• Recall 114929 [USA]: If the shafts separate during vehicle operation, a loss of steering control would result, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
  Dorman products, inc. (dorman) is recalling certain model dorman steering shafts, part number 425-359, solutions steering shafts, part number 7-0359, and oe solutions steering shafts, part number 425-359, manufactured april 17, 2014, to september 28, 2015. These aftermarket replacement steering shafts are sold for use in 1995-2002 ford crown victoria, mercury grand marquis, and lincoln town car vehicles. These steering shafts may separate during operation if the integral fastener is loose or missing and if the interfacing vehicle shaft is compressed in length.
  dorman will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering shaft, free of charge. The recall began on october 28, 2015. Owners may contact dorman customer service at 1-800-523-2492, option 5.

• Recall 2497 [USA]: Loss of visibility while driving increases the risk of a crash.
  Vehicle description: passenger cars, sport utility vehicles, and light and medium duty pickup trucks. A switch located in the plastic cover of the wiper motor gear case could malfunction and overheat, potentially resulting in loss of intermittent wiper function, loss of wiper park function, complete loss of wiper function, or ignition of the plastic cover material. Switch malfunction is most likely to occur when the intermittent setting of the wipers is being used, or when snow or ice obstructs the blades from returning to the "parked" position at the bottom of the windshield. These vehicles were built at the following assembly plants: atlanta plant from 2/11/00 through 7/31/00; chicago plant from 2/14/00 through 8/4/00; kansas city plant from 2/26/00 to 9/4/00; kentucky truck plant from 2/18/00 to 8/31/00; michigan truck plant from 2/23/00 through 8/3/00; norfolk plant from 2/21/00 through 7/27/00; wayne stamping and assembly plant from 2/25/00 through 8/15/00; and wixom plant from 2/15/00 through 8/8/00.

  Certain limousine vehicles do not comply with the requirements of cmvss 110 - tire selection and rims. The front axle weight could be such that the "normal load" on the vehicle's tires may exceed 88 percent of the tire maximum load rating. Correction: tires will be replaced with ones that have a sufficiently higher load rating.

• Front seat belt buckle assembly investigation as of 20050217

  During the initial recall campaign in 2001, the subject vehicles were inspected by ford dealerships using a test tool that would detect a defective front seat outboard seat belt buckle assembly.Approximately one million vehicles passed the inspection test for one or both front buckles.Subsequent to the recall service action, odi received 15 consumer reports alleging that a passed inspection buckle subsequently failed to latch or inadvertently unlatched during use.In addition, ford has identified 543 owner and field reports alleging buckle failure subsequent to passing the inspection test.Ford tested and examined over 100 warranty-returned buckles and found that 44% of the buckles had no problem or a condition not related to the recall inspection (non-latch related buckle damage or foreign contamination).Warranty claims were highest during the 18-month period after the start of the recall (july 2001) and have been declining during the past 24 months.Over the past 12 months, ford has received approximately 12 warranty claims per month out of a vehicle population of about one million.Complaints counts are also decreasing.During the past seven months, odi has received only two complaints. A safety-related defect has not been identified at this time and further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.Accordingly, this investigation is closed.The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist.The agency reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.

On july 16, 2017, i was traveling on interstate 70 east, near washington, pa. All of a sudden my 2001 lincoln started shaking very violently. I managed to pull into a rest stop a few miles away, and noticed that the rear portion of my lincoln was very low to the ground. I managed to drive into washington, pa, and a local mechanic told me that he suspected that the air suspension compressor, which controls the rear air suspension bags, was defective. A few weeks earlier, the "air bags" warning light relating to the rear air suspension bags had come on; my mechanic checked them out and stated that they were fine, as he had replaced both of them, in 2013. However, in retrospect, the computer was referring to the air suspension compressor and probably to the air suspension height sensor. I had my mechanic replace both of those parts. It appears to me that the lincoln personnel should have warned the lincoln town car owners that the air suspension system, which is used on the lincoln town cars, is prone to failure; and, there should have been a warning built into the computer to warn drivers of an impending loss to that system. A light coming on just stating "air bags" is not sufficient. Prior to that problem, i had no idea that there was an air suspension compressor, or an air suspension height sensor to control the rear air suspension bags. Since there are still thousands of lincoln town cars on the road, the nhtsa should at least warn owners of those cars, about the potential suspension problem, which can cause a serious accident while driving.

