The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment on a clunk or click noise from the steering column area when turning the steering
wheel. This concern may be duplicated by turning the steering wheel back and forth.

This may be caused by a loose rivet on the lower steering column support bearing cap. Seepicture above.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Inspect the lower steering column support bearing bracket for a loose rivet. If a loose rivet is found, it will be
necessary to replace the steering column.
If there are no rivets on the lower steering column support bearing cap it has a newer column, follow normal
diagnostics.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is
resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
