• Recall 59333 [USA]: Loss of brake fluid can lead to a decrease in brake line pressure and an increase in stopping distance, which can result in a vehicle crash.
  Certain aftermarket brake hydraulic master cylinders sold as replacement brake cylinders for certain ford, daimlerchrysler, and jeep passenger vehicles. These brake cylinders were sold under the brand names of napa, raybestos, aimco, ac delco, carquest, bendix, and wagner. Only products that were manufactured from july 27, 2005 through january 17, 2006 (date codes 0529 through 0602) are subject to this recall. When subject to very cold temperatures, an internal seal in the master cylinder could lose flexibility and may cause brake fluid to leak.

• Recall 34172 [USA]: In the presence of an ignition source, a fuel leak could result in a fire.
  Certain aftermarket airtex electric fuel pumps installed for use as replacement equipment for certain 1997-2004 jeep wrangler; 1997-2001 jeep cherokee; 1997-2004 jeep grand cherokee; and 2000-2003 dodge dakota vehicles. The plastic electrical grommet connectors at the top of the fuel pump module are not compatible with automotive fuels and may degrade causing a potential leak path for fuel.

  Bestop aftermarket rear shell roof racks,manufactured between april 27 and may 20, 2004, designed for use with the bestop hardtop made for the 1986-1995 and 1997-2003 jeep wrangler. The cockpit cover may not stay latched to the roof rack because the latch bracket mispositions the rotary latch to the cockpit cover. As a result, the cockpit cover may not stay latched to the roof rack and could separate from the roof rack. 2013 jeep wrangler. Consumer writes in regards to intermittent engine problems, while driving up hills acceleration speeds decrease. *smd the consumer stated upon driving up hills, the check engine light illuminated. The consumer stated after doing some research online, it appeared that another model was recalled for the same problem. Owners indicated the cam shaft sensors and dynamic sensor control needed a tcm update. *jb

My jeep wrangler has have the passenger safety airbag alarming since about a year ago. I contact the manufacturer and i was told that because there is not a recall for my car model, they cannot repair it and that i have to pay out of my pocket. This is an issue out of the manufacturer. Jeep must correct these safety concerns from the owners!

Airbag cover plastic on steering wheel was breaking down. The plastic became very sticky, as if someone poured a soda on it. It would not clean off with cleaners or plastic preservers. I was not confident it would work as designed if airbag deployed so i bought new airbag unit for the steering wheel. Parking brake will not hold vehicle on minor grade. It always worked until the last 2-3 years. I have had it adjusted, the cables replaced, and the brake pads replaced. It does not matter whether my brake pads are new or old. If i do not park the vehicle with the manual transmission in gear, it will move on its own, or if it does not roll backwards, it will, if any light force is applied to it. I had to install install a hydraulic brake line lock on the rear brakes to make sure my vehicle will not move on a grade i know it is an 'old' vehicle, but i like it a lot, it is well maintained and looks new. It is mechanically simple to and inexpensive to maintain. However i should not be having to buy things like airbags who's plastic degrades. I and my mechanic have no idea why the parking brake stopped working as it had before. He is a master mechanic and an expert machinist.

The jeep was involved in a wreck - hit a power pole at around 50 mph knocked it down and the flipped the air bags never deployed - the police officer who worked the wreck said the airbags should have deployed after the type of hit the jeep took

Terrible wobble at 45-55 mph. Tires and front end wobble until i stop or slow below 40 mph. It causes driver to slow at highway speed causing near rear end collisions when other drivers are following. At times wobbles so violently have to exit freeway in order to get it to stop.

There is no low, med or high fan settings on my heater fan. Replaced heater resistor, and wiring harness due to melted harness. Still no heater fan. So as the local jeep dealership parts department had advised that there was an on going issue the heater fan switch. Replaced the switch, fan worked for about 2 hours during my mail route... After the over whelming smell of burning wires coming from inside the dash the fan quit working. So i continued to freeze the rest of my route and hoping that the jeep was not going to catch fire. I had contacted jeep's customer service line to voice my concerns, the lady told me that there was not much they could do for me where my vehicle was out of warranty. I have done some research online and there seems to be quite an issue... I believe that jeep should address the issue even though some jeeps are out of the "factory warranty". This is a huge safety problem, as to all of the wires are factory installed and should be changed and addressed quickly. *tr

At 55 mph the jeep shakes violently, from side to side, until vehicle is slowed to 35mph.

