• Recall 116680 [USA]: A damaged or broken brake disc may reduce a vehicle's braking power, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Bosch brake components llc (bosch) is recalling certain aftermarket replacement front brake pads, models bosch quietcast bc598 and bp765, bosch blue be598 and be598h, prostop pd598 and pd765m, duralast gold dg598, duralast mkd598, stop master st598, ultrastop ult598, ultralife mx598 and mx765, brakebest mkd765, and prostop platinum pgd598. These brake pads, manufactured october 1, 2014, to october 31, 2015 are intended for use on 2001-2007 ford taurus, 2001-2005 mercury sable, 1995-1999 ford taurus sho, 1995-2002 lincoln continental, and 1993-1998 lincoln mark viii vehicles. The brake pad shim may shift out of position causing the shim to contact the brake disc resulting in damage to the disc.

• Recall 41856 [USA]: In addition, if the switch and/or associated wiring fail in the open position, the brake lights will not actuate and the driver will not be able to shift the vehicle out of "park" if they fail in the closed position, the brake lights will remain on, which will not allow the speed control to be activated. this could also cause the battery to discharge.
  Certain passenger vehicles are being recalled to correct a problem with a malfunctioning stop lamp switch and/or associated wiring. • Recall 2004091 [Canada]: Engine
  The process used to manufacture the air filter paper was altered during the 2003 model year production, which resulted in an air filter paper element that can smolder or burn. This change in air filter paper composition combined with the relatively short straight air induction system employed, under certain circumstances, may allow hot carbon debris to be transported to the air filter element during a backflow event. These hot particles may ignite the air filter element with the potential for air induction system damage and/or underhood fire. Correction: dealer will replace the air filter element.

• Front suspension coil spring fracture investigation # EA08018

  To date, odi is aware of 2,401 non-duplicative complaints related to the alleged defect. In addition, odi is aware of 1,411 subject vehicles with one or more warranty claims related to the alleged defect. In total, odi is aware of 3,645 unique subject vehicles that have experienced one or more front suspension coil spring fractures. Odi is also aware of four minor crashes related to the alleged defect resulting in one minor injury.With greater than eight years of exposure, a large subject vehicle population and approximately 2,052 reported front tire punctures caused by fractured coil springs (at all speeds), there have been no reported severe crashes, deaths or injuries related to the alleged defect. The real world consequences of these defective coil springs have been a small number of minor control problems that resulted in minor damage; suggesting that the effect of the defect on vehicle control is minor.A safety-related defect has not been identified at this time and further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted. Accordingly, this investigation is closed. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist.   On october 11, 2006, public citizen petitioned odi to investigate reports of engine stalls caused by e85 fuel in certain model year (my) 2003 - 2005 ford taurus flex-fuel vehicles (ffv). Odis review of the petition and other available data found a low stall rate attributable to e-85 fueling and that the main concerns,prolonged engine start and rough idle during cold engine startup at winter temperatures, were resolved by an engine software update.To ensure that all subject vehicles receive this update, ford initiated a notification campaign to offer free engine computer recalibration.Based on this information, this defect petition is denied. This denial should not be construed as a finding that no safety defect exists.Odi reserves the right to reconsider this issue if future data warrant.Additional details can be found in the federal register notice posted in the dp06-005 public file.

I was backing out of my parking space at work and i heard a loud noise and then fthe air wwnt out of my tire on the front driver side real. Once the tire was removed it revealed a large gash in the side wall of the tire as a result broken coil.

Ford taurus 2003 car safety problem was reported on july 01, 2007.Ford taurus 2003, manufactured by ford motor company had a problem with electrical system: ignition:anti-theft controller. Anti-theft system failing, causing vehicle to shut off while driving.

Driver's side front coil spring broke and punctured tire. Vehicle was thankfully parked when this happened. There was a recall no. 04v332000, for 1999-2001 models - curious why it stopped there? Multiple online forums indicate this issue continued past 2001. Photos available if needed.

The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and the local dealer forsom lake ford(12755 folsom blvd, forsom lake ca.) was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 175,000.

Mavis discount tire passed the vehicle, determining the vehicles condition complied with ny state safety standard of roadworthiness. 12/12/2019, after repairing the transmission at gorilla auto works, i was informed of a serious structural situation, control arm assembly "severely deteriorated". On january 20th 2020, i again referred the vehicle to caskinete ford carthage new york for further evaluation, at ford motor company standards, as was informed, that the control arm assembly was not repairable, at the present condition, did not meet new york state or federal safety standards, contrary to the original status, and inspection , issued 10/23/2019 mavis discount tire arsenal st. Watertown new york. Further evaluations, study revealed, that failure of this condition, underway, at us interstate average speed of traffic, potentially catastrophic incident would result, eminent risk of loss of life. Per us agency standards, i have made all reasonable efforts to resolve this complaint with relevant state agencies, dmv. Etc. Additional efforts included relevant new york state political representatives, to include new york state senate. *please note the, possibly intentional omission by mavis staff, of the vehicles mileage. Obtained by other records.
