I just bought a 1999 mishibishi eclipse in sept.2004(last month) i took my car in to my mechanic where i have always gone, for a thorough inspection & major tuneup etc. He found that the head gasket is shot.!!!!! It is leaking oil from the engine block, and will continue to get worse. The car only has 63,000 miles on it..!. My mechanic told me this was "famous" for this type car & model, and that mishisbishi should know about this! Upon further research i found he was correct. I went on line to see ratings for this car and found 4 other owners of this car had the same problem and that was just one page of my research!! My mechanic told me no way should this happen at 63,000 miles! The cost to repair this is approx. $2000.00..It is a major repair. Since others have had the same problem, i really feel mishibishi should pay for this repair!!! It is their screwup. And this is unfair to me, the buyer to encounter this costly repair!*ak
