  Isuzu technical center of america, inc. (isuzu) is recalling certain 2019 isuzu npr-hd, npr-xd, nqr, nrr, chevrolet 4500hd, 4500xd, 5500hd, and 5500xd. The odometer accurately measures the distance traveled in miles, but erroneously indicates that they are kilometers in the lcd display instead of miles.
  isuzu will notify customers and dealers to inspect the odometer lcd on their vehicle. If the distance traveled is listed as 'mi' (miles), the customer or dealer will be requested to inform isuzu and the recall for that vehicle will be deemed complete. If the distance is listed as 'km' (kilometers), the customer will be requested to take the vehicle to the dealer, and the dealer will replace the meter cluster with one that indicates 'mi' (miles). The new odometer will be reprogrammed to reflect the number of miles traveled that was indicated on the original odometer. The recall began march 13, 2019.   Issue: on certain vehicles, electricity spikes caused by the onboard charger could cause the battery to overheat. This could result in damage to the battery and nearby parts.   Issue: on certain vehicles, the odometer display may show the units of distance as miles instead of kilometers. The actual number display is in kilometers. Safety risk: while the safety risk is minimal, canadian regulations require that kilometers are displayed. Corrective actions: the company will send a letter to owners. The letter will ask them to inspect the odometer. If kilometers are displayed, the customer should tell isuzu and no other action is needed. If miles are displayed, the owner should take their vehicle to a dealer to have the instrument cluster replaced. The new odometer will be programmed to show the number of kilometers traveled.

The contact stated while an employee was using the vehicle she noticed bubbles on side wall of the front passenger's side tire. The vehicle was taken to a tire shop and both front tires were replaced. The contact called south bay truck center located at 7327001005, carson, ca 90746, (310)984-3950, and notified the dealer of the failure. The contact stated there were several other similar company vehicles equipped with the same tires that exhibited bubbles to the sidewall of the tires. Several of the tires were replaced.