About 5 years ago i took my jeep in because when i hit bumps my radio would go off and on, when i would shake the ignition keys the radio goes on and off. Took it to the shop once they said they fixed it, did it again and i took it a second time, they charge me for new ignition switch and said my keys were to heavy causing wear tear. A few days later it was happening again and i gave up with my dealer in chicago 60660. When i heard of the recent recalls i e-mailed my local dealer and told them the issue and that now i can turn off my jeep take out the keys and radio will not shut off and i fear my safety of the ignition turning off while i am on the highway, at 70 mph. I was told i could bring it in but not covered in recall. I can not afford to pay more money to chrysler for this on going issue and will take a chance of possible death should it stall. *tr

The wrangler "death wobble". Violent shaking after reaching speeds of approximately 50 mph. Must slow down and almost come to a stop to stop the shaking. First occurred a year ago. Took it our repair shop. They replaced the steering stabilization shock, which seemed to repair the problem. It then started to re-occur approximately 6 months later. While driving at 55mph - 60 mph on the highway and hitting a bridge joint, pot hole, or other road surface bump, the vehicle starts to violently shake and become uncontrollable. The only way to stop the shaking is to slow the vehicle to less than 30mph. *tr

When i was driving around 50 mph i hit a pothole and the vehicle start shaking violently. I had to hold the steering wheel so hard it almost went to the other side of the road. This happened already 5 times, i am so scared to take it on the highway, because i might get into a wreck. I have to come to a complete stop for it to stop shaking. *tr

When the jeep is in the 40 to 50 mph range, a "death wobble" happens. Sometimes by itself and sometimes when i hit a pothole or street patch. I have had auto professionals look at the car and they cannot figure out what the problem is. Most of the time the solution is to fix a symptom but not the actual cause. When this happens the brakes must immediately applied hard which has cause near rear end collisions. If auto professionals cannot find the cause then this is not a maintenance issue. I have been getting the famous jeep wrangler "death wobble" when i bring our 03 wrangler to 55 mph on the highway. Today, was very severe and almost caused a serious accident. Dealer claimed to have fixed the problem, but it has reappeared. *tr

I have noticed that the driver side seatbelt will disengage while driving down the road. To remedy the problem i have paid extra attention when buckling in to make sure that it is latched properly. However, the seatbelt sometime still releases on it's own. This concerns me because i fear that when i do need the seatbelt in the course of an accident it will not perform as intended. *tr

I stopped at a red light behind a ford expedition. When the light turned green, i lightly depressed the gas pedal and the car immediately accelerated out of control. This had never occurred before. I hit the car in front of me and was able to aggressively hit the brakes to slow down enough to slow the car and shift into neutral. The car was taken to a jeep dealership and they kept the car for a number of days. They stated they could not find anything wrong and they blamed the incident on an after market floor mat. This would make sense to me if the accelerator was jus stuck at the current speed, but the engine kept speeding up and the tires were spinning when i was depressing the brakes. The car acted like i had the gas pedal fully depressed. *tr

When filling my gas tank, i filled the tank to the brim. Not on purpose, gas came gushing out of my jeep wranglers gas tank, almost a quarter of a gallon. Not life threatening, but cost me about 2 dollars in gas.

Driving above 55 miles, going over a bump or rough area will cause the vehicle to shake violently (nick-named "death wobble" by jeep owners) and becomes very hard to controll. Have to slow down or stop completly in order to get it stop. On the highway where speed limit is 75 miles, it could be deadly. So far we were lucky... We had new steering stabelizers, shocks put in, balanced the tires, had wheel alignment but it keeps on happening. Chrysler suggested to take it in to the shop again (and spend more money on a no-fix repair) is not the answer. It is well known that the jeep vehicles have this whobble issue, they should all be recalled before someone will die. Please help us to get chrysler corp to admit the problem and recall the vehicles. *tr

