ALL APPLICABLE SOLD AND UN-SOLD RRT VIN's HAVE BEEN LOADED. TO VERIFY THAT THIS RRT SERVICE ACTION IS APPLICABLE TO THE VEHICLE, USE VIP OR PERFORM A VIN SEARCH IN TECHCONNECT. ALL REPAIRS ARE REIMBURSABLE WITHIN THE PROVISIONS OF WARRANTY. FOR HELP WITH USING wiTECH FOR ECU FLASH REPROGRAMMING, CLICK ON THE APPLICATION’S “HELP” TAB. THE wiTECH SOFTWARE IS REQUIRED TO BE AT THE LATEST RELEASE BEFORE PERFORMING THIS PROCEDURE. SUBJECT: PCM Replacement, MIL Illumination / DTCs P0300, P030X or P23XX OVERVIEW: This bulletin involves replacing the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and re-flashing with the latest available software. MODELS: 2015 - 2016 (RT) Dodge/Chrysler Caravan/Town and Country NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles within the following markets/countries: NAFTA, APAC, EMEA and LATAM. NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or after July 27, 2015 (MDH 0727XX) and on or before September 11, 2015 (MDH 0911XX) equipped with a 3.6L engine (Sales Code ERB). SYMPTOM/CONDITION: The customer may describe an engine misfire, and runs rough. In addition customers may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. Upon further investigation a technician may find one or more of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) set in the PCM memory: • • • • • P0300 - Multiple Cylinder Misfire. P0301 - Cylinder 1 Misfire. P0302 - Cylinder 2 Misfire. P0303 - Cylinder 3 Misfire. P0304 - Cylinder 4 Misfire. 18-069-16 • • • • • • • • -2- P0305 - Cylinder 5 Misfire. P0306 - Cylinder 6 Misfire. P2302 - Ignition Coil 1 Secondary Circuit - Insufficient Ionization. P2305 - Ignition Coil 2 Secondary Circuit - Insufficient Ionization. P2308 - Ignition Coil 3 Secondary Circuit - Insufficient Ionization. P2311 - Ignition Coil 4 Secondary Circuit - Insufficient Ionization. P2314 - Ignition Coil 5 Secondary Circuit - Insufficient Ionization. P2317 - Ignition Coil 6 Secondary Circuit - Insufficient Ionization. DIAGNOSIS: Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify all related systems are functioning as designed. If DTCs or symptom conditions, other than the ones listed above are present, record the issues on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin. If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other customers that describe the symptom/condition listed above or if the technician finds the DTC, perform the Repair Procedure. 1. Does the vehicle exhibit any of the symptoms/conditions? a. YES>>> Continue to Step #1 of the Repair Procedure. b. NO>>> This bulletin has been completed, use LOP (08-19-06-98) to close the active RRT. PARTS REQUIRED: Qty. Part No. Description 1 (AR) 68243295AA Module, Powertrain Control (PCM) (For 2016) 1 (AR) 05150876AD Module, Powertrain Control (PCM) (For 2015) REPAIR PROCEDURE: NOTE: Install a battery charger to ensure battery voltage does not drop below 13.2 volts. Do not allow the charging voltage to climb above 13.5 volts during the flash process. NOTE: If this flash process is interrupted/aborted, the flash should be restarted. 1. Replace the PCM; Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: Service Info> 08 - Electrical/8E - Electronic Control Modules> MODULE, Powertrain Control> Removal/Installation. 2. Reprogram the PCM with the latest software. Detailed instructions for flashing control modules using the wiTECH Diagnostic Application are available by selecting the application’s “HELP” tab. 3. Clear all DTCs that may have been set in any module due to reprogramming. The wiTECH application will automatically present all DTCs after the flash and allow them to be cleared. -3- 18-069-16 POLICY: Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
