• Recall 45593 [USA]: Fuel may leak, possibly resulting in a fire.
  Certain delphi fuel pressure regulators, p/nos. FP10020-11b1, fP10026-11b1, and fP10027-11b1, sold after january 9, 2007, as aftermarket equipment for various passenger vehicles listed above. The universal pressure regulators (upr) were produced without an o'ring and retainer.
  delphi will notify owners and replace the upr free of charge. The recall began on april 23, 2007. Owners can contact delphi at 877-411-8770.

• Recall 64443 [USA]: If this occurs, the pinion shaft can be forced upward during left turns and back down as the steering wheel is moved back and to the right. if the pinion shaft moves further, the driver will need to exert more effort to turn the steering wheel, similar to a vehicle without power assisted steering. if the pinion shaft moves even further, the driver will require much higher effort to turn left and may not be able to turn the wheel as much as intended. with the maximum pinion shaft movement, which requires internal gear component damage, the driver can encounter high resistance to turning left, followed by unintended power assist to the right. in any of these conditions, a crash could occur.
  Certain passenger vehicles have lower pinion bearings in the power rack and pinion assembly in which the retainer tabs were not crimped properly. These retainers could fail and permit the ball bearings to escape.
  dealers will install a new lower pinion bearing unless inspect of the existing bearing indicates that replacement of the gear assembly is necessary. Owner notification began on february 5, 2004. • Recall 7566 [USA]: If the consumer is too close to an inflating air bag, serious injuries could occur.
  Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. Corrosion of the air bag inflator's internal wiring, which can occur over time, could cause the inadvertent deployment of the driver's air bag. This deployment could occur during vehicle start-up, while the vehicle is parked or idling, or while in operation.

• Recall 2003336 [Canada]: Steering
  On certain vehicles, the lower pinion bearings retainer tabs were not crimped properly. These retainers may fail and permit the ball bearings to escape. If the problem were to occur, the driver would have to exert more effort to turn the steering wheel. Correction: dealers are to inspect the condition of the lower bearing, and replace the lower pinion bearing or the rack and pinion steering gear assembly, if necessary. This is an extension of recall 02-199

• Recall 2000141 [Canada]: Seats and restraints
  Certain vehicles could experience inadvertent or non-crash driver front air bag deployment. This deployment could occur during vehicle startup, while the vehicle is parked or idling, or while in operation. Should the air bag deploy when the driver is up against or very close to the air bag, serious injuries could be sustained. Correction: dealers will replace the driver side air bag module.

• Recall 1999083 [Canada]: Engine
  On certain vehicles, the spark plug wires may be causing the malfunction indicator lamp (mil) to be illuminated, as well as causing rough idle and poor performance. These conditions may be due to a dielectric breakdown of the plastic extender piece at the boot joint of the spark plug wire. Correction: dealers will replace all six spark plug wires with a new service spark plug wire assembly kit that is designed to be robust against dielectric breakdown failures.

• Power rack and pinion steering failure investigation as of 20030915

  Gms letter to nhtsa dated december 11, 2003, expands its original recall (nhtsa 02v286) to include certain w-body vehicles: 96-97 olds cutlass supreme; 98 olds intrigue; 97-98 olds cutlass; 97-98 chevy lumina, monte carlo and malibu; 96 pontiac grand prix; and 96-98 buick regal.The number of vehicles recalled is 750,283.Gm determined that failure of the rack and pinion is related to damage of the lower pinion bearing and the level of the pinion bearing pre-load spring force.Gm states, "higher rack pre-load spring force (133 lb.) is the design characteristic most closely associated with higher bearing damage rates in most of the vehicle applications that used the general bearing company (gbc) bearing."all of the vehicles covered in the expanded recall have the 133 lb spring force.The 96 lumina/monte carlo and 97-98 century w-body vehicles included in this investigation utilize a lower spring force and are not included in the recall.

