Recall 2020336 [Canada]: Lights and instruments
Issue: certain motorhomes built on a freightliner chassis could have a problem with the rear-mounted power distribution module (pdm). This could cause the tail lights not to work properly. Note: this is an expansion of recall 2019-293. Vehicles that had an inspection, but did not have the pdm replaced under the previous recall, require a second repair under this recall. Safety risk: brake lights or turn signals that do not work could cause a following driver not to recognize that a vehicle ahead is braking or intends to turn. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: newmar will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their motorhome to a daimler trucks north america (dtna) authorized service facility to replace the pdm.
Recall 2019293 [Canada]: Lights and instruments
Issue: certain motorhomes built on a freightliner xbs chassis could have a problem with the rear-mounted power distribution module (pdm). This could cause the tail lights not to work properly. Recall 2018401 [Canada]: Brakes
On certain motorhomes equipped with air disc brakes, the brake caliper mounting bolts may be incorrectly torqued. This could result in the caliper bolts loosening, which could lead to the caliper detaching. Insufficiently torqued fasteners may not provide adequate clamping force between the brake caliper and brake anchor plate potentially resulting in reduced brake effectiveness, which would result in increased stopping distances, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: daimler trucks of north america service facilities will inspect the bolts, and repair as necessary.
Recall 2018189 [Canada]: Lights and instruments
On certain motorhomes built on a freightliner chassis, if the headlight high beams are activated, only the high beam bulbs illuminate. The intention of the high beam function on the affected coaches is to have both the high beam and low beam bulbs illuminate together. Not having the required illumination of the road could reduce the driver’s visibility, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: newmar authorized service facilities will repair as necessary to ensure the low beam bulb will turn on along with the high beam bulb.
Recall 2018037 [Canada]: Lights and instruments
On certain motorhomes built on a freightliner chassis, if the headlight high beams are activated, only the high beam bulbs illuminate. The intention of the high beam function on the affected coaches is to have both the high beam and low beam bulbs illuminate together. Recall 2017651 [Canada]: Electrical
On certain motorhomes, there may be a loose electrical connection to the automatic transfer switch (ats) that was not properly tightened. Note: for more information about recalled fire extinguishers, please visit www.Kidde.Com.
Recall 2016559 [Canada]: Steering
On certain motorhomes, a rubber coated braided power steering hose may have inadequate clearance to the starter power stud due to incorrect routing. This could cause the power steering hose to rub against the stud on the starter motor, which could cause an electrical arc and a power steering fluid leak. A power steering leak in the presence of an electrical arc could increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. A power steering fluid leak could also require additional steering effort which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect and reroute the power steering hose for proper clearance to the starter stud.

The service facility will install a new wiring harness bypass.
Recall 2022297 [Canada]: Wheels
Issue: on certain motorhomes, the tire valve stem extensions for the inner wheels may get damaged by contact with the outer wheels. If this happens, the inner tire could lose air pressure. This could overload the outer tire and cause it to fail. Note: this recall replaces fl-861 (transport canada recall 2020-443). Motorhomes that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. Safety risk: a tire failure could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. This is a class a motorhome on a freightliner chassis. When running at night with the headlights on the entire dash lights flicker and go out completely leaving a dark dash with no instrumentation including speedometer. After talking with newmar corp. When the lights go out the coach is completely dark and you cannot tell speed on anything else. This causes a major problem at night.