Traveling at 60-65mph vehicle cut off without warning. No lights on dash came on. Pulled out of way of other traffic and came to a complete stop. Tried starting and started right up. Mileage 77,200. *tr

Researching the internet, i seen several others have had similar complains on the 2003 jeep wrangler seat belt system. My jeep seat belt, as i was un-buckling a few weeks back, came apart, the spring and orange push button came flying out and i can not get it back together. I went to dealership and it will cost me $150 for a replacement part alone on something that was no fault of my own. The other issue is the lack of retraction in the seat belt causing it to get caught in the door sometimes and this can cause safety issues. Since it is a law to wear your seat belt and its in the safe interest of the public to wear one, this posses a problem and should be investigated and fixed immediately.. *tr

The latch plate on my 2003 jeep wrangler snapped in half, rendering me with no seatbelt in a vehicle that is rated at a very high rollover rate. When i pulled the latch plate out to examine it, i saw that the metal used to attach the latch was made of very thin metal, not much thicker than a knife, and that the metal appeared to be made of cast material. In addition to this problem, i have had to replace the seat belt twice on my vehicle, and will have to replace it a third time due to the seatbelt not retracting as it should. This allows the seatbelt to get caught in my door, which has severely cut and frayed the seat belt almost in half. *tr

Warped rotors on 2003 jeep wrangler with 23,000 miles. When the brake pedal was depressed the steering wheel shook, causing steering problems. Plus, the vehicle did not stop as fast as it should because the brake pads did not apply even pressure on warped rotors. If not fixed may result in an accident. The failure continues to persist until the vehicle decelerates to approximately 10 mph. The dealer installed a heavy duty steering dampener on the vehicle. There have been no other failures since the replacement. The current and failure mileages were 48,000.

Rear window pops open when the forward doors are closed. Also pops open when driving down the road. Lets the rain in and rattles. Poor engineering and design. *jb

I have a 2003 jeep wrangler. The problem: the right front rotor continues to warp. Since i have purchased the vehicle in 2003, i have had to have the rotor turned. The warped rotor causes alot of vibration when breaking at highway speeds. When i have spoke to the maintience folks at mack masey jeep they have stated this has been a continual problem with jeep vehicles, they have had approximately 100 come in with the same problem.

"death wobble". On an inconsistent basis the front end begins to shake and wobble uncontrollably at speeds over 50 mph. It feels as though one of the front tires is about to fall off the vehicle. The only way to get it to stop shaking is to pull off highway and slow down below 30 mph. Dealer replaced steering damper but did not correct problem. Tl*the contact owns a 2003 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that when he depressed the clutch pedal, his foot would strike the clutch pin and knock it loose. This caused clutch failure and prevented him from shifting gears. He would have to exit the vehicle to put the pin back in place. The failure only occurred when his foot struck the clutch pin. The contact had not taken the vehicle to the dealer; however, the dealer stated that they would inspect the vehicle. The contact further stated that the hydraulic clutch pedal bin would fall straight down as if his foot slipped off the pedal. The current mileage was approximately 57,000 and failure mileage was approximately 49,000.

My 2003 jeep wrangler has developed a severe shake at 55 mph, and is cupping its tires. I have requested help for this problem from my dealer and chrysler customer service. The dealer acknowledges some jeeps have this problem, customer service says they have never heard of it. They offer no cure but frequent tire rotations. I do rotate my tires frequently but this does not help. When the shaking starts the vehicle becomes uncontrollable, and the only cure is rapid deceleration. I have a 2003 jeep wrangler (under warranty for about 1 more week) that has only been used to drive to work and back, and when i hit a bump, the front end shakes uncontrollably, and i feel as if i will lose control. I took it back and forth between a tire place and the jeep dealership several times. The dealership said i needed tires but the tire place says i don't and since i am under warranty that i should take it back to the dealership. I had the tires rotated and balanced, and the rotors turned, but it still shakes. The dealership kept telling me it was fine, but on one of my trips to the dealership, the mechanic said to me, "oh, you are the one with the 'death wobble'." the dealership decided it needed a new stabilizer bar and tried to sell me a more expensive one, but i insisted with the warranty they should replace it with a warranted part, they did and found a broken bushing and replaced it, but it still wobbles. I took it to another dealership that looked up the history of my car and said that the other place replaced everything they would and sent me home in tears. It wobbled all the way home. I am scared to drive more than 40 miles an hour and can't get anyone to help with this. I feel that i am getting the "run around" because i am a girl. It is not safe for others or me to have this vehicle on the road. *jb