Hi, i filed my complaint with you on the phone in january. Anyway, i tried to start my car and it would not start, my security light stayed on and i had to have my car towed to berger chevrolet at 2525 28th street s.E. Grand rapids, mi 49512 (616)949-5200. I talked to the service advisor 4102. My vehicle was with berger chevy from january 02 to january 05,2015. My invoice states my ignition lock cylinder and two keys were replaced. I would like to be reimbursed for $723.56. Please help

Cadillac & 1996 oldsmobile cutlass ciera. Consumer writes in regards to both vehicle sudden acceleration issues. *smd the consumer stated often, the engine would speed up randomly while idling or in park, as though he were traveling 50 mph. Several times, the vehicle would abruptly shut down. *jb

Driving down the highway and went to turn the corner at a green light and the steering wheel was hard to turn i almost hit another car. The air bags light has been staying on since 2009.

Could not turn ignition switch off. Needed to disconnect the cable to the power coil to turn off the engine. After several similar incidents, had to replace the ignition switch at a cost of $147.15. Gm has a recall for a similar problem on several later model cars. Request reimbursement of my costs. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 1996 oldsmobile cutlass supreme. While driving approximately 5 mph and turning the steering wheel, the contact heard a popping sound. The contact stated the sound was heard anytime a turn was made. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated there was a recall nhtsa campaign id number: 03v527000 (steering: rack and pinion) but the vehicle was not included. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 1996 oldsmobile ciera. While driving approximately 30 to 40 mph she heard a rubbing and squeaking noise in the front of the vehicle. She stated that when she was making a turn, the vehicle made a squeaking noise. She continued to drive the vehicle to a local repair shop. The mechanic looked under the hood and noticed that the strut housing was pushing up against the hood. The dealer told the contact that there were no related recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. She stated that the vehicle was not drivable. The approximate failure and current mileages were 200,000.

1996 oldsmobile cutlass supreme, the rear strut mount brackets are bad, everyone we have spoken to have had them break even those who have purchased there vehicles new have said the brackets failed and had to be replaced within the first year of purchase. If the bracket breaks it can lead the driver to wreck or even the strut being propelled through the back seat. The bolts holding the brackets in place sheered off. We do have the original bracket. *tr

I was accelerating to make a lane change while on the freeway (going about 60-63 mph) in heavy traffic (55-58 mph) and when i removed my foot from the accelerator pedal the car kept accelerating. I tried feathering the brake pedal and got very little slow down so began to brake with both feet but with little effect. Car was vibrating and i had to keep both hands on steering wheel to try and maintain control of vehicle and also get maximum leverage on floor brake. I managed to maneuver the car to an off ramp, drove over the on-off ramp divider into a field. At this point i applied the emergency brake and the car began fishtailing and almost flipped over. I headed towards a grassy incline and this finally stopped the car at which point i turned off the engine. I observed the accelerator pedal was limp on the floor of the car. A person driving behind me stopped to call state patrol and confirm that he witnessed my brake lights on but only the left rear tire braking. The state trooper confirmed this by observing a single tire skid mark on the off-ramp. Accelerator throttle cable replaced. *tr

Dt*: the contact stated while traveling 30 mph in dry road conditions, the abs light illuminated when the brake pedal was depressed. Also, the brake pedal went to the floorboard, and stopping distance was increased. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop who performed a diagnostic, but could not determine the problem. The brake pads were replaced, but the problem recurred 5 months later while traveling 30 mph. The dealership was contacted, but never returned a call. The contact expressed concern that the abs system was defective, and could a pose serious risk if the problem recurred in heavy traffic.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 40 mph the smell of smoke could be detected. The vehicle was pulled off the side of the road. Within a few minutes the smoke went away and the vehicle was restarted. A few moments later the vehicle was on fire under the hood. Smoke filled the vehicle, the doors would not unlock, and the windows would not roll down. The occupant climbed to the back seat and tried to kick the windows out. Someone saw the vehicle on fire and extinguished the fire. Injuries were sustained, the vehicle was totaled. The vehicle has not been inspected. The manufacturer has not been contacted, updated 05/30/06. *ak

