2006 NISSAN FRONTIER with 120530. miles

When i got out of college the first thing i wanted to do was to buy my dream car. I had been looking into getting a truck and i was debating between my number one choice a Nissan Frontier or 2nd choice toyota tacoma. I knew the tacoma was probably more reliable in terms of minor parts yet i just loved the design of the Frontier and therefore i bought one in 2006 brand new. Ever since it has been my preferred and only way of transportation. I knew that maintaining it was imperative therefore when it came to an oil change, change of suspension trusts, transmission service, change of spark plugs; it was all done at the proper time. Yet my truck started giving me issues 4 months ago when it would shake or shimmer on road and freeway. Did several tire rotations, did suspension change, yet the issue still persisted. It all came down to a screeching halt when i was going up to sequoia national park for a hike with friends. My Frontier all of a sudden started loosing power and then the gears would just not change. Eventually my 'engine service soon' appeared and was forced to stop our trip. Had to hire a tow truck to bring down the truck and upon scanning i got a P1759 code. Upon researching i come to find out this is a common issue with not only this line of truck but also xterra and titan brands. You cannot believe my disappointment. If it were something simple i wouldn't mind but transmission?!? Really?!? Because of somebodies' mistake when it came to the engineering of the truck?!? And to find out Nissan is just ignoring the issue. Total disappointment and frustration! Now i have to wait for our sweet government to take action since this is a perfect example of a major corporation irresponsibility and ultimately.... Greed. Be warned all Frontier drivers, your time will come.

2006 NISSAN FRONTIER with 109000. miles

When set in d, the rpm's dropped. Next day driving 20 sec. And looses all power. Can shift the gear stick, but the transmission does not engage. No audible warning or anything like that. Just stopped driving. Got code P1759 and P1769. Needs new transmission and radiator because the coolant leaked into transmission. $5500 is the quote from the dealer.

    2005 INFINITI FX45 with 154000. miles

I was driving home and was stopped at a red light. I felt a jerk from under the hood then the check engine light came on. My car then began to drive very sluggishly and struggled to pick up speed. I made it home a few blocks away and had it towed to the shop where i was told i needed a new transmission. The codes i received were P1754, P1757, and P1759. I was told there was a recall for the 5 speed only. I would like to add that i have never had a check engine light on or had any problems wih my vehicle until now. I think it should be expanded to the awd as well.

2005 NISSAN TITAN with 188000. miles

I was driving my truck on a main road and stopped at a stop sign and when i went to accelerate my truck was barely moving, unless i put the pedal to the ground. The truck went into limp mode and after looking into it, the codes P1757 and P1759 came up for the front break solenoid valve and after examining the tcm, i noticed the pin snapped for the front break solenoid, hence making the truck go into limp mode. I researched this problem and noticed that multiple 2005 Nissan Titans have had the same problem of this pin snapping causing the truck to go into limp mode because the solenoid receives now power. I was turning onto a main road where the speed limit was 35 so i accelerated thinking it would do so normal and make it before an oncoming car was coming, when the truck was slowly moving in front of the incoming car, i had to quickly put the truck into reverse to avoid the on coming car because i was excepting to make the turn before the car would come but the truck going into limp mode cause the truck to take much longer to barely make that turn. I was lucky to reverse quick enough for i do not know if the incoming car would have stopped or slowed down in time.

2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER with 84000.0 miles

    POWER TRAIN,

2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER with 110000. miles

Experienced problems with the engine, the check light was on and the gears seemed to be shifting hard and engine running rough as it was in second gear. The recommendation was to first flush the transmission and apply an exterior coolant on to the radiator because of known issues with the radiator leaking into the transmission. This was a temporary band aid because the next time i was going on a long trip, the vehicle shifted hard while driving, jerked and when into 4wd automatically without me touching anything and the check engine light is on again. When you drive over 60 miles an hour the rpms tack up super high and the engine runs with a roar. Had the transmission diagnosed again and the fault codes show a P1754, P1759, P1764,01731, P0102....Basically they are telling me i need a new transmission or a rebuilt one to the tune of 4-5000 dollars, the source of the issue is the faulty radiator which leaked water into the transmission. This is a catastrophic issue to me both safety wise and financially wise and i'm not alone--there are pages and pages of complaints for this same problem you can find all over the internet. I wish i would have known before buying the vehicle but that's water under the bridge. Nissan extending a warranty upto 80,000 miles is a mute point when most of these issues happens after that mileage, to me it's just ridiculous to have such a huge design/component flaw that can cause such a high dollar damage to the vehicle and not have it recognized by Nissan as a recall.