In july 2005, after hitting a small bump in the highway, i experienced severe shaking of the front end of my 2003 jeep wrangler sahara at about 45-50 mph. The shaking stopped after slowing the vehicle to about 30-35 mph. I took the vehicle to the dealer (frank parra jeep in irving, tx) for investigation and repair. I was informed by the service advisor, john ballard, that this problem occurs frequently in jeeps and that it was due to the steering dampener. Frank parra replaced the steering dampener. The problem recurred in march 2006 and i again took the vehicle to the dealer. I was informed by the service advisor, timothy simpson, that the stock steering dampener was not strong enough to withstand the load imposed by the 30 in. Wheel group, which comes standard on the sahara model, and that i would need to purchase an upgraded steering dampener, the "rancho" model, but that it was not covered under the daimler chrysler warranty. We thought we would try the stock steering dampener again. It failed on the drive home from the dealer. I filed a warranty claim with daimler chrysler and checked to see if there were any safety recalls on the steering dampener. Daimler chrysler denied my claim and said there were no recalls. The service representative told me that only nhtsa can authorize a recall. It seems that the steering dampener was not designed properly for the loads imposed by the standard wheel configuration and should be upgraded so that it is engineered properly. Although this has not caused any accidents or property damage, it could have an impact on the ability to control the vehicle in heavy traffic on the highway and raises the possibility of catastrophic failure. It should be investigated. *nm

2003 jeep wrangler rubicon protective shield for transfer case allows dry weeds to accumulate between shield and front driveshaft, causing friction fires to occur at highway speeds with out any warning, resulting in wiring harness damage, brake line failure and gas line exposure to open flame. *jb

I have a 2003 jeep wrangler with 48,000 miles. I am experiencing intermittent sticking of the shifting lever when entering 3rd from 2nd gear. At other times there is no problem shifting. I had it in to the dealer this week. We change the oil. The problem is not a bad. *jb

Vehicle: 2003 jeep wrangler sport since purchasing the vehicle in 2003, i have had problems with the transmission. Automatic transmission shifting from 2nd to 3rd, sometimes higher would cause vehicle to wind up and then harshly shift into gear. Other times, the transmission would not engage at all. Have taken vehicle to dealership several times for repair (under warranty), three times they couldn't find the problem in the computer. They replaced converter most recently. Today, was driving in vehicle and suddenly transmission problem reappeared 1000 times worse - wouldn't accelerate beyond 30 mph, then no higher than 20 mph, and then 10 mph until it wouldn't engage at all. Was stranded approximately 40 miles from home. Had vehicle towed to dealership and am waiting for them to look at after long holiday weekend. I am requesting they give me a replacement vehicle as i believe this has been a problem since its purchase and they haven't been doing their due diligence in resolving the issue.

Dt: consumer stated the clutch master cylinder failed on a 2003 jeep wrangler. This occurred on june 23, 2005. Consumer had no problems prior to this failure. The clutch activation rod pulled away from the master cylinder, causing the failure. Consumer took the jeep to the dealership. The jeep had 37,000 miles on it, and the dealership did nothing about it because it was not under warranty. Consumer tried to tell the dealership that this was a safety issue, but the dealership insisted it was not covered under warranty. Consumer had to order the master clutch and the slave cylinder to replace it himself. The clutch failed while the consumer was driving the vehicle. *ak

The vehicle fuel tank overflows when filling. This is causing fuel to spray out onto myself, onto the painted surfaces of the vehicle, and spill onto the ground. This has been an ongoing issue since the vehicle was purchased. *tr

The road conditions were bad. While consumer was traveling at 35 mph another vehicle turned into the consumer's vehicle, causing the vehicle to collide head on. Upon impact,the air bags did not deploy. Consumer and passenger sustained face, back, ribs, and chest injuries. *ak

