  replace center port steering gear cylinder heads with new side port cylinder heads. Also, install thicker bumper stops to eliminate spring to gear contact.

  An insufficient weld where the step is welded to the fuel tank could eventuallly cause complete step disengagement and possible injury to persons who could fall off a broken step while getting into or out of the vehicle. Correction: fuel tank step welds will be inspected for cracks. If cracks are present the tank will be replaced. If no cracks are evident a step support kit will be installed.

• Recall 1989032 [Canada]: Suspension
  Dowels, which locate and prevent movement between the spring cap and the axle housing on the ss65 bogie, may have been omitted during installation of the spring caps. Omission of the dowels would put shear pressure on the four(4) spring cap bolts and could cause loosening or failure of the bolts. This could result in loss of control and a crash without prior warning. Correction: vehicles will be inspected and dowels installed where necessary.

If either of these procedures occured, it is possible that the steering wheel could disengage itself from the steering column causing loss of steering control. Correction: steering wheel retaining nuts will be replaced and retorqued on all affected vehicles.
