• Recall 113512 [USA]: If the open liftgate unexpectedly falls, it may strike a person, increasing their risk of injury.
  General motors llc (gm) is recalling certain model year 2008-2012 buick enclave vehicles manufactured january 3, 2007, to february 29, 2012, 2009-2012 chevrolet traverse vehicles manufactured july 6, 2008, to march 9, 2012, 2007-2012 gmc acadia vehicles manufactured september 15, 2006, to february 29, 2012, and 2007-2010 saturn outlook vehicles manufactured august 17, 2006, to march 18, 2010. The affected vehicles, equipped with the power liftgate option, have gas struts that hold the power liftgate up when open. These struts may prematurely wear and the open liftgate may suddenly fall.
  gm will notify owners, and dealers will update the software for the power liftgate actuator motor control unit so that the motor will prevent the rapid closing of the lift gate, free of charge. The recall began on november 15, 2016. • Recall 86820 [USA]: It is possible for the heated washer module to ignite and a fire may occur.
  Gm is recalling certain model year 2006-2009 buick, lucerne; cadillac dts; hummer h2; model year 2008-2009 buick enclave; cadillac cts; model year 2007-2009 cadillac escalade, escalade esv, escalade ext; chevrolet avalanche, silverado, suburban, tahoe; gmc acadia, sierra, yukon, yukon xl; saturn outlook; and model year 2009 chevrolet traverse vehicles equipped with a heated washer fluid system (hwfs). A recall was implemented in 2008 to add a fuse to the control circuit harness to address the potential consequences of a printed circuit board (pcb) electrical short. However, there have been new reports of thermal incidents on hwfs modules after this improvement was installed. These incidents resulted from a new failure mode attributed to the device's thermal protection feature. The significance varies from minor distortion to considerable melting of the plastic around the hwfs fluid chamber.

An updated page for the owner manual will be provided and inserted in the owner manual to document that the feature has been permanently disabled and removed from the vehicle. • Recall 47156 [USA]: In the event of a crash, this condition could increase the risk of injury to occupants in the front seat.
  On certain vehicles, the sensing and diagnostic module (sdm), which controls the function of front air bags, may not operate properly. As a result, the front air bags may fail to deploy in a frontal crash. Also, the air bag warning lamp on the instrument panel may fail to provide warning that the system is inoperative.

• Recall 2015280 [Canada]: Structure
  On certain vehicles equipped with a power liftgate system, the gas-filled struts (which help to raise and support the liftgate) may prematurely wear. These vehicles have a prop rod recovery system intended to accomplish a controlled, slow return of the liftgate to the closed position if the liftgate’s gas struts are no longer capable of supporting the weight of the liftgate. The vehicle would provide audible warnings and flash the tail lamps to indicate there is a problem. However, the liftgate’s prop rod recovery system software may be unable to detect/stop a liftgate with prematurely worn gas struts from falling too quickly after the liftgate is opened. This could allow the liftgate to drop suddenly, placing anyone beneath or near the gate at risk of injury. Correction: dealers will reprogram the power liftgate actuator motor ecu with a new software and will verify power liftgate operation following the reprogram.

  On certain vehicles equipped with a heated washer fluid system (hwfs), a short circuit on the printed circuit board for the washer fluid heater may overheat the control-circuit ground wire. A repair was implemented in a recall in 2008, however, there have been new reports of thermal incidents on heated washer fluid system modules after this improvement was installed. This situation may cause some minor distortion, but also could lead to melting of the plastic around the heated washer fluid system, or cause a fire. Correction: dealers will permanently disable and remove the heated washer fluid module. An updated page will be provided and inserted in the owner manual to document the removal of the feature.

  On certain vehicles registered in areas with moderate to heavy snowfall, a buildup of snow or ice on the windshield or wipers could restrict the movement of the wiper arm and the wiper linkage may become detached from motor shaft and the wipers will become inoperative. This situation, in conjunction with traffic, road conditions, and driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: dealers will install a new wiper crank arm, driver's side link, and crank arm nut.

  On certain vehicles, the sensing and diagnostic module (sdm), which controls the function of front airbags, may not operate properly. The vehicles automatic transmission was not shifting appropriately with fluctuating changes of speeds, then the car would not maintain a safe speed to exit the freeway. After parking i called a tow truck and had it delivered to the closest dealer where they had put in a rebuilt transmission when the vehicle had 90,223 miles back in 2013. Now, less than 50,000 miles later the dealership is telling me the vehicle needs another transmission at the cost of $5,500. If a vehicle only gets 50,000 miles out of a transmission somethings not right! I have my receipts from the first transmission that clearly indicate the mileage.

Many complaints are of people replacing this sensor numerpus times only to have the sensor malfunction shortly after. It is suggested that the sensor be repositioned elsewhere on the vehicle. With 100+ temps and no way to cool this vehicle it is a danger to its occupants, especially being an 8 seater most likely to have small children in the back where the heat gets unbearable. Air bag sensor in passenger seat fails intermittently and light sup the air bag sensor light on the dashboard, and disables the passenger side front airbag, even when an adult passenger is occupying the seat. This can happen whenever the car is powered on.
