• Recall 19524 [USA]: In the event the primary throttle return fails, failure of the secondary throttle return system would not provide protection against loss of throttle control.
  Fuel injection system reconfiguration to comply with engine emission standards cause higher engine vibration levels which lead to early wear and complete failure of the secondary throttle return mechanism.

  The high pressure power steering hose may not meet the rated burst strength pressure requirements. Hose failure with subsequent loss of steering power assist and increased steering effort could result, possibly leading to a vehicle crash without prior warning. Correction: power steering hoses will be inspected and replaced if found to be of incorrect psi rating.

• Recall 1989032 [Canada]: Suspension
  Dowels, which locate and prevent movement between the spring cap and the axle housing on the ss65 bogie, may have been omitted during installation of the spring caps. Omission of the dowels would put shear pressure on the four(4) spring cap bolts and could cause loosening or failure of the bolts. This could result in loss of control and a crash without prior warning. Correction: vehicles will be inspected and dowels installed where necessary.

• Recall 1987015 [Canada]: Suspension
  Note: 1971 to 1987 trucks with neway air ride drive axle suspension. The channel type crossmember installed with the suspension can be overstressed and can fail. The broken crossmember can protrude above the top of the frame and interfere with the trailer chassis components. This could adversely affect handling when turning. Also, a completely separated crossmember with attached height control valves could affect the height of the suspension air springs. The resulting lean could cause loss of control.

• Recall 1987120 [Canada]: Steering
  Vehicles may have been produced with the keyway on the right hand steering arm in the wrong location. With the wheel in an extreme left hand turn and the right front wheel unsupported (i.E., falling in a pothole), a toggle condition could occur. The resulting slow steering return could occur without prior warning and could adversely affect steering control with a potential for a vehicle crash. Correction: incorrect steering arms will be replaced.

  On trucks with mack fa(w)616 or 617 series front axle, the cross steering levers may be improperly heat-treated. This could reduce their fatique life and result in failure. Such a failure could lead to loss of vehicle control without prior warning. Correction:new levers will be installed.
