  Certain delphi fuel pressure regulators, p/nos. FP10020-11b1, fP10026-11b1, and fP10027-11b1, sold after january 9, 2007, as aftermarket equipment for various passenger vehicles listed above. The universal pressure regulators (upr) were produced without an o'ring and retainer.
  delphi will notify owners and replace the upr free of charge. The recall began on april 23, 2007. Owners can contact delphi at 877-411-8770.

  Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. Corrosion of the air bag inflator's internal wiring, which can occur over time, could cause the inadvertent deployment of the driver's air bag. This deployment could occur during vehicle start-up, while the vehicle is parked or idling, or while in operation.

Tl* the contact owns a 1995 oldsmobile cutlass supreme. The contact stated that while sitting at a traffic stop, another vehicle crashed into the contact. The air bags did not deploy and the vehicle was destroyed. The contact suffered injuries to the head and was currently hospitalized. The contact called the manufacturer regarding the non-deployment of the air bags and the manufacturer stated that there was nothing they could do to assist. The failure mileage was 168,000. Airbag deployed while traveling down a road with no notice and no incident leading to the forementioned deployment. Stunned and confused-driver could not see and applied brakes and turned steering wheel to left to avoid oncoming traffic. *nm

Started engine normally, began forward movement when brake pedal became exceedingly hard, pushed transmission to neutral, and engine revolutions immediately went to 4600 rpm. Could not regain control of engine speed and/or brake function. This failure mode leads to very dangerous out of control condition. This is a design flaw when this 'fail dangerous' mode is permitted. *nm

Intermittent smoke coming from behind steering wheel, headlights high-beam stuck on, turn signals did not work. Repeatedly moving headlight dimmer-lever seemed to temporarily correct problem. Now unable to get any high-beams, smoke comes and goes, turn-signals come and go, horn stopped working entirely. *jb

My main complaint relates to the disc brakes, rotors, and caliper assemblies on my vehicle. I have owned my vehicle since 1996 and on several occasions have had to replace the brake pads, rotors and more recently the calipers due to them freezing up. Since i have purchased the car i have had at least two instances probably three where i changed my brake pads prematurely because of uneven wear. The caliper was not properly releasing and it was causing one pad usually the inside pad (the one without) the metal strip to wear down. In the first two cases i had to replace the brake pads, and the font rotors. More recently it happened again in the front so i had to replace the front rotors and brake pads prematurely (only a year or less since my last brake pad change). Then shortly thereafter i started hearing a thumping sound from the back brakes when i applied the brake and when it was in for inspection i was told that the back brake assemblies were sticking and that the rotors were damaged. I ended up spending over $800 to replace the rear calipers, brake pads and new rotors while in for inspection. I have had this car for almost 10 years, and taken care of it from day one, but the most disappointing and expensive part is the malfunctioning of the brake system. I don't think i am alone, my father who also owns an olds cultass has had not as much, but some of the same experiences with his brakes, calipers and rotors. I think that there is and has been a problem with them from day one - i don't know why there was never a recall to solve the problem, but either way it has caused me to spend a lot of money ($1500-$2000 or more) over the years replacing things that should work. *ak

Security system malfunctioned, causing the ignition to lock, and vehicle was unable to start. *ak

Vehicle would not start due to a defective battery. The battery was replaced. Three days later, vehicle would not start again. This time, the alternator was replaced. However, problem recurred. *ak *mr

Power steering suddenly failed without warning and no prior symptoms. Sudden total loss of power assist while turning left caused major accident. Car was driven off the road into a brick retaining wall causing over $3,000 damage to the car plus $350 damage to the wall. After towing car home, the power steering returned to "normal" operation. Police report indicates complaint of sudden loss of power assist to the steering causing steering to feel as if it were locked in position. Car is just now repaired and drivable. This is seemingly identical to symptoms on '96 and newer gm cars and should be included in the recall. Fortunately, no one was hurt...This time. Next time, who knows?! *cb

While driving at any speed and when turning corners power steering failed, and consumer had to struggle to steer the vehicle. After the turn was made, a few seconds later, power steering resumed. *ak *jb

When starting vehicle airbags deployed inadvertently.*ak

Consumer states while driving 70 mph, the driver's side tire experienced a blow which caused the consumer to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle rolled over multiple times as it traveled down a steep rock and shrub covered embankment. The vehicle then collided with a large boulder where it came to rest on its roof. Intake manifold gasket failed causing coolant to leak into the engine compartment. This ruined the engine and needed replacing. It was 3.1l gm motor in a 1995 oldsmobile cutlass supreme gl si. *jb

