  Volkswagen group of america, inc. (volkswagen) is recalling certain 2012-2016 eos, 2012 passat, 2012-2016 cc, 2015-2016 e-golf, 2011-2015 touareg, 2012-2015 and 2017 tiguan, and 2011-2016 golf and 2011-2013 gti vehicles. Modifications made while the vehicles were in an internal evaluation period may cause the affected vehicles to not comply with all of the applicable regulatory requirements.

• Recall 107070 [USA]: If the brake pedal dislodges, the driver may not be able to apply the brakes, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Volkswagen group of america, inc. (volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2011-2016 touareg vehicles. The brake pedal pivot pin may be missing a securing clip, allowing the pivot pin to move and the brake pedal to dislodge.
  volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the brake pedal assembly to verify the presence of the securing clip and install any missing securing clips, free of charge. • Recall 118540 [USA]: An electrical short in the high voltage battery increases the risk of a fire.
  Volkswagen group of america, inc. (volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2011-2015 touareg hybrid vehicles manufactured march 20, 2010, to april 11, 2015. The hybrid battery tray may not drain water sufficiently. If water collects in the hybrid battery tray, it may cause an electrical short in the high voltage battery.

• Recall 76775 [USA]: Incorrect tire pressure information could lead to an owner improperly inflating the vehicle tires. driving on improperly inflated tires can lead to premature tire wear and possibly a crash.
  Volkswagen is recalling certain model year 2011 touareg hybrid vehicles, manufactured from july 2, 2010, through february 3, 2011. The certification labels on these vehicles contain incorrect tire pressure information and therefore fail to comply with the requirements of motor vehicle safety standard no. 110, "tire selection and rims."

• Recall 2016128 [Canada]: Brakes
  On certain vehicles, a securing clip at the brake pedal hinge may have become dislodged during vehicle assembly. This could allow the pivot pin to move out of position, which would allow the pedal to wobble, and could fracture the brake pedal pivot through continued use. A fractured hinge would allow the pedal to separate from its pivot, which could lead to impaired brake function and increase stopping distances, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect and add a securing clip as necessary.

• Pedestrian alert sounds investigation # DP22005

  Nhtsa received a petition on or about july 18, 2022, requesting that federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the united states. The petition can be reviewed at nhtsa.Gov under odi number 11486072.Fmvss 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 kg or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after march 1, 2021.The petitioner asserts that hybrid and electric vehicles to which the standard does not apply should be found to contain a safety defect. In support of the petition, the petitioner includes findings contained in a bill introduced in the house of representatives in 2009, the pedestrian safety enhancement act of 2009, h.R. 734, 111th cong. (2009). A related bill, the pedestrian safety enhancement act of 2010, became law in january 2011 (pub. L. 111-373). The petitioner requests that nhtsa require all electric and hybrid vehicles comply with fmvss 141, regardless of production date.The defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and determine whether to grant or deny the petition.The associated product list is not exhaustive and may contain vehicles that are equipped with pedestrian alert sounds.

• High-pressure fuel pump failure investigation # EA11003

  The office of defects investgation (odi) opened ea11-003 on february 7, 2011, based on 160 complaints to odi and volkswagen involving high pressure fuel pump (hpfp) failures in model year (my) 2009 through 2010 volkswagen jetta and golf and audi a3 tdi vehicles and questions regarding fuel sample results provided by volkswagen as part of its response to pe10-034.During ea11-003, odi analyzed design information, field experience and test data for my 2009 through 2012 volkswagen jetta, golf and touareg and audi a3 and q7 vehicles equipped with tdi engines. Volkswagen has not identified any design or manufacturing defects in the subject tdi clean diesel pumps and has stated that the subject pumps were designed, tested and approved for use in the united states market, with substantial design margins for fuels that are out of specification.Volkswagen believes that misfueling with gasoline is the primary cause of hpfp drivetrain failures in the field.Only the q7 vehicles were built with misfuel protection devices.In may 2013 volkswagen initiated a service campaign to install misfuel protection devices in all my 2009 through 2012 jetta, golf and a3 vehicles.Volkswagen implemented misfuel protection devices in all of the subject models beginning in my 2013. Odi’s analysis of hpfp drivetrain failure incidents indicates that most failures do not result in engine stall while driving and, when pump drivetrain failure does result in stall while driving, it is usually preceded by numerous warning symptoms (e.G., glow plug warning lamp, chime, limp mode, and driveability symptoms).The failure data for the subject vehicles show relatively low stalling rates (less than one percent at three years in service) for each of the pump designs used in the subject vehicles.There have been no reports of crashes, injuries or fatalities related to the alleged defect. Based on these facts, this investigation is closed.The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist.The agency will continue to monitor complaints and other information relating to the alleged defect in the subject vehicles and take further action in the future if warranted.For additional information, see the closing report in the document file for ea11-003.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 volkswagen touareg. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to volkswagen of norwood (1280 providence hwy, norwood, ma 02062) where it was diagnosed with the catalytic converter needing to be replaced. The vehicle had been repaired under an unknown recall however, the failure occurred. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,032.

We have replaced the catalytic converter, both fuel pumps and pre-fuel pump mechanisms and still the odd error message lack of car running. I am thinking about using it as a planter in my yard, currently is it living with the mechanic waiting to behave badly again, so he can try and the problem, but not driveable by an ordinary citizen. It has happened, while slowing down, while turning, all at low speeds, but that doesn't really help much. I still can't drive it. It has 138k on a hybrid engine. It was rear-ended and repaired about 3 years ago, but it ran fine after that for a couple of years. This is a mystery problem.

Water found in the air intake box during air filter change on my 2011 vw touareg. Bottom 3.5 inches of old filter was found wet when air box was opened. This is a serious issue as liquid water that enters the engine during operation can cause the engine to stall while in traffic resulting in a serious safety issue. Water or filter material ingestion into the engine can also result in catastrophic engine damage requiring engine replacement. This appears to be a known issue by vw with no action taken to date, despite numerous complaints from owners regarding this issue. I request that nhtsa investigate this issue and compel vw of north america to provide a fix and conduct a recall campaign as has been done in china and germany.

The vehicle recently completed a 70,000 mile service at the local vw dealer. Two days after the service, the vehicle began to exhibit the faint smell of fuel on the driver's rear side of the vehicle when parked. With each passing day, the scent of fuel continues to increase and now enters the vehicle cabin at low idle speeds (especially when exiting major roads of travel).

My diesel vw touareg needs the nox sensor replaced. Why is this not considered part of the warranty for the emissions system ? Sinde the epa has designated the vw diesels must be either buyback or replaced/repaired it seems apparent that this sensor is just as important to the function of the emissions system but it is not a covered part. This part is very expensive and functions along with the ad-blue pump which is covered.

While driving at approximately 60mph on a smooth two lane wide highway the front sunroof panel (panoramic) shattered. There were no other vehicles on the road, no overpasses and no trees above. It was around 65-70 degrees fahrenheit. It was not hailing or raining at the time. No objects were recovered from inside of the vehicle. The glass appeared to have broken upwards instead of inwards. Fianc and two dogs (trunk area) were inside of the crucible. Glass caused very minor cuts. Vehicle recently detailed and also cleaned by myself. No rock chips present in sunroof glass. No visible cracks prior to incident.
