• Recall 129335 [USA]: An incorrect driver or front passenger air bag may not deploy as intended in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
  Toyota motor engineering & manufacturing (toyota) is recalling certain 2008-2016 toyota land cruiser, 2006 lexus lx470, and 2008-2013 lexus lx570 vehicles. These vehicles may be equipped with an incorrect driver or front passenger air bag. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 208, "occupant crash protection."

  Toyota motor engineering & manufacturing (toyota) is recalling certain model year 2003-2006 toyota land cruiser and lexus lx470, 2005-2006 toyota tundra and sequoia, 2004-2006 toyota 4runner and lexus gx470 vehicles equipped with side curtain-shield-air bags. The affected vehicles have an air bag control module that may be improperly programmed, causing the side curtain-shield-air bags to deploy inadvertently.

• Recall 74261 [USA]: This could result in loss of steering control increasing the risk of a crash.
  Toyota is recalling certain model year 2003-2007 lexus lx470 vehicles. The construction of the steering shaft is such that the snap ring on the shaft may disengage when the vehicle experiences an unusually severe impact to the front wheels. If the snap ring becomes disengaged and the steering wheel is then repeatedly turned to the locked position, over time the steering shaft may become disconnected.
  dealers will replace the snap ring with a newly designed one and install an additional component which will prevent separation of the steering shaft. This service will be performed free of charge. The safety recall began on august 23, 2010. Owners may contact lexus at 1-800-255-3987.

• Recall 2016051 [Canada]: Airbag
  On certain vehicles, the roll rate sensors in the airbag control module may improperly calibrate if the vehicle experiences a body roll motion approximately four seconds after the ignition is turned to the ‘on’ position. If the vehicle experiences another subsequent body roll motion, the system may erroneously detect a rollover, causing both of the side curtain airbags to deploy and the seat belt pre-tensioners to be activated. Unintended airbag and/or seat belt pre-tensioner deployment, in a non-warranted (non-impact) situation, could result in injury and increase the risk of a vehicle crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will replace the airbag control module with one which has improved programming.

• Recall 2010254 [Canada]: Steering
  On certain vehicles, a snap ring on the steering shaft may disengage when the vehicle experiences an unusually severe impact to the front wheels, such as striking a deep pothole. If the snap ring becomes disengaged and the steering wheel is then repeatedly turned to the locked position, over time the steering shaft may become disconnected, resulting in a sudden loss of steering control. Correction: dealers will replace the steering shaft snap ring with an updated version.

The contact stated that after having repairs performed under nhtsa campaign id number 10v346000 (steering: gear box: shaft pitman), he began to have problems tilting the steering wheel and the horn would activate independently. The dealer stated that the failure was called an un-commanded acceleration. Through research, the contact discovered a pattern for this type of failure among toyota vehicles. She has not yet notified the manufacturer. The vehicle is not destroyed, however, there is $22,000 worth of damage. A police report was filed. When the vehicle was started the day before the crash, the throttle expanded and the engine began to rev. The vehicle then idled down and began to operate normally.