I was driving and something dropped under my hood causing it to be stuck in one gear. I believe my transmission is messed up. It won't go in reverse only forward. *jb

Plastic coupling between fuel sending unit and plastic hose leading to fuel filter on gas line has come undone. Private mechanic states rust build up to the point where unit should be replaced, and dealer claims there was never any bracket installed on fuel filter. *ak

Brakes lo trac light came on, the brake pedal dropped at least 1/2 inch, and the antilock began pulsating. The road was dry. The car stopped normally whenever the abs light was on.

Consumer received recall letter 00v171000 in dec 2000. After numerous calls to dealer and manufacturer he was told parts were not available yet. On bebruary 15, 2001 consumer's son had an accident. Airbags deployed, stunned the driver, and caused vehicle to veer off the road and hit a tree. There were no brake marks on pavement. Driver was killed instantly, passenger died 2 days later. While driving there was gas leaking from fuel injection system. Mechanic replaced fuel line. *ak the fuel leak required a complete fuel line assembly replacing. *yh

While entering freeway during acceleration pedal went all way to floor. Pulled off road, looked under hood, and noticed a cable that was broken. Vehicle was traveling approximately 20 mph. While traveling at speeds over 50 mph vehicle will start to shake to the point where vehicle can lose control if in the rain. Contacted dealer, and the dealer noted that fuel injection system is the problem. *ak dealer performed an injector service, throttle body service, added an adative to clean the valves, replaced the fuel filter, wires, plugs, relay, and the fuel pump, however repairs did not remedy problem. *tt

My car had a loss of power when it reached normal temperature and going on highway speeds. You had to put the accelerator all the way down to the mat in order to keep going. I took the car to a mechanic and they noticed that the engine was running hot in certain parts of the motor. They replaced the thersmostat and flushed the radiator but that didn't fix the car. They recommended to replace the catalic convertor but that didn't fix it either. The next step was to get the transmission tested. That did it, and the transmission had to be rebuilt. The problem is that there's a vacuum leak in between the engine and the transmission causing the transmission to overheat. That caused extensive damage to the transmission. Mr. Transmission (my mechanic) had another cutlass same year, model, & a little more milage than mine with the same problem. A co-worker had the same model, milage, & year and he also replaced his transmission. I had contacted gm and their excuse is i didn't take the car to the dealer and my warranty is expired. I re-searched your site and since 1990 all sedans with automatic transmission from general motors had major problems. By the way, here the transmission model 4t60e. That same model has been used for years on all sedans since 1994.

On friday 10/6/2000 while my sister driving the car, the airbag light in the dashboard comes on with no reason. My sister then desided to take it to the oldsmobile dealership the next morning. The next day, while starting the car, the airbag deployed in her face. I took the car to arnold palmer oldsmobile in charlotte. The service department told me they will check on any recalls by the manufacture. After ten days, they told me there is no recall and the problem was from the horn modula. I think thy did not want to blame it on the manufacture. I would like an answer rather than a cover up.

Pe 00 020/tire tread separation: right rear tire experienced a blowout/tread separation while traveling at highway speed of 70-75 mph with driver and one passenger in a 1995 oldsmobile, cutlass ciera, original equipment, p195/75r14, dot# h4p9deh366. I have purchsed a 1995 oldsmobile cutlass when i first purchased it i thought i was getting a deal, the car was very well maintained and i gave a fairly good price for it. After a couple of months of driving this vechicle i have maintained it new tires, oil changes, keeping it in the very best condition inside and out,new rotors, brakes, windshield wipers,etc. It all starting when i would slow down or go the speed of 15 mph a vibrating started like it was the tires,so i replaced the tires and rotors and it still done it then now it is slipping at take out speed to 15 mph it makes a grinding noise and almost quits pulling until it kicks into like 3rd gear then after that it shifts out perfect but while driving there is a very loud roaring sound like coming from the back. *ak