Airbags did not deploy in hard impact

I have replaced all steering components. And the steering still wonders to bad to drive.

When vehicle is in motion steering wonders back and forth. Center steering only obtain with constant correcting.

Driving down the road at 30 miles an hour, the passenger seat side impact air bag module assembly deployed. There was no crash, impact, or contact with anything. Faulty sensor or controller?

The car has developed poor return to center when turning. It also seems to be sticky in normal highway driving, that is, a minor correction seems to stay until corrected the other direction. This makes the car wander back and forth. I had one mechanic in town diagnose it as lower steering shaft and i have an appointment with my local ford dealer to evaluate the problem. I note there was a recall for this problem for 2005 and later model years. There have been accidents from steering failure reported.

On wipers the intermediate dont work and when washer fluid sprayed cant shut wipers off 2 now on wheels constantly loosing air due to rims peeling and the inside rims are peeling causing tire not to hold air and 3 front end wobbles and raddles had new tierods and ball joints wondering if any recalls were due to be done and previous owner neglected to get done please help

I was driving the lincoln town car when i began to smell what appeared to be gas or some fluid coming into the vehicle. I stopped the car and parked in a driveway and inspected the bottom of the car where there was no leak but a strong odor of gas or some fluid. I then started the car and put into reverse and with my foot applied to the brake backing up in reverse there was a loud pop in the engine and the car shut off followed by smoke and then fire. The car then set on fire and burned for about 20 minutes before the fire fighters arrived to put the car out. It was totaled. *tr

They told me steering corroded but was told that the vehicle is not part of recall. Also called ford motor and they told me same thing. The repairs cost $2000 . I lost control of the car when it hit ice at 9:20a- 1/25/2013 on i-94 near chesterton, in, spun around and crashed twice (front/rear) into the left concrete barrier parallel to the roadway. None of the 4 air bags deployed. I (age 77) and my passenger (age 83) wore seat belts that saved us. Car front smashed; car rear less damaged. Sides are o.K.. Isp report id:201300021141. Neither of us sought medical treatment. My chest still hurts! Air bags would have helped had they deployed. Lake shore ford, chesterton, in (219)787-8600 said car was "totaled." isp officer weems reported that i may receive a ticket for "too fast for conditions." tc failed the only air bag test it ever had. Serious safety issue. No or intermittent exterior lighting at night. Defective (lcm) lighting control module. Ford recall called (customer satisfaction program) "14no1" indicates defective lighting control module controlling exterior headlamps, parking lamps, front side marker, rear tail, license plate lighting may be intermittent or inoperative. E-mail sent to all u.S. Ford lincoln/mercury dealers referencing 2003 2004 2005 2006 model year crown victoria and grand marquis vehicles with an extended coverage period on this part of 15 years or 250,000 miles. Current owned and operated vehicle is: 2001 lincoln town car built on the same platform with same internal parts. Lighting control module is defective causing no or intermittent exterior lighting. Approached ford dealer and was informed vehicle part was under factory recall. Contacted ford lincoln customer service directly and was informed recall was vehicle vin specific and no further help or financial assistance will be provided. This unit is the same part used through the above-mentioned model year vehicles, but i cannot obtain any assistance. Part is also obsolete and cannot be purchased through ford. The vehicle was parked during the first occurrence, now daily occurrence with intermittent or no exterior lighting. Please help! *tr

My family and i own 4 lincoln town cars. Years of them are 2001, 2003, 2006, 2008 and everytime it rains a lot of water gets into to front right passenger side. I'm guessing the frame isn't welding correctly or all the way. Also my friend said he's 2003 lincoln town car accumulates water too when it rains a lot. Please check into this issue to see what the real problem is, which the water might cause electrical issue or other safety hazards of the frame isn't welded correctly. *tr

