6/1/22, 11:25 AM Article Volvo Chassis - Diesel Exhaust Fluid ( DEF ) Consumption Log Form Internal Content On an engine with no issues the consumption rate is approximately 23 percent of fuel used or 3 gallons of DEF to every 100 gallons of fuel. The consumption varies due to the driving conditions, ambient temp, altitude, vocation, etc. can affect the usage. This is not an official specification but merely a guideline. If excessive DEF consumption is suspected, have the driver fill out the DEF Consumption Log Form here.
