ISSUE
Some 2015 Edge vehicles equipped with a roof opening panel and built on or before 11/16/2015 may exhibit a body
creak-type noise in the area above the driver and/or passenger rear doors when driving over bumps. This may be due to
the C-pillar body sheet metal rubbing on an interior panel and/or a metal tab on the roof opening frame in the grab handle
area rubbing on the C-pillar body panel.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Remove the two side curtain airbag screws on the driver side curtain airbag to access the grab handle sheet metal
location. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-20. (Figure 1)
a. It is not necessary to completely remove the side curtain airbag.

2. Measure 15 mm (19/32”), mark dimension A and draw a line across. (Figure 2)

3. Measure 50 mm (2”), mark dimension B across the line drawn in step 2. (Figure 2)

4. Using a 3.5 mm (9/64”) drill bit with a drill stop approximately 5 mm (3/16”) deep, drill a hole in the C-pillar body sheet
metal where dimension A and B intersect.
5. Measure approximately 50 mm (2”) from previously drilled hole and mark.
6. Using a 3.5 mm (9/64”) drill bit with a drill stop approximately 5 mm (3/16”) deep, drill a hole in the C-pillar body sheet
metal.
7. Measure approximately 50 mm (2”) from previously drilled hole and mark.
8. Using a 3.5 mm (9/64”) drill bit with a drill stop approximately 5 mm (3/16”) deep, drill a hole in the C-pillar body sheet
metal.
9. Install three (3) sheet metal screws in the holes that were drilled in the steps above. Tighten until the screw head is flush
with the sheet metal.
10. Increase the gap between the roof opening panel frame tab and the adjacent sheet metal to approximately 5 mm (3/16”).

11. Repeat Steps 1 through 10 for the passenger side.
12. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Refer to WSM, Section 501-20.