The dealer confirmed that the water in the manifold penetrated it and caused the engine to fail. The dealer replaced the manifold and the engine for $6,200. The failure mileage was 88,787. My compliant concerns our 2001 lincoln towncar cartier. On 14 june 2009, while driving home from church, it started raining. I turned the windshield wipers on and they worked up to leaving the restaurant. While driving off the wipers would not work. I found myself driving in the rain without wipers. I purchased our lincoln new and only have 33,200 miles on it now. After researching the internet, i found there had been 1,083,000 recalls (01s24) on 2001's for windshield wiper/washer motor. I printed it off and took it to the dealer and explain what had happen and gave then a copy of the recall notice. I called that afternoon and the service rep said they couldn't find the problem and need to keep it overnight. I agreed. I received a call june 23rd and was told they found the problem and it would cost me $538.00 to fix. I asked why wasn't it covered under the recall and he told me that my vin was not listed and therefore it was not covered and there was nothing they could do about it. I denied them the right to fix it at that cost and took it to my personal mechanic. I called the ford customer relations department and talked with two individuals before receiving a call from guy who is there supervisor. I explained to guy my frustration and dissatisfaction. He explained that all recalls are based on investigations and identified with vin of the vehicles. My vin was not listed and therefore there was nothing they could do. There were 1,083,000 recalls for this problem. All vehicles with vin made from feb 15 through july 2000 were included and the plant where my vehicle was made was on the list but the manufacture dates that were included for that plant was feb 15 thru july 2000. My vehicle was made at wixom plant but it was made september 2000. I'm had the same problem, my car was made at one of the same plants but two months later. Where is the logic? I could of had an accident that could have caused the life of someone because of this default. Where is the logic? *tr

After the deployment, the driver's side seat sustained damage on the left side. The contact was not injured. He called the manufacturer and they stated that the air bag module was already replaced under the recall remedy; therefore, no compensation would be provided. The failure mileage was 56,600 and current mileage was 56,637.

The abs light was consistently illuminated on the instrument control panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealership for inspection. I was driving 1-16 west, going speed limit (70) with cruise control when i heard a loud explosion in my left ear (i thought i had been shot), i was so stunned for a moment i didn't realize what had happened, but i turned my head slightly to the left and realized the air bag in my back rest had blown up. Vehicle: 2001 lincoln town car cartier with 45,000 original miles. Date problem revealed: 05/08/2008 at 38,000 miles. Component: powertrain: driveline; suspension: (rear); suspension: (front); steering. Defect summary: certain police, commercial, and passenger vehicles sold input higher loads into the vehicle chassis overloading the wheel bearings and axles. Four wheel alignment check was performed. Rear wheels was not aligned to manufacture specifications, for which, this vehicle has a non-adjustable rear end. Front-end alignment was not in manufacture specifications and could not be corrected due to faulty rear end components. Consequence summary: this could lead to early bearing failure and ultimately to axle shaft fracture. In the event of axle shaft fracture, the vehicle would lose drive function and would coast to a stop. Loss of drive function could lead to a crash. Severely unstable steering at speed above 40 mph and will lead to a crash at highway speeds. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2001 lincoln town car. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle began vibrating. The tire dealer stated that the bushings have come off of the front lower ball joints near the front driver side tire. The failure is related to recall #00d159; however, the dealer confirmed that the vin is not related. The ball joint fractures increase risk of crash. The bolt was tightened and the mechanic advised him to have the dealer diagnose and repair it. The current and approximate failure mileages were 85000.

