There was an issue with raw material quality at the supplier.
The affected engines were produced during the following period:
• Engine code CXYA: June 15, 2021, up to and including November 10, 2021
• Engine code CWWB: June 14, 2021, up to and including November 16, 2021
• Engine code DCUE: June 16, 2021, up to and including November 12, 2021
• Engine code DHUB: June 8, 2021, up to and including November 13, 2021
• Engine code DJPB: June 16, 2021, up to and including November 19, 2021
Note:
This TSB only applies to engines produced during the period(s) specified above.
Production Solution
Improved valve springs introduced as of engine production date (see engine label):
• Engine code CXYA: after November 10, 2021
• Engine code CWWB: after November 16, 2021
• Engine code DCUE: after November 12, 2021
• Engine code DHUB: after November 13, 2021
• Engine code DJPB: after November 19, 2021
Service
1. Verify the customer’s complaint.
2. Check compression on all cylinders (15 Cylinder Head, Valvetrain >>> Cylinder Head >>> Compression
Checking).
3. Check all valve springs on the cylinder with the lowest compression.
4. If a broken valve spring (intake or exhaust side) is identified during diagnosis, use a borescope to check
whether the piston and valve head have made contact.

5. If vales did not contact the piston:
a. Replace all 16 intake valve springs and all 16 exhaust valve springs following ELSA repair instructions:
Engine >>> Servicing >>> 15 Cylinder Head, Valvetrain >>> Valve Spring, Removing and Installing.
b. If valves did contact the pistons: This TSB does not apply, perform the appropriate diagnostic
procedure, and perform necessary repairs.