Ltr fm consumer (fl) re defective 1996 oldsmobile ciera. *ts six months after vehicle was purchased the consumer notice that the service engine light would flash on and off intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the oxygen sensor. The vehicle ran fine for a while then the check engine light illuminated again. The dealer replaced another sensor. Eventually the vehicle's engine overheated which resulted in engine damage. This failure occurred under 100,000 miles . The fuel gauge never gave the actual fuel tank reading. The fuel needle would fluctuate while the vehicle was being driven at various speed. Many batteries have been replaced in the vehicle because they fail unexpectedly. The battery indicator never illuminated indicating there was a problem. *nm

Power steering failed. My wife nearly hit a tree. *jb

The abs check light remained on, which the owner's manual indicated that the brakes may not operate properly. Consumer contacted manufacturer.*ak the brake lights failed and a wire within the steering column broke. *nm

I was driving across town when i noticed my engine was overheating. I was right down the street from my mechanic, so i stopped there. What was left of my coolant emptied out onto the ground as a i watched. My coolant intake gaskethad given out. The repair guy told me after he fixed it that it had virtually disappeared at some places. He also called me at some point to inform me that my fuel line had given out and was leaking. Thankfully the shop was able to fix everything quickly, as i use my car for commuting to college and work.

The driver had difficulty making left turns. When turning left the steering gets hard and the driver was unable to steer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. The cause has not been determined at this time. Please provide further details. *jb

Was driving the car noticed it was not warming up checked anti freeze and noticed it was low in radiator and in overflow container. Added anti freeze looked to see if had been leaking at hoses or was after adding anti freeze and it did not appear to have been leaking at any hoses or from radiator. Started car did not run right shut engine off pulled dipstick and found oil to be discolored. Called around and found that this year engine made by general motors is known to blow the intake manifold gaskets and that this exact car had already been repaired for this same problem prior to my purchasing this car 2 years ago. Old engine is available. Have estimated mileage until it is towed back home. This car was originally owned by my aunt and uncle was sold to my mom joan roodbergen she never drove it and i purchased it from them in october of 2002. I knew the intake manifold had already failed once and was repaired by mullins auto service. *jb

There were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 5,000.

While driving the temperature gauge went hot. Consumer took the vehicle to a mechanic before the vehicle overheats. The dealership has serviced the vehicle 4 times for this issue, in which the thermostat, the water pump, the radiator and the intake gasket were replaced. However, the problem still exist. *la

Consumer took vehicle for a regular maintenance to independent shop, and mechanic determined that head gasket was leaking coolant, intake manifold was replaced at consumer's expense of $410.00. *ak *nm

The consumer heard a ticking noise from the engine. Upon inspection of the noise by the dealership they noticed that the intake manifold gasket was leaking coolant into the oil. This occurs because the manifold is make of plastic. *nm

Steering is almost impossible to turn during low speed left hand turns. Problem is intermittent.

Vehicle did not give any warning that the battery was discharging. This occurred while driving 55mph on interstate 95 in ma. The electrical system completely shut down as i exited the road. Second time this happened in 4 years. No icons came on to warn me. Frightening experience to have car stalled at exit with trucks egressing the road.

While making a left turn steering wheel locked up. Driver had managed to pull over to side of road and stopped vehicle. Had vehicle towed to dealer. Mechanic could not locate cause of steering wheel locking up.*ak

Consumer states that vehicle cuts off on her at will. Has taken vehicle to 2 mechanics, and they could not find out the cause. Consumer gets scared when crossing an intersection, because she is afraid that vehicle will cut off and another vehicle may run into her. When turning the steering wheel towards the left, the steering wheel locked up. The dealer told the consumer they would not know what to do and it would be costly to locate the problem. *ak *jb

When the consumer applied the brakes, the abs failed, which caused the vehicle to experience extended stopping distance. *jb also, consumer would like to add that the front seat recliner mechanims do not lock into position and can allow for seat occupants to be thrown forward into the steering column, dash, windshield during a crash. We got a low coolant light on our dashboard, and found the coolant resevoir to be completely empty. This was less than 3k miles since the coolant system was serviced - drained, refilled, and new radiator hoses installed. After refilling, we found a small coolant leak on the ground under the engine (when parked on a dry surface indoors - normally the car is in the driveway, where snow, ice, and rain may have masked a long-time small leak). On 3/3/03, our local midas repair shop found that the intake manifold gasket was failing, causing the leak. It was replaced (along with thermostat and some other gaskets, which were little additional expense), at a cost of over $900. Note that this is the vehicle primarily used by my (pregnant) wife and our 2 year old son, and that i myself work about 30 miles from home, so we were headed for incovenience at best, disaster at worst. Note that the vehicle uses dexcool coolant, as required by the manufacturer for proper treatment of its aluminum radiator.*jb