The consumer is experiencing problems with the brakes. When the consumer applied the brakes and stepped on the clutch, the vehicle started to accelerate going up to 8 or 9000 rpm's. Provide further details. *jb

We are experiencing the "death wobble". Have been to the repair shop several times but the wobble returns shortly after we get the jeep back on the road. Help.... *tr

The rear differential on my 2003 jeep wrangler is getting water in it from just driving in the rain. The dealer fixed the worn ring and pinion and bearings from the water damage but they did not fix the main problem, which is the water getting in the rear differential. About a month later the same bearing problem started occurring. Daimlerchrysler is refusing to fix the problem again because they say it is customer abuse. I have done nothing but drive the jeep on the road. This is not customer abuse. Daimlerchrysler will find any excuse not to honor their warranty. *ak

I have had the vehicle for 5 months. Appr 4 weeks ago my automatic shifter was stuck in park. After a total of 4 days at the dealership they replaced the entire shifter assembly. 2 weeks later the vehicle died on the side of the road stranding my family 130 miles from home. It was decided by the dealership that there was a blown fuse caused by an electrical short of some kind. After an entire week at the dealership they replaced the main computer and some misc. Wiring (all warranty work). The day after i got the vehicle back it died again, this time stranding my family 90 miles from home. The dealership says that there's still a short causing the fuse to blow. After another week at the dealership they replace a wiring harness that they say is bad. Again it is covered under warranty. The day that i drive home with the vehicle my brakes go out. The vehicle was towed back to the dealership for repairs to the braking system. While it was at the dealership for repairs the fuse blows again. This time they say that another wiring harness is bad and that this time they will not warranty it. I fail to see how they could perform warranty work to solve this problem twice and then decide that they will no longer warranty it. *jb

Automatic transmission intermittenly does not provide a positive gear position lock. Vehicle slips into neutral from drive. Transmission also will not properly lock into park position making it where you can not remove the key from the ignition. Taken vehicle back to dealership twice and they can not find the problem. Concenered the vehicle could slip into reverse from drive accidently.

Driving away from my home in residential subdivision. Turned corner at approx. 5 miles per hour and steering went out. Wheel just spun round and round. *ak

Seat belts do not retract properly causing them to get caught in doors. This results in fraying and abrasions that weaken seat belt. The belts will need replaced soon due to this. *tr

The gear shifter mechanism has a cable that connects to the ignition. When this mechanism fails and locks up vehicle stalls immediately. When this occurs the shifter sticks in the gear. This destroys the ignition. Dealership replaced the cable twice, but the problem recurred. *ak

Rear back seat bent without significant force or abuse to seat

I saw this article in the parents magazine february 2004 and it said that these seatbelts are not safe. The website they gave was unsafebelts.Com. My husband and i own a 2003 jeep wrangler. It is equipped with generation 3 seatbelts. I am asking that a national recall be done on these seatbelts. They become unlatched with just the small push of the button. By this i mean that my children ages 7 and 5 could bump their elbow against it and it will become unlatched. I am a little nervous to let my children let alone myself of my husband drive this vehicle. I would ask that you please issue a recall on these seatbelts so that when we drive we can feel safe and know that our seatbelts will save our lives let alone the lives of others. *la

Paint peeling off of fenders and on the hindges of the hard top and doors. There is a constant ticking, rattle sound coming from the engine. I have driven with the head mechanic,and the dept. Manager. They both have heard the sound. The jeep has been in the shop "9" times and the problem still exhists. I have loss confidence in the local dealership's service dept.*ak

Poor gas mileage. Sticker claims 16 mpg city and 19 mpg highway and i struggle to get 11 or 12 in the city driving conservatively and using quality mid grade gasoline. My last tank i got 10.86 mpg. With city and highway combined i struggle to get 13 or 14. I figure this will cost me around $1000 over the course of my 4 year lease. I have talked to other wrangler owners and they experience the same poor mileage. I will never buy another jeep product. *nlm

