Model Year ( MY ) 2016/2017 Vehicles




Reports are being received that OBD2015/16 (MY-2016/2017) Trucks are
logging U3017 Fault Code (DTC)
We have seen a number of vehicles logging U3017 DTCs intermittently (In
certain cases causing MIL Lamp on). We are investigating reasons for this
fault code and planning a software release to resolve this issue.
Impacted EECU MSW’s:
− OBD2015 (Truck MY 2016) – 22741784.P01 or older software
− OBD2016 (Truck MY 2017) – 22898389.P01 or older software
Recommended Actions:
• Clear fault code and inform customer that a software fix will be
available approximately July 2016, time frame. The lower number of
startup / shutdowns will lessen the chance of the MIL Lamp coming on.
• Typically we have seen the fault to happen during startup (~18 minutes
after start) and fault becomes inactive during normal continuous engine
running of ~36 minutes.
Do not replace any component for this fault code at this time.
Replacing the Engine ECU or Instrument Cluster will not make any
significant difference in removing this fault code.
