  On march 3, 2004, general motors notified odi that it was recalling approximately 94,000 my 1995-97 oldsmobile aurora vehicles equipped with 4.0l v8 engines (rpo l47 - vin8 "c") to address concerns with underhood fuel leakage from cracked fuel rails and, in some of the vehicles, cracked fuel return lines. According to gm, the nylon tubing (pa12) used in the fuel rail construction in these vehicles may degrade and crack.Gms supplier attributed the cracking to the combined effects of heat, time, alcohol fuel, fuel pressure cycling, and design stresses.In addition, gm stated that the my 1995 aurora uses a unique underhood fuel return line that may also crack at unusually high rates.Gm dealers will install a new fuel rail constructed out of stainless steel in all of the recalled vehicles and will also install a revised chassis fuel return line in the my 1995 auroras. On april 16, 2004, general motors notified odi that it was adding approximately 389,000 my 1995-97 cadillac seville, deville and eldorado vehicles equipped with 4.6l v8 engines (rpos ld8 and l37 - vin8 "y" and "9") to recall 04v-110.The recalled cadillacs will receive the new stainless steel fuel rails.This engineering analysis is closed.

• Fuel rail leakage investigation as of 20031030

  The fuel rail assemblies used in the subject vehicles were manufactured by dana.The fuel rail jumper tubes were made of monolayer nylon 12 (pa12).In model year (my) 1998, the jumper tube material was changed from pa12 to m-bond (a multi-layer ptfe/pa12).In addition, all service parts produced since the end of production 1997 use the m-bond jumper tubes. Material analysis performed by dana on failed fuel rails showed that the mono-layer nylon 12 jumper tubes are susceptible to environmental stress cracking (esc).Gm believes the esc is a result of heat, time, alcohol blended fuel, fuel pressure cycling, and designed in stress. Eight of the gm complaints are duplicative of odi complaints.Odi has received 77 of its 123 complaints in the past 12 months.Fuel rail part sales over the last three years range from 3.0 percent of production for the my 1997 cadillac vehicles to 13.1 percent for the my 1995 auroras.At least one of the fire incidents occured while the vehicle was parked within a garage attached to the consumers home.The fire resulted in damage to the dwelling as well as the total loss of the vehicle.This investigation has been upgraded to an engineering analysis.

On june 24, 2017 while driving through a residential area heading to the 7/11 store, a hose under the dash board exploded and dumped anti-freeze into the vehicle onto my right foot causing 2nd degree burns to my foot and toes.

"takata recall car started to alarm for no reason when i opened the trunk with the key without unlocking doors then eventually engine would cut out in the middle of driving or car wouldn't start anymore because of the anti theft system disabling the starter. It's said to be a known issue with gm vehicles so i'm curious why there is no recall

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who discovered that the plastic fuel lines were not replaced with the stainless steel fuel lines. The gmc dealer was also contacted and stated that the vehicle was previously repaired according to nhtsa campaign number: 04v110000 (fuel system, gasoline). The remedy failed to correct the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 140,000.

On november 21, 2007 i received a recall for 1995 eldorado cadillac fuel rail construction cracks or deteriorates causing fire in the engine compartment. On novemebr 23, 2007 10:00am drove car 6 miles to shopping center parked car went in came out started car would not start im immediately back fired and went up in flames. From under the hood to back seat. The car is not repairable. Gm has not done anything to correct the problem which is my loss, leaving me without a vehicle for nearly four months. *tr

1995 cadillac eldorado caught on fire in the engine compartment.***transferred to occ***. *mr the fire report stated there may have been a possible small leak occurring in the fuel line from the main line to the harness. This leak was most likely ignited by arcing in the spark line plug cable. *jb

Vehicle continued to experience problem with the fuel rail after the vehicle was serviced for nhtsa recall #04v110000. Dealer stated that there was nothing they could do, and that they replaced the component indicated in the recall. *ak one week after the repair the vehicle cut out and the consumer smelled gas fumes, the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they added a clip. *sc

While vehicle was parked, a fire started in the fuel line. Vehicle was towed. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. *ak

While driving consumer smelled a gas odor coming from the vents. Consumer pulled over, lifted up the hood, and noticed that gasoline was leaking from the hoses onto the engine. Consumer contacted the dealer, and mechanic consumer that this vehicle must come in for inspection. *ak

