Sun visor light not working

The purpose of this Technical Information Bulletin is to help diagnose possible malfunctions of the courtesy lights
on the Sun Visor.
MODELS: M161 all Model Years
ISSUE: Sun visor light not working.
CONSIDERATIONS: The correct functioning of the courtesy light occurs if the following conditions are met:
a.
The sun visor must be pushed on its pivot until the end-stop position, as indicated by the green arrow
direction shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2

The sun visor door, which protects the mirror, must be completely open for the courtesy light to switch
ON.

The angular position of the sun visor must be within a given range. The courtesy light works in the angular
range between 85° and 139° (Figure 3).

CHECKS:
1.
In the conditions in which the light on the sun visor is expected to be active (that is, with the sun visor in
the positions described in the Considerations section, check the power supply on pin 1 of the I023A
connector.
Note: I023A connector is the light on the Roof connector, as shown in Figure 4.

Under the same conditions as in point 1., check the power supply on pin 1 of the I023B connector, which
is the sun visor connector.
Perform temporary wiring between the sun visor and the connector on the Roof:
I023B (sun visor connector) pin 1 <-> I023A (ceiling sun visor light connector) pin 1
The purpose of this point is to bypass the sun visor itself in order to verify the absence of wiring problems
in the Vehicle wiring harness.
ACTIONS: If a Customer complains about the malfunctioning of the sun visor courtesy light, please check
the correct operation of the sun visor as indicated in the CONSIDERATIONS section.
If the Customer complaint is confirmed despite the conditions a, b and b, described above are fulfilled
proceed with the following steps:
1. Open a BOL for factory information or Warranty authorization to claim referring to this Technical
Information Bulletin.
2. Attach a video of the malfunction by extracting and re-inserting the sun visor on the pin and respecting
the indicated operating angular range to the BOL (Figure 3).
3. Provide the outcomes of the CHECKS section.
