  On certain vehicles, the lower control arm attaching brackets may crack due to fatigue and cause the lower control arm to separate from the engine cradle. Correction: engine cradle will be reinforced at the point of attachment to the lower control arm.

Sackey submitted a petition to the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa) by letter dated april 18, 2003, requesting that nhtsafurther investigate the "defective collapsible steering shaft system" on 1987-1995 vehicles manufactured by the daimlerchrysler corporation.In part because of 49 cfr ? 30120(g), nhtsa has decided to limit the scope of the petition vehicles to 1993-1995 models, excluding the 1993 jeep grand cherokee and 1994-1995 dodge ram series trucks that were recalled (93v210 & 96v230) for steering column failure.If the analysis of these vehicles had identified a potential problem, the scope could have been expanded in an investigation.A review of odis data base shows no recent complaints and a lack of a complaint trend concerning the subject issue on the subject vehicles as a whole or by individual models.Therefore, the petition is denied.For details, see federal register notice volume 68, no. 130, july 8, 2003.

  Nitrile rubber seals used in the fuel rail assemblies of the subject vehicles at the supply, return, and crossover tube fittings, and at the pressure regulator fail, resulting in fuel leakage in the engine compartment.Also, the outlet (right) fuel rail may leak from cracks at certain mold gates in the thermoset rail material.Chrysler will recall the subject vehicles and stated that it intends to replace the o-rings with fluorocarbon o-ring having greater heat resistance capability and attach reinforcements to the rail in the areas where the cracking concern has been known to occur most frequently.Rails that are already cracked will be replaced by new, reinforced rails.

The abs pump went out on the vehicle on august 30, 2013. It has been at the dealer since september 4, 2013. I have information stating that the pump is covered under a lifetime warranty and chrysler corporation has given me the run around on it saying that it does not mean lifetime since it failed again after the original recall repair. I am sorry but i thought lifetime meant lifetime according to the documents that i have and read. They refuse to provide me with an alternate car to drive so i can get to work stating that is not covered either. They are the poorest excuse of a business that i have ever dealt with and tell you something different with each customer service representative you speak to. They cannot even tell the same lies twice. I was first informed that they couldn't get the parts, then told they were on back order and now i am told they do not have an eta for the parts. I will not advise anyone to purchase any of their products since they do not honor warranties or stand behind their products. *js

The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who informed the contact of recall 96v099000 (service brakes, hydraulic: antilock) and advised her to take the vehicle to an authorized dealer. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who refused to perform the recall repair. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that the recall had a lifetime warranty. My 1993 chrysler new yorker fifth ave has a fuel rail leak similar to that in recall cas number 98v18400 and 00v268000. Fuel rail started leaking for no apparent reason on to the engine and is a fire hazard. Chrysler refuses to fix the problem or assist with repairs reference numner #17081073

I own a mint condition 1993 chrysler new yorker with 68,000 miles on it. Last week the engine started leaking a large amount of gasoline from fuel rail onto the top of block and engine compartment. I saw where a recall campaign was issued to correct this safety condition so i contacted the local chrysler dealer to look at the vehicle. He advised me that my vehicle was not part of the recall and will not be repaired under same. How can that be?? It clearly states ""1993 chrysler new yorker"". Now he advises me that the cost to repair a leaking fuel rail/o-ring will be $536.00. This is clearly wrong. I need someone to investigate this defect. *nm

Dt: the contact states there is nhtsa recall campaign 96v099000 concerning anti lock brakes. The vehicle was taken to dealer for diagnostic test, and according to the test, the problem was related to the recall. The dealership maintained it was not a problem, and will not perform the recall work. 1.Car hits a pothole and bottoms out 2. The passenger rear suspsenion kinks and splits fuel lines above control arm, the brake line bracket was the cause of the damages. 3. I have a 1993 chrysler new yorker, which has a recall on the abs system, i had the system replaced by hahn motor company, yakima, wa. Last week, july 21, 2003, the abs and brake lights started coming on again - i called and made an appointment with hahn motor company to have the vehicle fixed. The lights have been on the entire week and this morning when i took the vehicle in - they have had my vehicle all day and are now telling me the system has now decided to work correctly and they cannot find any problem. *ak

The pulley's that the serpentine belt is on, do not line-up, it results in the belt shredding, and i was told that the belt might be thrown off all together. I have had it fixed once but it's starting to happen again.

The fuel rail is a non wear item and a life safety issue that should be an extended warranty item. There is a similar recall on related components but dealer said this is not covered by that recall. This type of failure can lead to engine fire at startup or while running. Manufacturer shuould be held responsible for repair costs.

I had to replace the transmission on this chrysler -- people stop me in malls, supermarkets and ask me if i've had trouble with the transmission as they have -- all the way back to 1990 everyone i've spoken to that has had a chrysler van, new yorker, dynasty, etc. Has had major transmissions problems and/or has had to replace the transmission. In speaking with my local aamco transmission reps and continental transmission rep (a buffalo store) -- chrysler cars are their number 1 repair. I had occasion to speak with the vp of customer service for aamco at the executive offices in pa -- he also reiterated that chrysler is their number 1 repair. This should be looked in to. With all of the chrysler repairs i've heard of just in the buffalo area alone, nationally their has to be thousands of consumers who have incurred a major expense. Please please investigate this. When i purchased this car from an elderly man in 7/2000 it only had 19,025 miles on the car and it was in showroom condition. Around 21,000 miles the car started to have hesitation problems and i didn't know it was the transmission. One local buffalo transmission shop indicated that the computers operating the transmissions were bad and they've had to sell many of them. Thank you and i really appreciate an investigation.*ak

While driving vehicle between 30-40 mph gas pedal became stuck,causing speed to increase. Vehicle had to be placed in park and hand brake pulled to stop vehicle. Cause unknown. *ak

When vehicle is driven over a snowdrift a certain way, the serpentine belt pops off the bottom pulleys. This causes vehicle to lose power steering, heater/cooling, and alternator power.

This car has had many steering and braking problems.

When applying the abs brakes the pedal nearly traveled to the floor, causing extended stopping distance. Also extreme pressure was used to get the pedal to move. Cause unknown. Please give any further details.