While my father was driving down the road at highway speed the passenger front side airbag deployed with no warning or impact. The deployment of the airbag at highway speeds without a crash or impact startled the driver which caused him to cross into the lane next to him. This could have been serious had another car been beside of him. Serious injury or even death could be caused if the conditions are right. *tr

The contact stated that the drivers side door handle does not return to its fully closed position and would not remain closed, causing the door to open while the vehicle was in motion. My 2001 lincoln town car has had two failures of seat belt items, specifically the 1w1z-5461202-aab buckle (made in mexico). The failure starts as an intermittent problem where the buckle will not accept the insert to keep us in our seats. Both buckles failed in the same manner. *tr

Certain 2001 lincoln town cars have been recalled for the following failures, among others (1) windshield wiper motor failure, and (2) seat belt failure to latch. I contacted ford motors but they told me my car was not included in the recall even though i was experiencing the same identical problems these two recalls were issued for. My wiper motor has failed and the front passenger seat belt will not lock. *tr

Last wed., nov. 8th., 2006 my lincoln towncar cartier died. When the tow truck came, he popped open the hood and noticed that a fuse had popped up. He pushed it down and the car strted. That same afternoon, it happened again, and i was able to fix it the same way. I had the car checked for electrical defects, as well as fuse problems and there were none. Lithia in reno said that the terminals were loose under the fuse box, requiring a new one total cost: $1900.00 i am very distressed about this. This is a luxury car and it shouldn't be happening. I am afraid it will happen again. I feel that it is a manufacturer's defect and they should pay the expense. I have already spent over $100. Of my own money. *nm

2001 lincoln towncar customer states that the air bags did not deploy**cc the consumer stated that she was involved in an accident the air bags did not deploy nor did the seat belt keep her secure during the collision. The consumer has provided a copy of the letter provided by ford and pictures of the damaged vehicle. *tr

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 25 mph on a dry road, the vehicle hit a small pot hole in the road and the passenger air bag deployed. The air bag light was not illuminated prior to the incident. The dealership was notified.

Dt*: the contact stated while traveling 20 mph, the vehicle's passenger side airbag deployed with no accident involved. The airbag light was not illuminated and there was no braking prior to deployment. The service dealer could not find anything wrong with the airbag.

Comments: our 2001 lincoln town car's drivers side curtain air bag deployed unintended on august 18th, at 7:00 pm while we were driving on a highway. There was no accident, no primary or secondary impact, no debris on the road, no potholes, no logs, rocks, trees, cows, or other debris frequently attributed to an unintended deployment. The ford dealership service manager states that there is an impact mark under the body directly under the air-bag sensor but we were driving on a paved roadway and nothing on the road, and nothing around to "run over". If anything had been run over previously, the airbag should have deployed then, and not waited for an undetermined period of time. The reaction to the deployment had us in the right side shoulder/drainage ditch as we assumed we had been hit by another automobile (none in sight). A quick external examination of the auto showed no impact. We had the car in the dealership recently to have an airbag wiring harness replacement to stop a blinking airbag light, this repair billed to our extended warranty company (?). The current repairs are almost $900.00, which we are having to pay ourselves, for something which should be a ford safety issue. The car should be returned to us early this week (august 28-sept-1). We have no issue about the warranty as the car has 76,000 miles, but this is a safety related situation that could have potentially caused a serious accident had there been another vehicle along side us at the time of the deployment. Dt*: the contact stated while driving 70mph in smooth road conditions, the driver's side curtain air bag deployed with no prior warning. The contact recently filled the vehicle with gasoline 20 miles prior to the incident. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 65mph, the brakes appeared spongy. Upon inspection by the contact, it was discovered the clamp that holds the brake line to the structure had rusted. As a result, the brake line began leaking. The vehicle is currently at the dealer for repair.

Tl*the contact owns a 2001 lincoln town car. Within 1,000 miles of purchasing the vehicle, the seats failed and could not be adjusted forward or backwards. While changing the oil, the dealer found that the rear suspension was failing and the struts needed replacing. If the vehicle were to drive over a pothole, the axle could fail. The manufacturer did not offer any assistance; however, the dealer offered to reduce some of the $1,300 repair cost. The dealer information was unknown. The current mileage was 30,180 and failure mileage was 26,000.