Ok we baught this car from my inlaws who had the "strut-shocks" replaced three times. I have repalced them twice and now i have a suspension spring that is shattered. I think this is not normal and i believe it is probalby a hazard. It looks like fiberglass and it is splintering terribly. I wouldn't think much of this if i wasn't replacing the strut-shock constantly at a cost of $500 bucks everytime. It has torn out the anti-lock break wiring to the rear wheel. The electical seat would not move when i went to adujust it. I cold smell something burning and checked the fuse box. The fuse for the seat was so hot i burned my finger. While driving 50 mph and had enough time to stop vehicle, but braking system malfunctioned, causing no braking ability at all. Without any warning it resuled in a crash in which the vehicle was split in half horizontally. Common problem. *ak

Low mileage, well maintained, garaged vehicle experienced extensive corrosion damage to hood release cable and area under (and in close proximity to) battery box. Damage caused by long-term leakage of electrolyte from "+" terminal mount bolt hole of maintenance free battery.*ak

Premature rear brake failure seems common for this and the comparable body styles of gm. Gm service managers say this is a common problem. Acquired car with 34k, failure occurred at 60k again at 100k and again at 120k. Gm doesn't seem to care because they claim it is normal for the particular car. *ak

While driving transmission cooling lines broke, causing transmission fluid in to engine and engine fluid into transmission. *ak

Hydralic tension locked up and timing belt slide off of pulley-at that time the valves were down resulting in exhaust leaking through-replacement of values now needs to be done

Transmission failed when driving at 45 mph on a highway during morning rush hours. Transmission slipped and lost power. Can only drive at around 20 mph while other cars following were at 45-50 mph. Fortunately no accident caused. Brought car to royal olds and later was informed that metal shavings were found in transmission fluid. Transmission was disassembled and found the reverse reaction drum came loose. The total cost for the repair is $1,900 but royal olds advised that manufacturer is willing to subsidize $1,200 and i pay the balance $700. The car is only 5,000 miles over the 36,000 warranty and was serviced at 30,000 miles for scheduled maintainance. It has never been used to haul anything. Under normal useage and with regular timing maintainance, the transmission should not fail at 41,000 miles unless there was a manufacturer defect. I feel the manufacturer should pay for the total repair bill of $1,900. Now i need to pay the $700 in order to get the car back, but would like to know whether the manufacturer should be totally responsible, and if yes, how to get my $700 reimbursed.

The brake rotors "warped" on two occasions causing the brake pads to malfunction. They both where replaced 9-26-97 & 8-13-99.

I bought this car on 5/31/98 from autonation usa. The battery died within days of purchase and was replaced. We were told at that time that the alternator was also replaced. We had to put the vehicle in the shop twice more after that for various reasons. In september of 1998 the alternator went out again and we took it to a different autonation location and it was replaced, this is when we were told that they had not previously replced it. Then on 10/10/98 we had to take it in again to replace the alternator and this time they said it was a faulty alternator from the manufacturer that was put in. Today (4/26/99) the car died again the same exact way. I called autonation and was told to make an appointment and that it would cost at least $65 for them to look at it and verify that it was the alternator. Please help. I can not continue to drive this vehicle and endanger the dafety of my children when it continuously dies while driving and i am afraid that i will be run into when this happens. There must be some other explanation than to say that the part is just faulty from the manufacturer. How many faulty alternators can one factory make. Thank you.

After air bag was replaced due to previous accident once again the air bag did not deploy during a frontal collision. Nlm

Engine will falter and/or die at apparently random intervals while the car is in motion or stopped. It is not always possible to restart the engine immediately, and power steering is immediately and completely lost, with brakes losing power shortly thereafter. The loss of power and particularly of power steering causes this problem to be extremely dangerous, and it has occured twice while making low speed turns (which were not properly completed due to the loss of steering) and twice on the interstate causing the car to slow to more than 40 miles per hour under the common speed, nearly causing the vehicle to be struck by other traffic. The car has been taken in three times to correct the problem, but it still persists.

Drivers door hinge tore through body door frame/like large crack weak weld on the frame. First start with a noise when closing door then notice it cracked on the frame.It will have to be welded back. Why? Other top and bottom hinges not like that this one is in the middle the small middle hinge. End.

As i reported to nhtsa on 22 jan.,'98, the abs is defective at slow very slipery conditions. Apparently this is well recognized as the new cadillac 2000 advertises a "new side slip rate control that applies both front brakes to slow things down" this would have prevented my rolling thru an intersection with both this car and a similar experience with my abs equipped 1988 cadillac deville. Both of these cars and all the other abs equipped gm cars are just waiting for slippery road accidents due to a total lack of any ability to stop these cars.Lots of brake pedal just no wheel braking. The new cadiillac addresses the problem but i want my cars fixed also.

