• Recall 80472 [USA]: The nuts included in the packaging for these ball joint assemblies are missing the intended prevailing torque (self-locking) feature. if the incorrect nut was to become loose, the joining members may loosen leading to a separation of the ball joint. this may result in loss of vehicle control, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash.
  Federal mogul is recalling 6,903 aftermarket ball joint assemblies shipped between november 9, 2007 and march 26, 2008, which may have been packaged with incorrect nuts. The part numbers packaged with incorrect nuts are: k7147, k7329, k8683, and 104353. These parts were made for use on the various vehicles listed above.

• Recall 59387 [USA]: Loss of brake fluid can lead to a decrease in brake line pressure and an increase in stopping distance, which can result in a vehicle crash.
  Certain aftermarket brake hydraulic master cylinders sold as replacement brake cylinders for certain ford, daimlerchrysler, and jeep passenger vehicles. These brake cylinders were sold under the brand names of napa, raybestos, aimco, ac delco, carquest, bendix, and wagner. Only products that were manufactured from july 27, 2005 through january 17, 2006 (date codes 0529 through 0602) are subject to this recall. When subject to very cold temperatures, an internal seal in the master cylinder could lose flexibility and may cause brake fluid to leak.

• Recall 5613 [USA]: This could create the potential for a fire.
  This is not a safety recall in accordance with the safety act. However, it is deemed a safety improvement campaign by the agency. Vehicle description: 1995-1997 ford contour and mercury mystique vehicles. The heater blower resistor could overheat causing the attached electrical connector to melt.
  ford will provide additional warranty coverage for the heater blower switch for 10 years from original date of sale of the vehicle or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. Dealers will install a new heater blower resistor and a new wire jumper harness free of charge.

• Recall 6531 [USA]: Overheating of the cooling fan motor due to excessive current can result in smoke and odors from bearing grease, insulation and other internal motor components. if electrical current continues to be applied to the motor, internal motor components could ignite possibly igniting other engine compartment components.
  Vehicle description: 1995 passenger vehicles equipped with the 2.0l and 2.5l engines, and 1996 vehicles equipped with 2.5l engines. Tightening of the engine cooling fan motor bearings, up to and including motor stall, can result in increased motor torque and higher than normal motor current and accompanying high motor temperatures.
  dealers will install a positive temperature coefficient device in-line with each fan motor. Ford will also extend the warranty on the engine cooling fan assembly to a total of 8 years of service or 100,000 miles from the warranty start date, whichever occurs first. If the vehicle already has more than 100,000 miles, this coverage will last until july 31, 2001.

• Recall 14800 [USA]: Consequence of non-compliance: a fracture or separation in this area would reduce the load that the anchor and the front safety belt anchorages could sustain, increasing the risk of injury in a vehicle collisoin.
  Cracks have been found in the front safety belt outboard anchor tabs due to a combination of hydrogen embrittlement of the tab and stress introduced during attachment of the anchor tab to the seat frame. This does not conform with the requirements of fmvss no. 210, "seat belt assembly anchorages."

• Recall 18934 [USA]: The passenger side air bag may not inflate properly resulting in reduced occupant protection in a vehicle accident. if the igniter end cap separates in a frontal collision, hot gases can be released and ignite flammable material or cause burn injuries.
  The passenger side air bag has an inflator body that cracked during forming of the curl that retains the igniter plug in the end of the inflator. Also the igniter end cap can separate from the inflator.

  On certain vehicles equipped with 2.5 litre v6 engines, tightening of the engine cooling fan motor bearings, up to and including motor stall, can result in increased motor torque and higher than normal motor current and accompanying high motor temperatures. Correction: reinforcement plates will be installed to the attachment hardware of both outboard front safety belts. If the attachment hardware is fractured, a new safety belt will be installed.

  Odi opened this investigation on august 18, 1999, based on four reports of fire involving the engine cooling fan.The reports allege the electronic cooling fan caught fire with resultant damage to the fan and wire harness and/or the harness connector.In its pe response, ford provided information relevant to 46 additional alleged fire incidents and 47 alleged failures of the cooling fan involving thermal damage to the fan.This investigation has been upgraded to further study the issue.

I bought this car on june 22,2011. On that day i told the dealer that the speedometer was acting erratic,jumping up and down. At the time, it wasn't affecting the speed. They said they know and just wait and see what happens. About a month or so later,the speedometer stopped working, causing the car to hesitate a little. I brought it back and they got a cable from a used contour and rigged it so it would work. So they claim.I was also told they just repaired the cable differently. Regardless,they said they repaired it. It worked and i drove it for at least another 2 months or so now and it failed again. I drove back to the shop and they say its a dealer part or they don't even make them anymore? I don't know how fast im going,which is dangerous and as of today,the 9th of sept2011, it doesn't work. *tr

I have had my car in the shop for my vehicle running on the very warm side and not cooling itself down. Many things repaired and now it is doing it again and it is not even the dead of summer yet! *tr

Fluid on the ground apparently coming fro the power steering line under the pump. Also the vehicles at idling 1000 rpm will stall out. Engine light comes on. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 1995 mercury mystique. While adding fuel to the vehicle, she was noticed there was a gas leak. The dealer stated that the part was no longer made and they were unable to assist her. The dealer is aware of recall, 95v232000 - fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly:filler pipe and cap. On your web site i have found several recalls on 95 mercury mystique's one is regarding the ac unit and the wires burning up as well as a floor shifter problem causing the shifter not to indicate the correct gear. I went to friendly ford and they stated to me that my vehicle's vin # was not in the data base as having any recalls. I can assure you that these two issues are in fact occurring in my 95 mystique. I have had it looked at by mechanic's and these two issues are in fact on my car and i need them to be fixed under the recalls. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 1995 mercury mystique. While inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the cooling system was below level and he added antifreeze. Several days later, he noticed that all of the antifreeze leaked out and he filled it back up. He checked the cooling system again a week later and the failure recurred. The heating system was also inoperative. The dealer stated that the vehicle was experiencing the same failure as mentioned in nhtsa campaign id number 00v367000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle has not been repaired. The purchase date was unknown. The failure mileage was 38,000 and current mileage was 38,800.

Tl*- the contact owns a 1995 mercury mystique with a current odometer reading of 149,000 miles. The contact stated that the wiring insulation cracked and left the wires exposes, which could cause short circuits. The contact stated that there was an owner notification about this problem, but the manufacturer never fixed the vehicle, and the campaign expired. Several electrical items under this problem started to fail. *ak

Dt*: the contact stated while driving various speeds, a gas smell was noticed due to a gas leak. The vehicle was driven to the dealer who determined a gas leak in the filler hose was present. There was a nhtsa recall, # 95v232000, regarding the gas tank filler hose and cap. The vehicle was not included in the recall due to the vin.

Dt*: the contact stated, the cover to the seatbelt retractor coil of the driver's side front seat ripped loose. The manufacturer determined the cover was only a decorative cover and not covered by the vehicle warranty. The contact attempted to repair the cover but it did not hold.