Nhtsa recall 04v110000 concerning fuel rail tubing. After having the fuel rail replaced consumer noticed fluid leaking from underneath the vehicle. Consumer tool vehicle back to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the fuel regulator needed to be replaced.*ak

While driving consumer smelled gasoline coming through the engine compartment. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that fuel rail needed to be replaced. *ak the fuel rail was cracked and was spraying fuel all over the engine compartment. *nm

While starting up the vehicle consumer smelled gasoline. Consumer inspected the vehicle and noticed that fluid was leaking from underneath the vehicle. Vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that fuel rail needed to be replaced. *ak

This vehicle was purchased by me on 2006. When i brought the car, you can tell there had been a fire. When i received the recall last year, it appeared that the fire occurred from the engine fuel rail. I am unsure if the previous owner had it checked out. If by any chance the engine fuel rail has not been replaced and the cause of the fire was in fact from the fuel rail, it is possible to have all other components fixed that was affected by the fire? *tr

The fire occurred when the consumer attempted to start the vehicle. The consumer noticed that the fuel line had two small holes next to the spark plug wire. (the holes in the fuel line/"rubber line") allowed gas to spray over the entire front of the engine. *scc *jb

The date reported is the most recent (and fourth) episode of illness brought on after traveling in a 1995 cadillac eldorado. After every trip, i developed severe flu like symptoms and sinus irritation. I called a nearby cadillac dealer and they told me it was most likely mold in the air conditioning/climate control system . *nlm

After taking off from a red traffic light air bag light came on, within second both air bags deployed, and damages was done to sunroof/ front windshield, and rearview mirrors. Oil consumption of engine has gotten worse over the last year. It started with 1000 miles per quart, at this time, oil consumption is 350 miles per quart. Dealer has examined vehicle, could not find a leak.*ak

On 12/98, while still under warranty at 38,000 mi., code po39 set as per your 'service bulletin number: 98876517'. I took the vehicle to a cadillac repair center where they replaced the original pcm prom chip with an eprom 3.670 #16266767. It was my understanding that the new chip did not 'fix' the problem but allowed the onboard computer to ignore it, and not set the code po39. Now, 17,000 mi. Later and out of warrenty a code po56 is setting. This is the 'tranaxle input speed sensor' a $10.00 item that requires removal of the transmission for repair! It might be interesting to find out how many cadillacs that required the work outlined in 'service bulletin number: 98876517' eventually (after warranty coverage ended) required transmission removal and repair for a failed 'transaxle input speed sensor' *ak

Have had a oil leak in my 1995 cadillac eldorado engine for the last 3 years. The dealer has tried many things to make this repair when under warranty such as replacing the drain bolt, new oil filters, and replacement of the oil level sensor to no avail. Now that the warranty is off, they inform me that the oil is leaking from the "half case" and will require that the engine be pulled at a cost of between $1800 and $2000. I am told that cadillac is having to make this repair to most northstar engines at about 50,000 miles. Mine has 65,000. *nlm

1.Transmission would not shift into 3rd gear after traveling 45mph. Problem is electrical with the lower case of transmission with the 2 sensors communicating with each other according to dealor, due to electrical problem. 2 previous electrical problems with air conditioning motor shorting out causing it to be replaced. Electrical problem with power cord to battery sending error codes to computer causing warning messages to appear that are false. *ak

Recall number 98v115000 while the consumer was driving lost control and drove into a ditch. When the consumer drove into the ditch, the airbags on the driver's and passenger's sides failed to deploy. Manufacturer has yet to be contacted. *ak

While driving power steering goes out and the vehicle stalls unexpectedly which may result in a crash. Consumer has notified the manufacturer. *ak

Other: air bag sensors got wet causing air bags to deploy violently when the ignition was turned on, shattering the windshield/injuring the drivers right arm/left leg.

When water gets into the passenger compartment floor the airbags will deploy inadvertantly without hitting anything. Please describe. *ak

In a 12:00 position accident at 35-40mph vehicle hit a truck and drivers side airbag did not deploy due to this defect the driver received severe injuries and had to be hospitalized.
