MC20 Preliminary checks for Gearbox oil Leak

This document aims to provide technical indications for the diagnosis of a Gearbox oil Leak (complained
directly by the customer or in most cases noticed during routine inspection).

1.
Thoroughly clean all oil residue/Dirt and allow the vehicle to idle for 40 min.
2.
If present, clean oil residue/Dirt again. Spray trace powder, and retest (during road test or with purge cycle).
Reinspect the suspected oil leak source/area with a UV lamp (or similar).
3.
If the leak from the filter area is confirmed, do a visual check of the cover once disassembled for the
presence of macroscopic porosity.
4.
If the porosity is present, replace both PN 673011242 and 673011251.
5.
If the porosity is not present, replace PN 673011242 ONLY and retest. If, after the test (on the road or with the
purge cycle), it is still leaking, replace component 673011251 as well.

Filter cover as arrived and after each step (powder test).
Open a BOL as “SUPPORT REQUEST” and attach, and report all the information collected throughout all the
above checks.