Steering column turn switch failure caused rear brake lights to go out completely - total dark - this is very dangerous, and will cause a rear end collision! ! It is also hard to discover - that's why people don't use turn signals - they wear out early, and cost a lot! Brake lights are major safety equipment!!*ak

Vehicle stalled at any time/ any speed. Mechanic replaced wiring harness, wires were melted. Vehicle has not stalled since. Consumers concern was that same quality wires might fail in other locations of vehicle.*ak

There is a very intense grinding noise when using brakes and, sometimes brakes stick.*ak

Total transmission failure at 55 mph.Transmission failed completely while in the midst of traffic at 55 mph without any warning.There was no noises no slipping or any other indications.One minute everything was fine and all of a sudden the vehicle stops moving.In heavy traffic this can be very dangerous especially if your in the middle lane and your car suddenly fails without any warnings what so ever.*ak

When making turns and sometimes when you drive over a slight bump the heater fan will turn on by itself or if listening to the radio the station will change by itself. Also while driving the auto door locks will suddenly click.This vehicle has temperature and radio controls installed on steering wheel. When i brought the vehicle in to service the recall in regards to the air bag defect i informed the dealer of the problem thinking it may relate to the defective air bag wiring but i was told they had no idea what it was and were only required to fix the problem at hand which was the air bag inflater.

Vehicle was involved in a frontal collision at 57mph. Upon impact, airbags did not deploy, resulting in minor injuries. Vehicle was totalled.*ak

Battery failed and was removed by owner and placed in back of owners suburban to transport for exchange for new battery at wal-mart. Apparently the battery leaked during transport and was not detected. Upon removing battery to bring into store, owner was burned with battery acid. Owner was treated by flusing with water. Vehicle was damaged due to acid. Carpet in back of vehicle was dissolved, underflooring began to rust, and other personal belongings such as a baby blanket were dissolved by the acid.*ak

Consumer owns a 1991, 1994, and 1996 cutlass supreme, all of which have experienced numerous brake system problems, brake pads and rotors have been replaced, calipers loaded, and bearings were packed, consumer requests reimbursement. *slc

Prior to recall 00v171000 the defective airbag module replacement part required 2 trips to the dealer. One to order the part and the second one 2 weeks later to replace the defective module for 30 minutes. *et

Vehcile shutters when trying to take off from a stop, consumer took vehicle to a mechanic, and he said it was a transmission problem.*ak

Vehicle was parked with window on driver's side down. Six hours later, vehicle's door was on fire behind the panel. Driver's door lock mechanism, which used a remote control, caught on fire. The key was not in the ignition & vehicle was turned off.*ak

Engine check light on; diagnostic ran - reported bad air pump which was replaced. Within days light came back on. Diagnostic ran again; same code=bad air pump. Mechanic said the pump is a bad design. The pump allows water to get into pump which then gets into the engine causing damage and the light to come on. $500 later - no resolution; same problem. *ak

I purchased the car at congressional oldsmobile, they could not find out what the problem was after 2 visits in the month of january, 2000. I took the car to congressional 2 times, where i purchased the car from first. On february i made an appointment with pohanka dealer, 4601 st. Barnabas road, marlow heights, md 20748. They put a door assembly in my car. I have taken my car to this dealer 7 times and it has not been repaired properly yet. I have call jimmy hicks twice, he does not even return calls. They usually keep my from 1 to 4 days and i get it back and it does the same as it did, when i brought in the very 1st time. They put parts in that don't work like a module, door handle, take the door assembly out and put it back in. My door got to the point where i could not open it from the drivers side after the put the door assembly in. My problem is the interior lights come at will, which includes the dome light and lights under the dashboard. If you go over a bump they flicker on and off. I have to keep the dome bulb out of the ceiling at all times, otherwise the battery will run down. The dome light it out as i write this comment and has been out for ove a month. There is no dialogue with jimmy hicks, the service manager at pohanka. He simple will not return phone calls. I call 3 times in one week, he did not call back. I have called gm 6 times and i very disappointed with entire situation. No customer should have to go throught what i have been through to get a car repaired properly. And to be ignore is really poor taste for a customer service department. *ak