We bought a 2003 jeep wrangler sport 4x4 in january 2003. The dealership had put a 3" lift and 32" tires on the jeep prior to it being sold. We purchased it directly from the showroom floor. Three weeks ago the rear differential went out in the jeep. First we were told that the repairs would not be covered under warranty because the lift voided it. After advising a chrysler representative that the dealership put the lift on the jeep, they said the size of the tires caused the damage and i informed the representative that the dealership made all modifications to the jeep prior to our purchase. I was told i'd have to contact the dealership to see if they would stand behind the vehicle warranty. We're in texas now, the dealership we purchased the vehicle from is in washington. We went round and round between the dealerships with the one in washington saying the vehicle was covered under warranty and the one in texas saying, "no". After 3 weeks, it was determined that the damage was caused by 'misuse/abuse' by the vehicle being taken off-road and a stick hitting the plug on the rear axle causing the fluid to leak out. The jeep broke down the day after it was taken off-road. Clearly not enough time for any fluid to leak out, especially with no sign of leakage once it was parked, and the vehicle was driven less than 60 miles the next day. Besides, this was the first time the vehicle had been taken 'off-road' since we purchased the vehicle. I believe we purchased a vehicle that had a faulty rear axle and the dealerships have found another way to pick the consumers pockets without standing behind a vehicle warranty. *la

While driving at 30 mph driveshaft fell out. As a result, vehicle's rear end collapsed. *ak

I've had my 2003 wrangler sierah for 3 months and had the check engine light came on twice. First time was a purge valve solenoid and the second time it was the charcoal canister and the whole gas tank had to be replaced along with another solenoid. Neither of these failures left me stranded but should not have occurred on a jeep with less than 5000 miles on it. *la

Paint chipping and coming off, 2003, jeep, wrangler, 4200 miles, no mud ridding or ruff treatment. Only city and hiway driving. Vehicle appears to have been painted gray (not primer) and top coated with an extremely thin color paint. Patriot blue. Almost no paint inside of tub and under body.*ak

I was involved in an accident on 7/31/03. I depressed the brake in a hard manor but since the gas pedal is so close to the brake, my foot was half on the brake and half on the gas pedal. I checked other makes and models and they have more distance between the brake and the gas pedal. This seems to be indicitive of chrysler products. I have been driving for over 24 years and have a very good driving record. Not once in all those years has this happened. This is the second time in two months this has now happended to me. I purchase my jeep just two months ago. Please check the spacing of the break and gas pedals for yourselves.*ak

Transmission failure - grinding noise is heard when shifting into 2nd and 3rd gears, jerks forward before clutch is let out, will not shift into 5th gear at highway speeds. This is the second transmission to fail in this vehicle.*ak

The dealer states that i have problem with my heating and cooling system.When the air conditioner,or the defroster is in use,a noise that would sound like a drop of water dropping precisely every 4 to 5 seconds,stereos,and road noise do not hide it.The affect is like being in a torture chamber.It littery drives you crazy.

I purchased a new 2003 jeep wrangler rubicon in may of 2003 with the dual top option. Since day one, whenever the full hard door is shut with the windows rolled up and the hardtop on, the rear glass pops open. The rear glass also pops open when you hit a bump in the road. Then the rear glass just flops around and hits the spare tire and you have to get out and push it shut, otherwise i'm afraid it might break the rear glass. My main concern is that it is a safety hazard as the owner's manual says to never drive with the rear window open (on soft top) unless you also have the front windows rolled down or exhaust fumes may enter the driver/passenger compartment and cause carbon monoxide poisioning! I assume the same thing can happen with the hard top on when the rear glass is open 2-3 inches and flopping around! I have taken it to the dealer twice and they tried lowering the rear glass by adjusting the hinges on the glass but the problem still exists. I contacted jeep "star" tech support on 3 separate occassions and filed a complaint (file # 11586375) the service manager at our dealership said that he has seen this problem on some other hard top jeeps and i also have seen the same complaint on the internet on jeep forum chat rooms. Apparently jeep does't take the problem seriously since i have owned the vehicle for 1 1/2 years and it hasn't been fixed yet. Maybe when someone dies from carbon monoxide poisoning they will take action! I believe this is a design flaw. The 2003 hardtop relies on the rear tailgate to keep the rear glass closed and there isn't enough overlap to securely hold the rear glass in place.*ak

