Code VIN Range From VIN Range To All except Routan 2000–2016 All Gasoline Engines All All All The use of contaminated gasoline, seasonal fuel changes (summer/winter fuel) or gasoline with a low content of deposit control additives may result in one or more of the following conditions: Excessive accumulation of deposits on intake valves, intake manifold, fuel injectors and combustion chambers. Engine runs rough after cold start. Excessive engine cranking time. Stumbles while driving. Rough engine idle. Loss of engine performance. Poor fuel economy. Conditions may be severe enough to illuminate the MIL in conjunction with storage in the ECM data memory of DTCs for misfire (example: P0300, P030x) and / or lean fuel system (example: P0171, P0174, P1128, P1130, P1136, P1138). Electric Coolant Fans Continue to Run after Ignition is Switched OFF Model(s) Year All 2005–2016 (Except Routan) Eng. Code Trans. Code VIN Range From VIN Range To All All All All Note: Customer concerns of “electric coolant fans continue to run after ignition is switched off” are resulting in unnecessary coolant fan replacements. It is considered normal operation for the electric coolant fans to continue to run for up to 15 minutes after the ignition is switched off in gasoline engine applications, and up to 16 minutes in diesel engine applications. Code Tiguan, Jetta, Passat, Beetle, Beetle Convertible, CC 2016 All All This will occur when driving and only when listening to AM/FM radio stations. This results from the antennae signals “bouncing” off of buildings or other structures, amplifying the radio signal. This is a normal characteristic. As such, no repairs should be made. Because of this, any water entering this area remains below the hatch floor cover in the battery tray and is not easily visible to customers. If too much water collects in this area, it could cause an electrical short in the high voltage battery. An electrical short in the high voltage battery caused by significant water intrusion may lead to a vehicle fire. In the event of an inflator rupture, metal fragments could pass through the air bag cushion material, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants. Volkswagen is not aware of any ruptured SDI or PSDI-5 inflator in any Volkswagen Group vehicle worldwide. There have been no injuries or deaths related to this issue.
