2016 FORD ESCAPE with 75000.0 miles

Vehicle was driving on interstate when it started hesitating and rpms revving up and down chaotically. No check engine or service lights were on. Vehicle towed home, and driven to dealership next day. Same problem started happening when the check transmission light came on and vehicle would not move. Dealership had it for a week and said the torque converter is coming apart inside the 6f35 transmission and needs to be replaced at a cost of 5400 for a reman or 3400 overhaul. Vehicle at 75k miles. Codes P0219/P0735/P0731. Contacted Ford motor co and they did not offer any assistance when notified of this fault. The csr said there is no one at Ford motor company that could let me know how many complaints they have received on the 6f35 transmission, despite employing 175,000 people. There are numerous complaints on transmission failure on this vehicle and it needs to be addressed by Ford. It is absolutely absurd that a car with 75k miles needs a new transmission and Ford will not offer any assistance despite being paid 28,000 for the vehicle! Ford needs to recall this transmission and own up to their faulty manufacturing, again transmission just randomly going out with no prior issues should be a huge red flag. Ford doesn't even recommend transmission service on this vehicle until 150k

2015 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY with 33000.0 miles

Vehicle has 33,000 miles on it and needs a total transmission rebuild. It has been to 2 transmission specialists and 1 dealership and has had sensors and the tcm replaced and reprogrammed. It is still shifting erratically and will stall out regularly, usually in the middle of turns often leading to a stalled vehicle in the middle of the intersection acting like it's in neutral. Vehicle has to be shifted into park and then back to drive for it to reset itself. Very unsafe. Car does have a prior flood salvage title but it is from a open window that only affected the interior minorly, no damage under the hood. After the tcm was replaced it is throwing codes P0731, P0792, P1790. Was not throwing any codes prior to the tcm replacement 3 weeks ago. Issue also happens from a stop with no turn. Issues started summer of 2017 and have been getting worse.

The transmission drops out of gear and cannot be reengaged until vehicle is stopped shut off and restarted. Problem has increasingly gotten worse from a mild fail to engage after a three point turn around to current condition. Last most dramatic event occurred yesterday while on i-75 near lexington, pulling a travel trailer when it dropped out of sixth gear in a construction zone with a tractor trailer behind the truck. Vehicle went to idle, wrench light appeared. There was no throttle response and transmission would not reengage. Had to pull off the side of the road and shut vehicle down. Upon restarting transmission worked normally until reached destination. Two Ford dealerships have not been able to diagnose this problem. Only one error code has appeared, P0731. Transmission fluid was added and code was cleared. Problem was not resolved. Other dealership could not replicate problem with no codes present. Ford customer care has been contacted regarding this issue. Appointment made with local dealer. However, evident they do not know how to resolve.

On several occasions while driving at 50+ mph my truck suddenly downshifts from 6th gear to 1st gear causing the rear wheels to lock up and skid. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership and they refuse to do anything because they can not duplicate the issue. This has happened several times the last time was on the freeway causing me to shoot over 2 lanes of traffic almost causing an accident. The Ford dealership and the extended warranty company ameriplus both refuse to help because they both say that they can not duplicate the problem but the vehicle comes up with dtc codes P0731 and P0722

Experience an intermittent loss of the transmission output. Depending on vehicle speed at the time of the downshift, an unintended downshift into first gear may occur causing the rear tires to slide or lock up until the vehicle slows. This may result in a loss of vehicle control without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. Code P0731 when the code P0731 is set in the powertrain computer, it means that the powertrain computer or pcm is seeing greater than a specified rpm difference between the rotational speed of the input rpm sensor and the transmission output rpm sensor in gear 1.Code P0732 when the code P0732 is set in the powertrain computer, it means that the powertrain computer or pcm is seeing a greater than a specified rpm difference between the rotational speed of the input rpm sensor and the transmission output rpm sensor when the vehicle is in 2nd gear.Code P0733 when the code P0733 is set in the powertrain computer, it means that the powertrain computer or pcm is seeing a greater than a specified rpm difference between the rotational speed of the input rpm sensor and the transmission output rpm sensor when the vehicle is in 3rd gear.

I have a 2012 F-150 flex fuel 5.0. Last night it started downshifting and slamming into 1st gear while driving approximately 65 mph. I stopped for errands got started on the road again and the truck did the same thing but a "wrench" appeared in my dash display. I took it to my local mechanic who diagnosed the problem with P0731 - molded lead frame. He indicated Ford had issued a service bulletin stating a "free" fix of the problem. The truck is at Ford now but Ford is saying my vin is not part of the recall. My truck was built in january 2012 at the kansas city plant. What would make the molded lead frame go bad if it is not part of the recall?

2006 NISSAN ALTIMA with 116000. miles

On my way to work, i drove approximately one-half of a mile. From a stopped position and as i was about to turn onto stone mountain freeway-hwy 78, my car would barely move. I had to enter the freeway. I put on my emergency lights and was able to get off about one-half of a mile further. While trying to get to the dealership, the car lurched and picked-up its normal speed. I went to the dealership, they ran a self diagnostic test and this is what came up: a/t 1st gr fnctn [P0731] once at work, a co-worker googled P0731, and found this recall id # 07v527000 stating that on certain passenger vehicles equipped with a 2.5l engine, the crankshaft position sensor can overheat causing a brief interruption in signal output from the sensor. I called Nissan. They said my sensor had been replaced in 2007. I purchased the car used in 2013. A couple of weeks later, first thing in the morning, it happened again right outside of my apartment complex and before i entered the freeway. This time at about 10 mph. I slowly road on a rarely traveled access road. I just let the car crawl. I did not try to force anything. After about one mile, the car lurched and the speed became normal again. It has happen one additional time since. On saturday, 9-21-2013, i went to the Nissan dealership close to my apartment and i was willing to pay to have the part replaced, but i was told by the service manager that if they can not duplicate the problem, they can not repair it. I was told by the service manager to call Nissan corporate and ask them to open a case. I did. A person called me back and basically reiterated that if the technician can not duplicate the problem, they can not repair the vehicle even if my life is in danger because i'm at risk of being in an accident due to a documented Nissan recalled defect. *js

2001 FORD RANGER with 38397.0 miles

Ford Ranger xlt 2001 transmission problems. I have owned this vehicle from new and now just outside of warranty based on mileage, the transmission is needing rebuilding or replacement. The vehicle has only 38412 miles total on it, warranty coverage only lasts until 36000 miles or 3 years. Vehicle was purchased in august of 2001. No special operating conditions have existed for this vehicle (i.E. Towing, heavy equipment or item hauling). This vehicle began very early saturday april 10, 2004 flashing the o/d off indicator light on the dash panel. I took this vehicle to a local Ford dealership where they indicated that the obdii system was registering 3 different codes having to do with the powertrain system. The codes registering were P0731, P0733 and P0735. According to the service technician who was working on the vehicle there is a tbs for the code P0733 registering. The service manager who i ended up receiving the bad news from only gave me the option of installing a remanufactured transmission at an estimated cost of roughly $2600. I have also taken this vehicle to an independant transmission mechanic to investigate the issue and see what is actually happening. This mechanic has confirmed that the transmission needs to be rebuilt, but also commented that he is seeing more of this happening with this particular transmission model in this vehicle. He also noted that the trend is that between 30-40,000 miles is the range at when this problem happens. I placed a call to Ford motor company's customer relations and they are 'researching' possibilities of financial assistance to repair this issue. The main concern that i have with this 'fix' is that it will be replaced with the same model of transmission and that the problem will occur again in 30-40,000 miles.*ak