The vehicle had been driven earlier in that day, but had been turned off prior to the fire. The fire department was called and they were able to extinguish the fire. I started the car and when i put it into reverse it suddenly accelerated and hit a number of objects including a small tree. I was finally able to turn the car off. *jb

Dt: 2001 lincoln town car. The contact states the rear suspension collapsed. The contact was driving down the road at 75 mph when the rear suspension gave way. There had been no problems with the suspension prior to this. The vehicle was taken to the lincoln dealership and they say it is not under the warranty. The dealership states there is an air compressor pump that operates the air suspension bag and that quit working. When it deflated, it made the shocks leak on the rear of the vehicle. The suspension is so bad at this point, on the way home when driving over a bridge, the contact's head almost hit the top of the vehicle. This occurred on october 16, 2005. *ak

The consumer does not know if the vehicle was purchased with this problem or not because no one had sat in the passenger seat until now. There is a looseness that allows the seat to move about freely while being seated. This happens at its own free will, no power assist or manual movement necessary. The consumer is concerned because there is a passenger side airbag. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer said there was nothing they could do about the seat, and could not offer any explanation as to why this problem may have occurred. When the car is stopped with my foot on the brake the idle speed will suddenly and uncontrollably jump to a very high rpm. It is difficult to prevent the car from suddenly surging ahead. I have discovered that the only way to stop it is to turn off the ignition. It has happened four times. The first time i was so startled, i wasn't sure what had happened. I thought maybe i had accidently hit the gas pedal and jammed it. The second time, i realized it was none of my doing. I was traveling in buffalo new york and took the car to a lincoln dealer there on june 7, 2004. They could find nothing wrong. When i drove back to virginia, it happened again. I took the car to cherner lincoln dealer in annandale on june 15, 2004.Thet said it was a faulty idle control valve and replaced it. On june 19, 2005 it happened again. I took it back to cherner lincoln. They could not reproduce the problem and so they will not repair the car. In all four incidents i was fortunate that there was no one in front of me and that no damage was done. This is a 2001 lincoln town car with 32000 miles.

She took vehicle to the dealership, and they noticed scrap marks under the car, and said that was the cause of air bag deploying. But she did not hit anything and she cannot understand how that would make the air bags deploy.*ak

I was proceeding south on interstate 71 halfway between cleveland and columbus, at 55 mph. The road was dry. All of a sudden, the car started drifting towards the right. When i turned the wheel towards the left, there was no immediate response. When the car responded, it started drifting towards the left. I had no steering control of my car for about 10 seconds. Fortunately, i was able to straighten the wheels, and regain control. I had my mechanic inspect my car, and he determined that the power steering pump and its associated electronic control switch had to be replaced, as their malfunction caused my loss of steering control. I've since had those parts replaced. I no longer have the old parts.

While driving on a gravel road at approximately 10 mph, airbag from the side of front passenger seat deployed. There was no warning. We heard a loud explosion, followed by smoke and a foul odor. My daughter, who was sitting in the seat was screaming in pain. I immediately stopped the car and exited the vehicle to attend to her injuries. At first we thought she had been shot. She had burns, cuts, and bruising on her back and right side. We both had trouble breathing. We found a police officer and he told us to seek medical attention. Which we did. We contacted lincoln/ford while on our way to the emergency room. We were directed from a recording to contact local dealership with any complaints. We contacted the cavenaugh lincoln dealership in jonesboro, arkansas. We were told that there was nothing to prove that this was a defect that there was a problem in the sensor and that it would cost around $2,000.00 for parts and labor. They even noted on the work order that i thought there was some kind on factory defect and i wanted them to verify or deny this. They in return charged me $103.00 for estimate they made of the repairs. To this date we are still working with our insurance company to see what kind if any changes or repairs the motor company are willing to make. *nm

The brakes did not function at 30 miles per hour which caused the consumer to loose control of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but they were unable to determine a cause. *jb

