  On certain vehicles, the inflator canister in the driver airbag module may have an inadequate weld near the igniter. In the event of a vehicle crash, the driver airbag may not deploy as intended. • Recall 2001076 [Canada]: Fuel supply
  On certain crew cab vehicles, the fuel filler pipe is mounted to an smc outer fender that does not provide a ground path for the pipe. If the fuel tank is filled from an ungrounded fuel hose or fuel can, a static build up may occur. This could result in an electrostatic discharge and potentially, a fire. Correction: dealers will install a fuel filler pipe ground on affected vehicles.

• Recall 2001194 [Canada]: Seats and restraints
  Certain passenger and sport utility vehicles, pickup trucks, and minivans equipped with seat belts supplied by trw. It is possible that the driver's and/or front passenger's outboard seat belt buckle may not fully latch. In the event of a crash, the restraint system may not provide adequate occupant protection, increasing the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Correction: dealers will inspect the front outboard seat belt buckles and if the buckle fails the inspection process, it will be replaced.

• Front seat belt buckle assembly investigation # EA05004

  During the initial recall campaign in 2001, the subject vehicles were inspected by ford dealerships using a test tool that would detect a defective front seat outboard seat belt buckle assembly.Approximately one million vehicles passed the inspection test for one or both front buckles.Subsequent to the recall service action, odi received 15 consumer reports alleging that a "passed inspection" buckle subsequently failed to latch or inadvertently unlatched during use.In addition, ford has identified 543 owner and field reports alleging buckle failure subsequent to passing the inspection test.Ford tested and examined over 100 warranty-returned buckles and found that 44% of the buckles had no problem or a condition not related to the recall inspection (non-latch related buckle damage or foreign contamination).Warranty claims were highest during the 18-month period after the start of the recall (july 2001) and have been declining during the past 24 months.Over the past 12 months, ford has received approximately 12 warranty claims per month out of a vehicle population of about one million.Complaints counts are also decreasing.During the past seven months, odi has received only two complaints. A safety-related defect has not been identified at this time and further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.Accordingly, this investigation is closed.The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist.The agency reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.

Driving home in the rain, the engine began to lurch and run roughly. Limped home from 200 miles away. Found air filter full of water and fiber material soaked and dripping water. Air intake is at the bottom of filter - encouraging engine to suck water in when driving in the rain. Disastrous design flaw. Is there a tsb or repair???? *tr

Backing the vehicle into the shop when the pin on the clutch pedal failed and the pedal went to the floor. Had to think fast to shut off the truck to stop the truck. Very dangerous situation. Thankfully no one was behind the truck at the time. *tr

While driving the seat belts in front driver and passenger will unlatch while driving. Took to ford dealership in san angelo, tx and their response was that it had been inspected and no problems were found in the past. Now both seat buckles are faulty and warranty/recall repair was denied. Contacted ford customer assistance but no assistance was offered for concern. *tr

Upon entering the highway, the truck suddenly started having problems, the r.P.M. Gauge started fluctuating from 1000 to 3000 r.P.M., it squealed and jerked into gear and a popping noise was coming from the right side of the front end. The dealer could not find any problem, but he suggested that it could have been the clutch fan slipping. Consumer experienced again what he felt was transmission problems but the light never flashed on the overdrive column so taking note of what was happening and continued driving. Then the light started flashing on the overdrive column, within seconds, consumer noticed a large puff of black smoke coming from under the truck, the r.P.M. Gauge went to below 1000, the truck lost all power, and the cab started filling with smoke and fire was escalating under the truck and hood. Possible engine failure. *yd

Problems with ford super duty pickups with diesel engines which caused the death of one man and injured his two minor children. (lawyer on behalf of deceased) *mr the incident may had been caused by an inoperative accelerator pedal of the other motorist vehicle who cuased the accident. Ph *jb *mr