I purchased the vehicle and one week later the transmission had to be fixed, door mechanism had to be replaced, windshield replaced 2 times and now the coolant is leaking along with an oil valve and the car does not accelerate. Cost to repair this time is estimated at $1200

While driving, left front firestone fr721 tire p195/75r14 experienced tread separation, tires were installed at 23000 miles, vehicle received body damage due to the tire failure. *slc

Engin echeck engine light came on, and the dealer said the air pump had failed. Even though my car is technically out of the 3 year warranty period by a few months, it has not reached 36,000 miles yet (3 yrs/36,000 mile warranty). I am trying to find out if there are reported problems with the air pump on the 1996 cutlass.

Braking failure. During normal driving the abs warning light and the low trac warning light came on. The brakes failed to operate for approximately 2 seconds, nearly causing an accident. The problem was resolved by the dealer. It was a failure of the right rear wheel speed sensor. Cost of $550.00 to repair.

This is my second report of the throttle cable snapping while driving. I never received any response to my first complaint, which i deem a clear and present danger to the operation of this type of motor vehicle. The throttle cable should not snap every 20,000 miles whenoperating the vehicle. Something is wrong on the manufacturers part. How many gas accelerator cables have been reported as snapping while driving? Thank you, manley stampler. *ak

Transmission failed due to valve body wear at 47,667 miles (was told defective valve body). Transmission replaced - it was not covered under warranty.*ak

Dealership wouldn't even give me the name of the regional service manager to discuss the problem with. Dealership quoted close to $2000 to repair the vehicle and it would take 2 weeks. Had it fixed by a mom and pop for $950

Front seat belt will not retract when taking off or when it is on. Seatbelt will loosen, causing a loss of protection. Dealer has replaced retractor twice on front seatbelts. Dealer claimed the design of the seatbelt is causing the defect. *ak

While braking brake pedal "freezes," causing extended stopping which may result in a crash. Please provide further information. *ak

Both rear door locks fail randomly. They may work for several weeks. When dissassembled, there is nothing mechanically that has failed. On the first ocassion, the rod from the left rear door lock lever had fallen from the bellcrank. That was several months ago. This time however, that was checked and it was in its proper location. When the door locks malfunction, there is no way to open the doors either from the inside or outside. After several attemps, the locks begin to work and the doors can be opened. When the locks move, they do move through their normal movement range, in other words they move the correct bellcrank the proper amount of travel. This is a very serious safety concern as small children are in the back seat, the failure mode is purely random, and in case of fire there would be absolutely no way to open the rear doors.

Vehicle skidded under hard braking (to avoid collision); abs did not activate until after 2 seconds of skidding. Abs also activates under normal braking over bumpy road; stays activated for 30 seconds. Dealer inspected braking and abs systems; found no problems, found no error codes in abs computer. No other action taken by dealer.

Coolant leaking from intake manifold. Service tech. Replaced gasket.

We replaced the fuel filter because it was clogged, however, we then had to have the engine control module replaced as well as the catalitic converter.

The consumer has been experiencing problems with fuel tank. While driving fuel leaks from fuel tank. In addition, smells fumes. The manufacturer has been contacted. *ak

This happened some time ago but i recently read of an investigation that you have undertaked and decided that this may be relevant. I also have seen service bulletins for this issue. While driving, the accelerator cable became detached from the accelerator and i lost all acceleration while traveling at 65 mph on a freeway in morning traffic. It seems that this should rise to the level of a recall. Fortunately, i was able to pull into the regular lane of traffic and then to the berm before the vehicle came to a complete stop and before i was rear ended by the vehicle behind me. Since there is deceleration without brake lights, this is a very hazardous situation. When i arrived at the dealership with the wrecker, the service department employee advised me that the cable was installed wtihout a clip and that the manufacturerer was aware of the potential defect but had not recalled the vehicles for this problem.

