Recall 2015316 [Canada]: Lights and instruments
Certain vehicles equipped with hid headlamps may not comply with the requirements of canada motor vehicle safety standard 108 - lighting system and retroreflective devices. A daytime running lamp (drl) that is optically combined with a turn signal lamp must switch off when the turn signal lamp is switched on as a hazard warning signal. In the affected vehicles, the drl overrides the hazard flashing functionality after the service brake is applied for more than 2 seconds, which is contrary to the standard. The hazard functionality returns to normal when the application of the service brake is removed. Turn signal functionality would not impacted. Failure to warn oncoming vehicles with flashing hazard lamps could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will update vehicle software.
Recall 2015211 [Canada]: Engine
On certain vehicles equipped with cummins westport isl-g engines, excessive engine crankcase pressure could cause the vent tube assembly elbow to detach from the breather. This could allow engine oil to come in contact with hot surfaces, increasing the risk of fire resulting in injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will install clamps at both ends of the elbow of the breather tube assembly and reprogram the electronic control module (ecm) to improve diagnostic capabilities.
Recall 2015190 [Canada]: Electrical
On certain vehicles, water could migrate into wiper motor head and could lead to internal corrosion. This internal corrosion could form a conductive salt bridge which could result in a short circuit, causing the wiper system to fail. Loss of windshield wiping capability, should it occur during a rainy/snowy day, may compromise the driver's ability to see the road and its users, and a short circuit could increase the risk of fire, which could result in injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will install a shield over the wiper motor to protect it from water intrusions and prevent corrosion.
Recall 2014046 [Canada]: Engine
On certain vehicles equipped with cummins isl g or isx12 g engines, incorrect engine ecu programming could cause the exhaust system temperature to become elevated during cold weather operation. This could also cause flames to be emitted from the exhaust. As a result, nearby combustible material could be ignited, increasing the risk of a fire, injury and/or damage to property. Correction: authorized cummins service facilities will update software programming.
Recall 2014020 [Canada]: Seats and restraints
On certain vehicles, the seat belts may not comply with canada motor vehicle safety standard 209 - seat belt assemblies. Due to a defect in manufacturing, the seat belt buckle may not release as required by the standard. This could hinder egress from the vehicle in an emergency, increasing the risk of injury. Correction: dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace affected seatbelt buckles.
Recall 2013432 [Canada]: Lights and instruments
The stop/turn/tail lights used on certain vehicles may not comply with the requirements of canada motor vehicle safety standard (cmvss) 108 - lighting system and retroreflective devices. The plastic lamp housing may shrink, causing the light to fall out of the light retention ring . In this situation, the light would no longer comply with the mounting requirements of cmvss 108 and visibility to other motorists would be affected. This could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: dealers will replace affected lights.
Recall 2013202 [Canada]: Other
On certain trucks, the slip-resistant surface of the cab access step is not aligned with the cab door opening. This could allow the user to slip and fall from the vehicle, which may result in personal injury. Correction: dealers will replace the step assembly.
