Back to top Tech Tips 20-16-01 Fuel Tank Hard to Fill in Temperatures Below Freezing Model(s) Year Eng. Code Trans. Code Passat 2012–2015 TDI All Condensation build up in the fuel filler neck vent line causes blockage or restriction not allowing fuel vapors to vent. Inspect fuel tank vent tube for debris, water and/or ice. Backlighting the tube with a flashlight or using a bore scope will aid in diagnosis. If the vent path is blocked or restricted, install a Shepard’s crook (U-shaped) vent to stop moisture from entering the vent line. Back to top 37-16-01 Mechatronics unit or Transmission replacement tips (including DTC P309D) after the KO Clutch Line is Opened for Service Model(s) Year Eng. Code Trans. Code Jetta Hybrid 2013–2016 All All When replacing a mechatronics unit or transmission on a Jetta Hybrid, be sure to remove the plastic shipping plugs from the KO clutch actuator, located on top of the mechatronics unit and install the aluminum triple square cap from the component being replaced. If this cap is not transferred, fault code P309D can set in the TCM. If the KO aluminum cap was transferred over and P309D sets, or if there are issues with the Guided Functions KO clutch bleed, be sure the following steps have been completed: All faults have been cleared through Vehicle OBD Parking brake is in the “OFF” position All 4 passenger doors and hood remain closed during the basic settings Trunk is “Open” with a battery maintainer installed on the 12v battery After the above steps have been completed, the first step of the KO bleed test can performed through; AW01 ECM> Guided Functions> Bleed Disengaging Clutch> then select option (1) Ventilation and follow the Guided Functions steps in the test plan. This step should take approximate 17 minutes to complete. Once the test completes the test plan will usually exit out to the main control module OBD screen of ODIS. Once this happens, the second step of the KO bleed test needs to be performed through; AW01 ECM> Guided Functions> Bleed Disengaging Clutch> then select option (2) Air Entrapment and follow the Guided Functions steps in the test plan. Campaigns 23R1 - Camshaft (ECM Software) - MY 2015 Vehicles ONLY - U.S.A. & Canada Revision: Correction to connect battery charger labor operation number. Model(s) Year Eng. Code All 1.8T & 2.0T 2015 Gasoline Engines Trans. Code VIN Range From VIN Range To All Check Campaign/Action screen in Elsa Check Campaign/Action screen in Elsa Due to high load on the sintered cam which drives the high pressure fuel injection pump and the vacuum pump in the affected vehicles, the camshaft lobe has the potential to unexpectedly shear off from the camshaft. If this happens, vacuum pump power will be lost so that the pump will not deliver further vacuum supply to the brake booster, and reduced engine power (limp home mode) will cause the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) to come on. Unexpected, increased need for braking effort after vacuum reserve has been depleted can lead to a crash without warning. Back to top Code Pending - Advance Notice – Upcoming Safety Recall – Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) Model(s) Year Certain Routans 2009 Eng. Code Trans. Code All All VIN Range From VIN Range To TBD TBD Affected vehicles may experience an Occupant Restraint Control (ORC) module malfunction due to corrosion of the power supply integrated circuit. This could result in an illuminated airbag warning light with the possibility of no airbag deployment in a crash necessitating airbag deployment or an inadvertent airbag deployment without an illuminated airbag warning light. Either of these conditions could increase the risk of a crash and/or injury to front seat vehicle occupants. Updates No new updates this week.
