This TSB supersedes 23-ST-004G to add the op code and service procedure information
for G90 (RS4) vehicles equipped with an electric supercharger (E-SC).
Description: This bulletin describes the procedure to inspect the steering universal joint dust
cover for noise, and if necessary, apply grease on certain Genesis vehicles.

Inspection Procedure:
1.
With the ignition ON (engine running if applicable), turn the steering wheel left/right repeatedly
and listen for any abnormal noises around the universal joint dust cover.

and perform the cleaning and grease application per service procedures below.

This TSB includes Repair validation photos. Refer to the latest Digital
Documentation Policy for requirements.

Information
For G90 (RS4) vehicles equipped with electric supercharger (E-SC), the 48V battery pack must
be removed to gain access to the 12V battery. Follow the procedures below to disconnect the
12V battery. Other than this exception, the rest of the procedures in this TSB apply to all models
listed, including G90 (RS4) E-SC vehicles.
12V Battery Disconnection for G90 (RS4) equipped with electric supercharger (E-SC):
1.
Center the steering wheel and the front wheels
pointed straight ahead.
Record customer’s radio presets, then turn off
the ignition switch. Wait at least 3 minutes
before continuing.

Centering the steering wheel provides a
reference point when disconnecting and
reattaching the steering universal joint.
The steering u-joint is “keyed” on both
sides, allowing only one orientation of
installation.
Remove the 48V battery system assembly (BSA) by following the procedures described in the
service manual:
Engine Electrical System -> 48V Battery System -> Battery System Assembly (BSA) ->

With the BSA removed, the 12V battery is
accessible. Disconnect the battery negative (-)
terminal.
Continue to the Crash Pad Lower Panel and
Knee Airbag Removal service procedures.

a trim removal tool.
! CAUTION
Be careful not to injure your hands when
removing the cover.

Loosen the mounting screws and remove the
crash pad lower panel assembly (C).

Be sure to replace any damaged clips
with new ones during reassembly.

Unclip the diagnostic connector (E) by pressing
the locking pin and then remove the crash pad
lower panel.

loosen the universal joint upper fastening bolt
(B).

interferes with the universal joint upper
fixing bolt.

wipe off foreign substances and grease.

Apply approximately 5 cc of grease (about a
teaspoon) evenly to shaft upper area (F). Then
push the dust cover upwards. Apply
approximately 5 cc of grease (about a
teaspoon) evenly to the shaft lower area (G).

and there is no noise before reinstallation.

Before installation, check for noise in

When installing, check the alignment
of the handles and insert them into
the steering column and steering joint.

Using STUI, take a photo of the
cleaned and greased universal joint
dust cover assembly with the last 6
digits of the VIN and the date of repair
on a piece of paper.

Upload the photo to STUI.
7.
Reconnect the negative battery cable and
interlock connector (if applicable).
8.
Input the customer’s radio stations.
9.
Drive the vehicle to confirm proper operation.