While having a brake job it was noted that both front rotors had holes in the casting on the inside face of both front rotors.*et

Brakes failed. Dry roadsurface; applied to brakes with lots of distance to stop; but brakes did not work.

A second transmission has failed at 56,000 miles. There was a technical bulletin issued in feb. 1997, # 67-71-64. Oldsmobile did not make anyone aware of problem. Will not fix problem because over warranty period, though they knew of problems with the transmission existed. A transmission should last well over 150,000 miles and should not have to be replaced every 52,000 to 56,000 miles. They should be required to notify all owners of this problem so it can be fixed before warranty expires. They should also be required to fix any transmission that has failed, beacuse of there self diagnosed problems. *ak

Original transmission failure at 52,000 miles. Dealer notified and had repairs done. Currently at 107,000 miles, transmisson failed again. Manufacturer notified, and informed consumer that vehicle was no longer under warranty. *ak *ml

Rear brake pads failed and resurfaced all four rotors.

Run channel failed.

Accelerator cable snapped because it was frayed.

Engine cradle separated from body at rear. Steering column separated at the steering rack universal joint resulting in loss of steering control.

While driving the abs light comes on intermittently. The right hub/ bearings, and on 12-31 97 the same problem occurred . Owner applied the brakes and lost brakes. The dealer has repaired the vehicle. *ak

During routine inspection mechanic found rear brake pads are not touching the drum, consumer wonders if abs ever worked.*ak consumer states he expressed concerns to dealer prior to learning about pads regarding brakes and was told everything was normal. *slc

At about 20000 miles the engine lost power , had a rough idle and then engine check light came on. I took the car to the dealer and they replaced two injectors. About 1000 miles later, the engine did the same thing and the ses light came on. I took it back to the dealer and they replaced the other four injectors. *ak

Vehicle was just sitting and the air bag popped out. Vehicle was not started up yet. The driver got in and the air bag deployed for no reason. *ak *slc

When driving at highway speed of 70mph, the vehicle will downshift at a low speed, and continue to jerk with a full or a half tank, and with cruise control on or off. In for repair, no problem found. *ak

Dt: the consumer owns a 1996 oldsmobile cutlass supreme. She stated that the service engine light keeps coming on and some type of code comes on. The code means a slip in the engine. The consumer has done research on the internet and this code is known to come on in a lot of gm models. *jb

When driving at 30 to 40 mph consumer noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment, pulled over, and the vehicle was on fire under the dash aera of the vehicle. Cause of the fire was determined as an electrical fire. The vehicle was totaled. *ak

Spring loaded mechanism that keeps passenger's door open broke off. *ak

When coming out of driveway in the morning when it's wet and stepping on the brakes, the brakes lock up and then let loose. Also when you driving down the road and applying foot on the brake, the vehicle will still move forward about 15 feet before it stops. *ak

Intermittent stalling.

Automatic brakes do not work properly, dealer can not find problem.

Seat belt not bolted to frame, also tapping plate is missing.

When it rains and the driver tries to make a turn the vehicle will shut off completely and could cause an accident. *ak

Ongoing problem with brake system. Whenever vehicle is at a parked position and sitting for a while, then when backing up the consumer can hear shot of air going through the system which causes a backward surge (almost as though the brake pedal would lock up) with no brake. Vehicle been in dealer shop on several occasion sand nothing could be found. Can nhtsa help in this matter. *ak

Because of the anchor plate is missing on driver's side, the seat belt gets caught in the retractor. *ak

The consumer is disabled which precludes her from driving 30-40 miles to the nearest oldsmobile dealer to have the vehicle repaired. The vehicle was included in a rack and pinion recall and the consumer wanted to take the vehicle the nearest chevrolet dealer to have it repaired. The consumer was informed by the chevrolet dealer's service dept that the repairs could not be done there. *ph *cb

