IMPORTANT: Please check the vehicle Repair History to confirm the inner bushes have not been previously replaced, if they have been
replaced once before, You must then replace the complete arm, Do Not carry out the bush replacement procedure more than
once (per lever)
IMPORTANT: Prior to starting this procedure ensure you have assembly lubricant part number G 052 566 A2 this must be used when fitting the
new replacement bushes, the lubricant should only be used when the bushes are replaced as per the instructions within TPI 2052853/Each bush should have 5ml of lubricant applied prior to fitment within the bush, the grease should remain present throughout the fitting/pressing
in procedure as the grease aids the fitting process and is also crucial once fitted to eliminate any further noise issues Please Note that x1 – 100
ml tube will be sufficient for use on 20 bushes (10 vehicles) – Do not order x1 tube of lubricant per each individual vehicle complaint
1) Remove the left and right hand side Lower suspension levers - Refer to Repair manual Rep.Gr.40
•
Once removed refer to the attached document and follow the instructions to replace the left and right hand side lever inner bushes
Within the Repair manual procedure there are single use items which must be replaced and not reused. Ensure that new
replacements are available prior to starting this procedure – Refer to Elsa pro and ETKA parts catalogue
Figure 1
For this TPI only (Symptoms 2 and 3) the best practice of replacing brake pads whenever new brake discs are fitted is only
required if, on inspection, the brake pads are determined not to be serviceable for example they are found to be worn,
cracked, uneven wear, contaminated, degraded due to foreign matter e.g road salt/pebbles damage
IMPORTANT NOTE: The replacement of the brake pads is not required to actually fix the issues described in symptoms 2 and 3, the brake
pads cannot be replaced under warranty as part of this repair