While i was driving our 2001 lincoln town car south on i95 north of baltimore, the left front tire passed over a piece of debris which triggered only the driver's side air bag. Fortunately, i didn't loose control. However, i appear to have sustained some "moderate ,permanent" hearing loss in my left ear between 250-1800 hertz. I have been under a doctor's care since the event and have taken 5 hearing tests without any signs of healing of the inner ear. Local lincoln dealers indicate that they are not authorized to do the repairs under the warrenty guidelines and refused to fix the air bag/seat even though the car is still under factory warrenty. They directed me to my insurance (geico) .I asked them about having them read out the "black box" hidden analog and pre-even data-they responded that they do not have the software to read this data. Independent companies quote $300 to read out the pre-event data in the washington dc area. I have yet to have the repairs done -which are being covered by geico . I am very concerned about a dealer's inability to assure me that the system is not defective after the repair. I am aware of the odi efforts/analysis related to the tendency of this to happen with this model (before ford modified the sensor location and software in later productions) and i would like to discuss odi's approach in evaluating that this car has no know safety defects in spite of the large number of non-side accidents triggering the side air bag.*ak

While driving about 20 - 30 mph vehicle hit a bump in the road, and the air bags depolyed inadvertantly.*ak

Consumer stated that while driving his vehicle, vibration was felt in the accelerator pedal and in the seat. There is also a moaning noise that went along with the vibration. Consumer did everything to remedy the problem, but problem on vehicle still exists. The dealer told the consumer that they have already done everything in their power, and it's now up to the ford service engineer to take on the issue. The engineer told the consumer that everything is in acceptable limits and that they would not do anything else for the vehicle. *la

Air bag light illuminated. Vehicle was taken to the dealer to repair the air conditioner. When receiving the vehicle back from the dealer air bag light was off. Within five minutes air bag light was back on. Consumer did not know if the dealer did any repairs to the air bag. *ak

While driving 50 mph vehicle was involved in a head on collision. Upon impact, dual airbags did not deploy. *ak

Consumer complained about the light in the trunk. The light became so hot that it melt the plastic cover and caused a fire in the vehicle. *ak *cb *nlm

The vehicle had poor braking capacity, the pedal had to be pushed all the way to the floor, in order to stop the vehicle. *jb

Vehicle suffered sudden acceleration when shifted from park into reverse. Dealer has inspected the vehicle three times and could not duplicate or correct the problem. *tt

The transmission slipped. *mr there was a loud noise coming from under the hood, the transmission leaked fluid, and would not engage when warm. The technician resealed the tailshaft plug. The lug nuts were loose since the vehicle was purchases. The vehicle would cut off while driving. There were rattle noises coming from the chassis when going over bumps. The light had come on, and the temperature would drop by itself. Scc *nlm

Gas shut off value in trunk prevents car from starting from time to time, dealer states unknown why? This has occurred since ipurchased vehicle at least 1o times and reported same to dealer.

Wheel lugs: studs broke off at the hub, vehicle was been driven on a extended charter as this vehicle is a limousine. The vehicle had been driven over the weekend on numerous trips as the client had the vehicle on charter for 2 days. The driver notice that the steering wheel started to shimmy even at low speeds. We have had the same scenario happen on another vehicle before. The nuts on the studs are treaded as though the wheel would still be tight on the hub. No sign of the vehicle being tampered with.*ak

Consumer states was backing out of driveway. Put vehicle in reverse and car suddenly accelerated rearward across the street and collided w/another vehicle. Nlm. Consumer states the the exhaust pipe and muffler were replaced , the front and rear suspension was aligned.*jg

The vehicle contained a severe malfunction flaw in the vehicle. *ak *jb

Consumer states that the brake is to close to the acceleration pedal and adjustable brake pedal is to high. Mr

Vehicle was at a complete stop, there was sudden acceleration. Vehicle lurched forward. Had to slam on brakes, and put vehicle in neutral to stop.*ak *yh

This lincoln town car has been stretched 120 inches. May 2002 stockton lincoln diagnosed system and put dye in and could not find leak. To top it off they wanted 392.00 payment for this.Again in october 2002 i went back in with the same problem. At that time they found 19700a4 compressor assembly-air conditioner remove and installed or replaced (19v703/19703) mileage at that time was 8952. Now april 2003, mileage 13,200 the a/c is out again. The same as before. The drivers compartment gets so hot i have to roll the window down. From october to now i did not need to use the a/c due to it being winter. When i turn the a/c on it becomes a sana in the drivers compartment. I own another lincoln town car (not stretched) and know quite well how to operate the a/c - heater. I have had nothing but problems with the a/c and heater since i purchased this lincoln town car. Help.....