Fuel line protection sleeve failed.

Front brake rotors are defective. Oldsmobile failed to engineer sufficient durability in the metal alloys to prevent heat from warping the rotors during normal braking. This heat warpage occurred twice, in two years, to my 1995 oldsmobile. The first warpage became evident prior to my 30,000 mile service on 9/26/97. The front brake pads had 50% of the pad remaining at the 30,000 mile service. When braking, the brake pedal and steering wheel would shudder resulting in potential loss of control of the car. Guy schmidt's service director, rick balasko, told me that the front rotors must be "machined or resurfaced" because they were warped or out-of-round. Rick said the front brake pads also should be replaced because they may have been damaged by the warped rotors. Both front pads and rotors were replaced on 9/26/97. The identical defect recurred prior to the 60,000 mile service on 8/13/99. When braking, the pedal and steering wheel shuddered with a washboard effect. Bill moore and the service manager, bob stephens, said the front rotors were again "out-of-round" and must be machined again, even though there was 50% wear still remaining on the front pads. Bob said the rotors can normally be machined only 3 times before replacing them. Bob said the average driver gets only about 15,000 miles on the front pads before replacement is required. Bob said it is guy schmidt's policy to machine the rotors every time the brake pads are replaced. Therefore, the average driver must purchase new front brake rotors every 60,000 miles (4th machining due at 60,000 miles) at a cost of $300 to $400. This is intolerable for the safe operation of a private automobile. The brake rotors of this model oldsmobile are obviously too soft for the metalic substance in the brake pads. The result is dangerous overheating and warping of the front rotors during braking.

While driving vehicle shut off, losing total power. The dealer repalced the fuel pump in vehicle. Owner was driving after the replacement of the fuel pump and vehicle cut off five times in the same day. *ak

I realize that at the time of filling out this questionairre that this model is no longer being made by gm but i did see i story about the oldsmobile alero having the same problems and felt complelled to write. We have had to replace the brakes four times on this car. We bought the car new in 1995 and it now has 61,000 miles on it. The first two times that the brakes were done they were fixed under the warranty but we have had to replace them ourselves the past two times. The last time was a complete four wheel replacement with rotors and pads all the way around. We were very displeased with the braking system and the fact that they have to be replaced so often.*ak

Each year since the purchase of this oldsmobile i have had to replace my alternator. I previously owned a 1989 oldsmobile and had to do the same. The hesitating/stalling problem is what originally prompted me to get rid of my 1989 and purchase a newer version. I have owned this car for three and one half years and am just now experiencing similar problems. The problem was never identified/corrected in the 1989 car but hopefully, the dealer can correct the problem in my current car. I do an awful lot of driving and do not want to end up on the side of the road with a dead car, nor do i want to enter an intersection and have my car cut out on me. I hope this is correctable! *ak

Can drive vehicle monday through saturday without any major problems, when the car is parked and not driven for one day (sunday) then on monday morning when i try to start it the battery is drained. I have had several electrical problems with this vehicle. The abs sensor has been replaced, fuses are continuosly blowing, several electrical wires have been replaced in the shift column, the turn signal switch had to be replaced because it was corroded, the battery has been replaced 4 times. Also the low coolant light flashes intermitently even though the radiator and tank are full. He abs light has been on for at least a year and the mechanic is unable to find the cause. Brakes are in working order and all sensors are good. Now i am having difficulty starting on hot days, the starter clicks but the engine will not start, after several tries it will then start( about 5 tries), and today i seem to be having problems with the transmission. While entering an intersection from a stop sign i lost power. The engine was running at a top of 2rpm's and could not get over 10 miles per hour. The mechanic still need to give a diagnosis on this latest problem but siad it may be a circuit problem since touching the underhood driver side circuit box caused the car to stall and restart.

This concerns the abs and low traction lights. The abs light comes on and stays on when driving in wet conditions. If i follow the instructions in the manual, which says to turn the car off and wait a few seconds then turn back on again to reset the system, the problem persists. Occasionaly during this time, the low traction light comes on when breaking also during dry conditions. Brake pedal becomes very choppy while applying brakes, then a sudden stop. Not sure what's causing the problem, but think it needs to be addressed before accident occurs.

Consumer called oldsmobile manufacturer ,who called dealer to let them know parts were availble, and recall could be done. But dealer still refused to do it.