I have a 2003 wrangler with a 5-speed manual transmission that suffers from intermittent problems where shifting gears is difficult if not impossible. The problem occurs most often when accelerating while shifting from 2nd to 3rd gears, and when attempting to downshift from 5th to 4th gears at highway speeds. If the vehicle does shift a grinding/banging noise is heard. I have had the local dealer look at it 4 times and they have not been able to duplicate the problem(s).*ak

I would like to request your help regarding windshield damage that occurred on i395 in virginia. I have attempted to contact the company which owns of the dump truck by phone, email, and regular mail (with delivery confirmation), and have received no response. I also submitted a complaint to fairfax county consumer services division but was told that they only handle complaints regarding the sale or purchase of an item. Below is a copy of the letter i sent to owens & sparrow, whose dump truck caused the damage. I have contacted vdot as well, but would like to request your help in addition to vdots. I feel very strongly that it is their responsibility to reimburse me for the replacement of my windshield. I would greatly appreciate your help with this matter. On thursday, may 22, 2003, the windshield of my 2002 jeep wrangler was struck by rock-like debris that flew out of an owen & sparrow, llc dump truck traveling directly in front of me. This resulted in two chips on the drivers side of my windshield. At that time, i was heading north on i395 and was just south of exit 7 (glebe road). The license plate number of that dump truck was 604-442; however, i was unable to see which state the license plate was from. The dump truck also had a 1-800-827-safe sticker on the back of it with the number pg763. As a result of this damage, i need to have the windshield replaced. Since i know that this damage was directly caused by debris from one of your dump trucks, i would like to request reimbursement of $389.82. This amount includes the cost of a replacement windshield as well as replacement of two decals on the windshield that also have to be replaced (fairfax county vehicle decal and emission inspection decal).

According to internal sales brochures and advertisements the 2003 jeep wrangler rubicon is supposed to be the most capable off road jeep ever. My jeep has been nothing but problems, which consists of 2 broken axles, faulty brakes, faulty parking brake, faulty u-joint clips, faulty wheel bearing. After paying the dealer to replace parts that should have been covered under warranty, then realizing that they failed to replace another failed part, called to ask about a workaround until the needed part came in. The advice given was to remove the broken axle shaft and drive without it. This caused brake and wheel bearing failure. An attempt to get the dealer to take responsibility for the repair cost took some time to get resolved. Finally, they fixed the problems and voided the manufacture's warranty. Reason for voiding the warranty was misuse/abuse because the vehicle had been used off-road and had mud on the under carriage. This is unacceptable because you cannot market a vehicle as off-road and then void the warranty if it is used in this manner. The vehicle was never submerged, or in mud/water deeper then the height of the bottom of the front bumper. Furthermore, jeep claims i am a member of a 4wd club that i have no affiliation with and claims a witness saw the vehicle under water. Both not true. Asking for help from the dot to make jeep stand by it's warranty, or have them not market the vehicle as off-road since if using it off road voids the warranty then this is false advertising. *la

I have a 2003 wrangler with a 5-speed transmission. I have had a problem when shifting into second and third gear. It is either hard to get into gear or it grinds as it goes in. The dealership has looked at three different times and has found no problem. The vehicle now has 14,000 miles on it and it now seems to be worse during colder weather.*ak

I have an 03 wrangler, yellow that has the paint chipping off in several places. This vehicle has less than 8k miles & is never taken off road. These are all inner city miles. I have been advised by 2 diff dealerships that this is caused from bugs! This same jeep has also had driveline problems. So much for a heavy duty off road vehicle. *nm

The drivers side seat was angled to the left. The consumer contacted the dealer to replace the seat. When the seat was replaced the seat still angled tot he left. The manufacturer claimed that the vehicle was designed this was to allow the driver to enter and exit the vehicle easily. *ak *nlm *ph

When traveling at 55 to 60 mph vehicle cut off without warning. Vehicle would restart after few minutes. Dealer had been contacted. *ak

Front driver's side wheel lower ball joint separated. Thus, causing the top of tire to go inward and the bottle out at a 45 degree angle. Please provide any further information. Ph
