STAR ONLINE PUBLICATION
Case Number: S1808000152 Rev. A
Release Date: February 2023
Symptom/Vehicle Issue: CEL (Check Engine Lamp) Illuminates, Recent PCM Replace or
Flash Update Performed, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) P057B Brake Pedal Position Sensor
Circuit Performance, P1572 Brake Pedal Stuck, C0042-54 Brake Pedal Missing Calibration
NOTE: THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) - BRAKE PEDAL LEARN PROCEDURE
MUST BE PERFORMED ANY TIME A PCM IS REPLACED OR UPDATED. THE LEARN ROUTINE
WILL ONLY BE DISPLAYED IN MODULES THAT SUPPORT THE REQUIREMENT.
Discussion: If the vehicle sets a P057B, P1572, or C0042-54 DTC, and there was a recent repair
service procedure that may have involved replacing and/or updating the PCM or replacing a brake
pedal switch, a brake pedal learn procedure/calibration procedure within the Anti-lock Brake Module
(ABM) should be performed.
If the DTCs continue to set after a successful relearn/calibration procedure, continue with the active
fault code diagnostics in Service Library.
NOTE: If the PCM does not have the above listed “Brake Pedal Learn” option available under
the MISC Functions folder, then this SOL publication does not apply, follow the normal
diagnostics to resolve.