Recall notice no.00v171oo was sent the the consumer regarding unexpected air bag deployment, however the repair is not available at this time, consumer is not satisfied and would like a disconnected air bag during the interum period. *etm *mjs

Consumer is not satisfied with recall (00v-171), recall repair may take up to six months for remedy to be available to the public. *mjs

Consumer received the manufacturer's recall regarding the air bags, the consumer would like to also get an on/off switch because of her height and how close she has to sit to the steering wheel. *slc

While putting the vehicle into gear it had to be put between drive and neutral, the dealer stated this was due to a shift on the dashboard, when putting the vehicle in reverse the vehicle would race, the dealer stated that this was nothing to worry about. *slc

Has gmc ever offered a replacement on this item? It is obviouisly a flaw. I have seen many like this. No safety defect listed in summary. *ak

We had just returned from short shopping trip, parked in driveway, and not more than 10 minutes later we noticed the car was on fire. The car was a total loss, plus damage was also done to our carport and the backside of our other car. The firemen, police, and insurance company felt the cause of the fire was most likely an electrical problem, but the damage was too severe to confirm.*ak

We have replaced the front and rear brakes more than eight times and have replaced the rotors twice. We have talked with other cutlass supreme owners and they have replaced their brakes just as much if not more frequently. This has resulted in costly repairs. *ak

Turn signal switch short. No taillights when turn signal is on. One way both side taillights go out and the other way one side of taillights go out. When turn signals are not being used, sometimes i have tailights and sometimes i don't. They blink on and off. This has almost caused an accident and it started after i had my car in the dealer for the recall work on the driver side airbag. I have no taillights and i am concerned about my safety when driving my car. It is very unsafe to be driving without any taillights. The only lights that work on the back end of my car are the brake light in the window and the reverse lights. The rest of the lights go on and off.

Consumer was a passenger in the vehicle during an accident and was injured by the airbag.*jb

While attempting to make a normal stop consumer noticed a grinding sound coming from the brakes. Also, in order to stop, excessive force had to be applied to the brake pedal. In many cases, vehicle had experienced extended stopping distance. Consumer has contacted dealer. Please provide any further details. *ak

Vehicle was taken to the shop to be checked for brake problem, brakes were making a loud sqeaking noise. At that time brake pads and rotors were replaced. Presently, back brakes need to be replaced because of the same problem. Vehicle currently has 35,000 miles. *ak

While traveling at 60 mph consumer lost control of vehicle, causing vehicle to impact wall at the rate of speed 40-50 mph, and air bags did not deploy. Please provide further information.*ak

Consumer received recall 00v171000 concerning inadvertent air bag deployment. Contacted dealer, who emphasized that there were no parts available to remedy problem. Please give any further details. *ak

While starting vehicle engine would be making noises. Had vehicle serviced. Two-weeks later, engine check indicator light flashed. Engine shutdown, and would not restart. Dealer was contacted.*ak

Problems with vehicle's door and window equipment.*mr power windows broke/ window motor was replaced and vehicle door is sticking when opened or closed. Door was adjusted and the hinges were sprayed.*mr

Head lights come on as soon as you start engine (safety feature), however there is no way of turning off headlights in blinding snow storms or dense fog, making visibility very difficult.

Front end suspension experiences extreme vibration at highway speeds, causing tire failures.

Consumer received recall 00v171, however has been informed that the repairs will not be available for a lengthy amount of time, the consumer does not think that 6 months is a reasonable amount of time for the recall. *slc

Nhtsa# 00v171000 & mfr's# 00058/inadvertent air bag deployment: consumer states dealer (terry capital oldsmobile cadillac subaru; traverse city, mi; phone# 231/947-9090) informed that the recall repairs was done, but the manufacturer states that the recall was not done. Consumer states that after recall was done the airbag senor light came on and stayed on. Dealership wants to charge to do a test to see why this is happening. Mr

When driving in reverse the vehicle jerks, and when turning the steering wheel left or right the vehicle makes a loud crunching noise. Dealer can't duplicate the problem. *ak