While driving 75mph, vehicle ran over a peice of tire debris in the road. Rubber hit something under vehicle which caused driver's side airbag to deploy and cause damage to panel of vehicle. Manufacturer says it's driver fault.*ak *tt

While parking vehicle at slow speeds with brakes applied, vehicle suddenly lunged forward, hitting two parked vehicles and slamming into a tree. Consumer tried uncontrollably to stop vehicle. Vehicle serverly damaged. *tt

Air bag light stayed illuminated after repaired for third time. Dealer was notified, and repaired a loose wire to air bag sensor.*ak consumer brought vehicle in for repair regarding illumination problem. The next day the light illuminated again. Vehicle was taken in again for repairs only for the light to illuminate days later. Consuemr is afraid to drive vehicle and is requesting reimbursement of monies paid for the vehicle. Also the back of the drivers seat will not stay since having it repaired. *jg

After starting vehicle consumer shifted to reverse, suddenly vehicle accelerated on its own. Vehicle came to a stop when it hit a fire hydrant. Damage was $ 3000.00. On 28, may 2002 ,also at first start, consumer shifted to reverse and vehicle accelerated on it's own. Consumer braked, but was unable to stop vehicle. Vehicle came to stop when it hit a fence. Damage was $ 6700.00. No injuries.*ak

Consumer took vehicle to dealer, and dealer stated that consumer ran over something on the road that triggered sensors for side airbag. Vehicle hit nothing. Air bags will not deploy. Air bag lights had been on for a couple days. When consumer drives vehicle airbag light comes on. Contact dealer, and dealer has vehicle in shop to determine cause.*ak

Passenger side air bag deployed at 70 mph with no impact to vehicle. Lost control of vehicle temporarily and crossed traffic to other side of road. Regained control after crossing back to original lane shoulder and braking hard. Very frightening experience considering the noise, surprise and dust from the air bag deploying. Had come to a complete stop. Was waiting to make a left turn, with foot on brakes, and vehicle started to race/rpms went up. Vehicle suddenly accelerated. Took to dealership the same day to have it checked. Was informed vehicle would need to be left for a few days to be test driven. Owner was provided a rental. Once vehicle was test driven, mechanic could not locate any problems with acceleration. *ak

Consumer received recall notice 00v-270 on the air bags, the consumer has not yet had recall repairs completed due to lack of parts. *slc

While riding over a dead dog the passenger side air bag exploded.*mr after contacting the dealer they stated that a sensor underneath the car obviously triggered the explosion. The consumer had to pay a $500 deductible for seat repairs caused in the incident, and was requesting to be reimbursed for the deductible paid because of the defective air bag system. *cb

The air bag light come on and stays on, the dealer ordered the faulty part and repaired it. Nlm

Consumer states from start up of vehicle, and when driving form 0-20 mph there is a thumping noise, consumer was informed by dealer that with this model vehicle the thump appears when the abs sensor is kicking in, consumer took vehicle back into dealership for the thumps and was informed that the accumulator in the a/c needed to be replaced, but would not correct the problem 100%, the thumps are still there.*jb

Without warning key in ignition would lock when turning key. Mechanic has repaired problem several times; however, malfunction still occurs.*ak

Driver's side air bag inadvertently deployed while driving at 65 mph. Upon deployment, the air bag busted driver's eye glasses. As a result, driver lost control of vehicle, and ended up on the shoulder on the opposite side of the highway. Driver sustained minor cuts.

I'm in the limo business and my problem is with the dealers during warranty. They say the check engine light being on is a mystery and no problem during warranty. Then after warranty they tell you you need $3,000-$6,000 in repairs and parts to get it to go out. So like an idiote i go for it and the light is still on
